Thanks to Angharad and Simon for your responses. I noticed after my original post that some of the worst-offending spam posts seemed to be gone, but because they were spread across random threads, I wasn't sure that I knew where they had been. I had a feeling that maybe moderation was taking place after all, but I appreciate the confirmation.

by Apognophos inhow do you guys feel about someone who gets an idea in his head that we want to hear the same phrase, often a nonsensical one, repeated in a dozen or more threads which may not have anything to do with the phrase in question?

Do You Think It Possible That A Member Of Governing Body Would Ever Commit Suicide Because Of The Pain From Cognitive Dissonance?
by frankiespeakin ini think as things get real tuff for the governing body that the build up of stress from dealing with a corporation founded on lies and manipulation of people that is comming to a head and all the lawsuits and possible criminal prosecution and the day today pressure of having all your decision back fire on you.. the final stage of wishful thinking is the nightmare stage where the whole delusion falls apart.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wishful_thinking.
i'm thinking just like hitler killed himself rather than face life anymore, that some on the gb may reach that stage..

They would give it up only if they lost their special status. Say, if a combination of the removal of tax-exemption from the Society and other factors caused a financial dissolution, and/or they lost most of their followers due to doctrinal upheaval.
Alternately, a persecution situation (even if not part of a broad UN move against religion, but targeting only them, and even if they brought it upon themselves through Rutherfordian rabble-rousing) that leads to a literal Hitler-in-the-bunker situation could mayyyybe prompt them to shuffle off their mortal coil a little sooner to join the bride in heaven.

Question regarding Faith...(adamah)
by tec inpeace!.
you have stated (and others have agreed and stated the same) that faith is not based on evidence, or it is not faith to begin with.
may i ask you, then, if you think the apostles and early disciples, who walked with christ, had faith?

RED ALERT FOR JULY 15TH STUDY on SUNDAY!
by The Searcher inin the very first paragraph, matthew 13:38 is to be read - "the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one..".
jesus speaks of only two groups, so if you accept the wtbts "anointed" doctrine, then if you haven't got the "heavenly hope", then you've got no hope!.
simply put, there aren't any 'other sheep' members of jesus' "one flock" mentioned, unless of course theyare also "sons of the kingdom", but of course, that would be ridiculous!!.

It's also a great setup for a Kool-Aid Scenario.

The year 1914
by Kool Jo inok...so after this new light came out in the watchtower study over the weekend...a couple questions:.
1. why is the year 1914 still relevant to the doctrine?.
2. what would the effects be in they were to ever drop the 1914 teaching in the future (let's say 20 years from now)?.

Phizzy: Did you not read any posts on the first page? I and DATA-DOG explained exactly how they could drop 1914. It's a great myth on this forum that 1919 is *based* on 1914 in any concrete way. I try to point this out every time the topic comes up, but no one ever responds to my posts, or seems to even see them.

Were organ transplants ever forbidden?
by stillstuckcruz inas an apostate, i'm currently compiling a list of changed doctrines and "new light" changes over the years.
this is mainly for discussing with witnesses in the future.
i feel if i don't present full truth of their own doctrine, they will knock me down and rightfully say that i did not give full infomation(hypocrites much?).

I read your account. I think it's truly evil that the Society not only failed to apologize for this change in teaching, but they went from saying it was totally unscriptural to "There is no Biblical command pointedly forbidding the taking in of other human tissue ... It is a matter for personal decision". Which sounds to a reader like they still don't think it's right; that maybe the Bible implies it's wrong even though they can't find a scripture to explicitly say so. However, as Phizzy says, this has the effect of causing many of the most earnest JWs to continue to treat it as a ban.
This is the same exact trick they used in 2000 when they allowed blood fractions, saying that it was a conscience matter. I naively thought at the time, "Well, there's no way my conscience would allow that, because if blood is symbolically wrong to take into my bloodstream, a fraction of a symbol is just as wrong." I didn't recognize that this was the Society's way of saying, "We wish we never banned this in the first place, but since we can't completely remove the ban without provoking a riot, we'll just sound like we're begrudgingly allowing it to be a conscience matter." The truth is that the Society is an organization with no conscience themselves. Truly a case of "man dominating man to his injury" and "the blind leading the blind".

Scientology article
by zound injust replace 'church of scientology' with 'jehovah's witnesses' as you read this article.. .
appearing on the ellen degeneres show for her first interview since abruptly leaving the church of scientology ((jehovah's witnesses)) in july, leah remini revealed she's been having a difficult time adjusting to the consequences.. "i hear it's different than leaving another religion, are you okay?
" degeneres asked her.. taking a big sip from her coffee cup, remini, 43, paused before replying, "i'm okay.

Transplants are cannibalism.
Blood and transplants are banned.
1975 is the year to watch for.
JW's don't petition or protest.
Believing in young earth creationism.
Even that bit at the end "Space travel is a waste of time."Hilariously, they even mention Sodom and Gomorrah's newfound "resurrectable" status. I'm almost suspicious of this article's authenticity, it seems too good to be true.

This was honestly the biggest single factor for me in "leaving the truth", and it came out of nowhere; being a child of the '80s, I'd never heard of this until I read about it on JWFacts. I didn't exactly think, when I first came across the info there, that Paul Grundy had made up his Watchtower quotes -- I had read enough of the site to know that he was probably not manufacturing quotes like some kind of insidious WT caricature of an apostate -- but I just had to read the actual Questions From Readers in 1967 and 1980 myself from the WT Library CD-ROM before I could process the information. I actually found the full text of the QFRs to be more shocking than what JWFacts had presented in excerpts. It was clear that if God had an organization, he would NEVER allow this kind of totally bunk science and completely baseless logic to be taught when it could result in the death of some of his followers.
The 1980 flip-flop also has the amazing side-effect of kicking one of the legs out from under the blood teaching by acknowledging that getting something transplanted into one's body is different than consuming it as food.
