Oh God, I don't want to have to deal with the new #3 assignment for brothers.
And can someone kindly explain how we're supposed to sing the new songs if we don't have a new songbook or a mobile device?

TV.JW.Org - Streamed to KHs via the New Projectors
by passwordprotected ini read here recently that the khs are being instructed to buy and install projector systems.. now that we've seen the launch of of tv.jw.org we can fully expect public talks to - on a monthly basis at least - be replaced by content streamed from the site to the screens in khs.. .

Ha, that's hilarious! Reminds me of the apostles trying to stop kids from going over to see Jesus.

Strange situation
by Gorbatchov inhi folks,.
the rank and file is now in a strange situation.. it is clear that the jw leadership is in for a huge change.
the type / anti type change makes clear that they make a u-turn.. it's clear that with this changes the current doctrine are temporary.

There's just one problem with the idea of being "in it for Jehovah"... who tells you what Jehovah thinks, and cares about?

You guys need to wait a bit until they bring in the other GB members before you come to any conclusions. I have no idea why they led with Lett but most of the GB members are fine speakers. Except for Morris, who exudes anti-charisma and is the group's Dick Cheney.

I do hold the current WT leaders responsible for perpetuating doctrines that they probably know are wrong, like the blood doctrine. That's completely different, however, because it continues to actively endanger people. I don't see anyone advocating real violence against Jews today besides, of course, the Palestinians and various anti-semitic leaders in the Middle East.
Christianity today is not what it was in Martin Luther's time or even 100 years ago so in my mind it has nothing to do with past persecution of Jews. A modern Christian has no violent urges against Jews and is more likely to pray for them out of pity.

Evidence of life after death?
by little_Socrates inhttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/life-after-death-largestever-study-provides-evidence-that-out-of-body-and-neardeath-experiences-may-actually-be-real-9780195.html.
"experts currently believe that the brain shuts down within 20 to 30 seconds of the heart stopping beating and that it is not possible to be aware of anything at all once that has happened.. but scientists in the new study heard said they heard compelling evidence that patients experienced real events for up to three minutes after this had happened and could recall them accurately once they had been resuscitated.".
how are people having "experinces" while there is no evidence of heart or brain activity?.

The study of people being stared at is interesting. However I don't think that this is really connected to the assertion of life after death. There are various less fantastical explanations for how someone could detect a stare without asserting that it has something to do with a soul.

Sorry, I don't have time for a 38 minute video. But atheism is not about proving there isn't a God. It's about simply taking an evidence-based stance and saying that you won't believe in something just because mommy and daddy and society says it exists. The burden of proof is on believers to show that something as extraordinary as God exists.
Just to be clear, I'm agnostic, but essentially atheist concerning the God of the Bible. That's because I learned about how the Bible was written and now I can see the seams very clearly. It's very much a collection of disparate writings that were edited and mashed together over the centuries, and you can actually see the concept of God evolving from the earlier texts like Gen. ch. 2 to the later texts like Gen ch 1. So for anyone who's actually learned this stuff, they can't believe that the Bible is God's Word anymore. That doesn't mean God doesn't exist, just that he hasn't revealed himself by inspiring the Bible.

I continually copy my long posts into a text editor and save them as I work on them, so I can't lose something by hitting the wrong key. Just a tip.
