i'm being flown out next week for a final interview and a tremendous job opportunity.
but before i sell the house and move - i was just wondering how many of you are out there and your opinions of the area (i will need some new good association).
also, i'm from the wilds of ny - do you think i can adjust to ohio?
Hi Sherri. Nice to see your post. I left the organization a year and a half ago. I attended the Greenville, North congregation my entire life. I knew Tom very well. Last I heard, he is still an Elder here in Greenville. When I was attending, he was the School Overseer. I'm not too sure what he's doing now. I always liked Tom very much. Of all the Elders, he was one of my favorites. As borgfree commented, he did marry an Elder's daughter here in Greenville. To my knowledge, they have no children. For some time, he had his own business in town, but eventually (if my memory serves me correctly) I believe he started working for the city doing site surveying work. I thought I had heard somewhere that he has since started another business in town, but I'm not sure. As far as I know, all is well with him. Can't think of anything else to offer, but I hope this helps. Take care!

Surely you have claimed your expertise. If you know you are right and that I am wrong, you have exercised your expertise by raising yourself up and putting me down.Knowing that 2 + 2 = 4 instead of 7 does not make one an expert in Mathematics. Correcting someone who claims that 2 + 2 = 7 does not make one an expert in Mathematics. It's simple logic. That's all.
Label me surprised....you didn't answer the question. Instead you redirected to a supposed mistake in my choice of words. Very reminiscent of JW's. Oh well. Thanks, anyway.
Pomegranate,
Would you please explain to us how you can possibly use the Bible in defense of your beliefs? You claim that the Bible is only for the "chosen ones." You further state that those who are chosen will only be known at "the end." You then quote scripture after scripture to back up your beliefs. Is this not a contradiction? You might as well throw your Bible away because it will do you no good until the end when it is determined whether or not you are "chosen." Then, provided you are among the chosen, you can come back and cite verses in your defense. But.....by then, won't it be a little late?
Circles, my friend. Circles.
got this info from a reliable source this evening: manuel beliz, convicted in the erica rodriguez case, was sentenced to prison at the walla walla state penitentiary.
apparently, the prisoners were allowed to watch the airing of dateline.
well, it seems that mr. beliz's fellow inmates didn't have a very good opinion of him after viewing the program.

I appreciate your thoughts on the subject of the family of Manuel. However, I wholeheartedly disagree. I too was at that trial. I watched as both the daughter and the son of Mr. Beliz took the stand to defend that monster. I watched as they all sat proudly while the defense attorney attacked Erica, tears streaming down her face. Now, I understand that the mentality in the organization can corrupt a person's perspective on issues. But, in my book, defending actions as heinous as his is not that far from partaking in them. Yes, I would certainly give them the right to love their husband/father. However, they tried to free him from the punishment of his disgusting crimes. I give no sympathy to those who share such filth.

I have not posted the info on Silentlambs guestbook. Feel free if you like. I agree that many of the visitors there would enjoy reading the update. Perhaps even some current JWs would appreciate the news.

According to my source, he suffered a very severe beating following the airing. His family went to the penitentiary and requested a transfer for him. The request was denied.
Thought some of you might be interested in that bit of information.

Puffs:
I don't mind Northwestern. They're ok. But they're no OSU. Anyway, are we talking about football or scholastic ability? I'm certainly not a fan of the Buckeye's for their intellectual prowess. We'll talk again after this season. Good times!
