Michael Jackson's Belt...

i've seen several reports (tv and magazines) that michael jackson recently wore a belt to court that had five crowns hanging from it.

the reports said that his mother told him to wear it because the five crowns is a jw belief that represents rightousness.

i was a jw for 21 years, and left only 4 years ago.

I've never heard of such a belief/doctrine. I've asked every XJW I know (years in slavery to the borg ranging from 20 - 50). No one has ever heard of this.

Does anybody have a clue where this came from?

It was an unforgetable B-day! My Fiance and I went to romantic dinner on a boat that sits on the river in Old Sacramento and then we walked the pier (we were unofficially engaged, we were planning the wedding but I didn't have my ring yet), yesterday he got down on one knee and said the most beautiful words and asked me to marry him ....... Allen is trying to learn spanish and he said every word in spanish when he proposed, which meant so much more because he had been practicing it for the past weak, he was so nervous but he did great.

I LOVE BEING ABLE TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS !!!!!!!!!!!

hi... i haven't been in the internet in such a long time, i just wanted to say thank you sooo much for your support on the recent events on my lawsuit.. i wanted to tell those who are interested that it is being appealed and it will take about a year for it to go to the apellet court.

i must admit when i heard the news it was really disappointing, but it made me feel a little better knowing that it was over a statue of limitations and not because they tried to say it never happened.

i think you all might find this a little funny, a few months back my lawyers had a deposition with the elders involved in the congregation and i was able to attend, one elder kept on saying that he just followed watchtower policy, he also admitted that the two eye witness policy is true, he said that he was no longer an elder and said it was because he wanted to spend more time with his family but is still a jw (of course).

Grace: I am looking foward to meeting you, I will be going to Penn, I can't beleive it is only 2 weaks away!!! I need a break and this will be our first time away from Michael together, but my dad will be staying in our home with him so he is in great hands.

Gopher: It is really easy to send Oprah's show an e-mail and if they get bombarded with the issue at hand I think that they will get an idea of how big the problem is.

Blondie: We went to the capitol here to help pass a bill of statue of limitations on child abuse and I beleive it made a huge difference to have people just sit there in support of the bill. I to was never into politics (except for recently with this whole Cali Recall thing) but to get involved in Bills like the one we went to felt really good.

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words, I have been told by some that it took alot of guts and that I was brave and I just never really viewed myself that way, Thank you so much and I really couldn't have done it without the support of people like you.

When I walked in the room the Elder was so shocked he hid behind a post that was in the office and would look away everytime I would look his way. The other Elder is what made me laugh, he was so nice to me and asked me how I was doing with the biggest smile, I knew he was putting on a show so I just smiled and was PC, he kept trying to act as if he were my best friend, talked about the whether and so forth. The next day we (fiance, baby, and me) went the store and he and his wife saw me and walked a little faster, kept on looking back at us with this look of disgust, my fiance of course through the look right back. I just couldn't help but laugh right then and there because it was so different from how he was all nice and interested the day before. Such a two faced lying son of a ...... Sorry I just had to throw that in.

One more thing I saw a few post about how it would be nice to have Oprah do a show about JW child abuse cover-up... and I sent an e-mail today about my story and silentlambs web site, just a thought, but if a few us did that maybe it will get there attention and they will know that it is a huge problem within that religion.

Name Things That Used To Get You Upset And Now Don't

i remember people getting very upset because they didn't called on to answer by the watchtower conductor like they felt they should.

some people used to get very upset if they had to work out in service with the same person, twice in a row.

of course, now, it's no big deal.

To clarify, I was not arguing semantics. Since you failed to provide a definition for "fundamentalism," and since this word can mean a variety of things to a variety of people, I was attempting to cover either extreme in my argument.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but your suggested path of resolution consists primarily of addressing the problems of poverty and ignorance within the areas that terrorism is seemingly sprouting. As to the notion of the poverty afflicting the people of those areas, to where should we look for a solution? To which nations should we look to funnel money in the direction of the poor people populating these areas? Or, should we look to the extremely wealthy dictators of the very countries where poverty flourishes? If that is the case, do you think these rich, powerful people will simply write a check to help the economic state? From where will this money materialize?

Secondly, as to the idea of the supposed ignorance. What exactly are these people ignorant of? Is it not their faith and beliefs that lead them to the terrorism? Most everyone on this board has either been one of Jehovah's Witnesses or has been affiliated with them in some manner. How do you educate a JW? What do you teach them? Should you teach them Christianity? Atheism? Islam? What knowledge would you give to a person whose beliefs are founded on the destruction of the Infidel? We're not talking about uninformed people. These people are making conscious decisions to attack others because they feel they are directed by God. In a world full of civilized nations that preach "freedom of religion," how do you combat a system of beliefs that propagate the destruction of all who do not comply?

In summation, my two questions to you would be:

1. From where does the money come?

2. What education should be given?

If you can prove to me, from history, that suppression and violenece will more effectively end the problems caused by fundamentalist terrorists than working to remove the reasons why people become terrorists, go ahead.

The problem is that these "fundamentalists" believe their crusade to destroy the infidel - all who don't comply with the beliefs and lifestyle of Islam - is backed by God. How do you nicely reason with that type of person? They are clearly not interested in diplomacy. They are interested in fulfilling their self-imposed mission from God to wipe the earth of those not worthy. These are their "fundamental" beliefs. To put it succinctly, they are terrorists because they believe it to be their God-given right. Thus, there can be no rational discourse to lead all to peace when their beliefs center around war. Now, if you wish to argue the issue that they supposedly don't represent Islam in their patterns of behavior, then ultimately, they are not "fundamentalists." They are merely acting on a personal conviction, much the same as Adolf Hitler acted on a personal conviction. And, as history would note, the Nazi's weren't stopped by a tea party on the White House lawn.

It boils down to this: Blood will inevitably be spilled. Will it be the blood of the extremists, or that of our own?
