A Stop at Willoughby
At times we'd all like to go back to a time and place where everyone's kind and friendly, and where life has a slower pace.
chickpea started a thread on "time freezes in grand central".
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/27/152305/1.ashx.
and i got the idea of starting a "twilight" thread...chickpea's thread made me remember of the episode of stop watch.

i would like to find some pro-jw sites.
i know that the society frowns on internet use....but there has to be some out there.
i know several years ago i looked at several sites that had forums with lots of active and strong jw's.
Here's the link:
Welcome to Pure Language Friends Network
Please let me know if you can get in ... I'm serious about really wanting to read the postings there again, and won't post there myself.

There is one called PureLanguage. I had a link to it back when I could get into that site. You have to use the name of someone currently a verifiable JW and at that time they were calling the Kingdom Halls to verify people were legitimate. A JW friend let me use her info. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with her and every six months or so you have to re-register so I can't get in anymore.
If you can get in, I'd truly appreciate being able to slide in on your coat-tails. I never posted there, but just wanted to read the mindset of the 100% active, devoted JWs. Reading is still all I'd want to do. You're right, there is a difference.
I think it was PureLanguage.com .... the PureLanguage part is correct anyway.
Good luck!

i recently starting watching the hbo drama "big love" and was wondering.
if anyone here who is a mormon or used to be one or is connected to mormons.
somehow has seen the show, and what you think of it.. .
"Car" ended up being a hyperlink. I don't know why and repeated attempts didn't remove it. Sorry! Not anything I did, so just don't click on it.
SusanHere, who really is off this thread now

What I said was this:
.
I say freely and openly that I am LDS now and forever because that is, quite simply, what I am. I have no intention of ever changing it. I was an adult when I was baptized LDS, after a very long search, and after reading every bit of anti-LDS literature I could find, and taking the time to debunk every bit of it, one by one. So you see, I know it can be done. Easily. Because of that early effort, I have no fear of what anyone says against the Church. If anyone cares to draw conclusions beyond that, feel free, but you will most likely be wrong.
.
Isn't it lovely how this simple statement was morphed by so many of you into "SusanHere says she's read and debunked EVERYTHING EVER SAID against the LDS Church!!!!"
What a bunch of brainiacs you are.
I've heard enough of your twisting of my very, very, VERY clear words to last a lifetime. Let me try again in simpler terms:
When I was all grown up I thought I might want to be LDS. (Are the syllables small enough yet?) So I drove my car to the place where they keep all those books. (Library has 3 syllables, can't use it.) I found the ones that said bad things about LDS. I took them home. All of them. I read them. All of them. I could see what was right and what was wrong in them. Not much was right. A lot was wrong. It was easy. I found more books. I read them. All of them. I could see what was right and what was wrong in them. Not much was right. A lot was wrong. It was easy. I found more books. Now I have no fear of big bad books with bad things about LDS. Now I have no fear when grown ups using big loud voices yell and shout and write bad things about my Church.
Is this clearer?
Now, where at ANY TIME did I say that I had read EVERYTHING EVER SAID against the LDS Church? Or that I can answer ANY challenge anyone cares to throw at LDS people?
Truthfully, I really don't care what you think of my chosen religion. I never asked any of you to embrace it. I never expected any of you to suddenly see the light and start playing MoTab recordings. And I certainly have better things to do with my time than to waste it in futile attempts at enlightening those individuals determined to find nothing but evil in my religion!
Your constant mocking and ignorance is not earning any respect from me. You want answers? I can give you a whole list of lovely websites with all the answers any open minded person would want. Of course, that does leave most of you out, doesn't it?
Lastly, this thread was about a TV show. It asked "resident mormons" OUR opinion of one TV show. I really doubt if the creater of this thread intended for it to turn into a hatefest against all things Mormon. Go take a chill pill. Or three or four. Life is supposed to be fun. Go enjoy it.

Signing off this thread and wishing all good people peace!!
he looked me up and down, then asked my age.
go with your brothers.
' i said to my brothers.
Coincidence is when God works undercover.

is it for "friendship"?.
to learn about jws?.
to play fun games like werewolf?.
I have a beloved sister who is JW, a Pioneer, and for many years her religion created a wall between us that I couldn't break through. We had almost no contact at all. She refused all contact with her "fleshly family" (a term I loath).
It took me many years of effort to establish a strong bond with her. Through this board I can stay on top of what my sister and her family are being taught, and where their current feelings on certain matters are. It gives me the advantage I need to avoid saying things that might trigger another long period of isolation.
Also, so many of you are really special people, who I've enjoyed getting to know through your postings. Some I now count as friends.
Personally, I think this board serves a good purpose on a lot of levels. Now if people would just try to get along ....
SusanHere
i just heard this.
i can't believe it.
does anyone know if this is true?.
My sister is a Pioneer who just recently chose to attend the birthday party of her grandchild. She spent weeks debating to go or not to go, finally choosing to go but keeping it secret from her congregation. She didn't sound like they'd think it was okay.

Wow! I haven't been able to post for a week due to sudden onset vestibular dysfunction (inner ear) causing dizziness and the absolute inability to read tiny little computer words without experiencing nausea (not unlike that caused by reading the intentionally unpleasant postings of certain members of this board).
So, rather than dodging anything or anyone, I have simply been unable to respond until now.
Qcmbr, thank you for your most able and on the mark comments. As always, you expressed yourself skillfully. Too bad it was lost on those who needed most to hear it, as usual.
DoubleEdge, so nice to see you again! Your story was true -- two of my sons while on missions were asked if people could feel the horns on their heads! LOL
Isn't it strange how a thread about a tv series could prompt such strongly worded postings by several in here who want to vent against Mormons in general, and Qcmbr and myself in particular.
I didn't start this thread. I wasn't trying to convert anybody to Mormonism by my comments, nor did I even share any deep, dark doctrinal secrets. And yet what little I said was enough to encite such a vehement tirade! My, my, my! Talk about people needing to take a chill pill.
Seven006, please don't quit your day job, as you won't make a living sketching people's characters. A psychologist you are not. I have no doubts about my religion, no questions that I am struggling with, no demons in my closet that I don't dare let loose, and no desire whatsoever to post on or even visit any of the ex-momon sites. One visit was enough know what is there, and my revulsion for the distortions I read coupled with my pity for those who wrote such posts guaranteed that there will be no repeat visits.

OldFlame, I know better than to discuss doctrine with you. I know you don't want to hear anything I have to say, so your asking isn't really with any sincerity. Your journey is far different from mine. I wish you well.
Must there always be such drama on this board? Get real, people -- we were discussing a silly tv show!
