So I finished my final year and was forced to attend university even though I was in a crippling depression in my final year, dropped out but attained a high enough mark to get my first choice in uni. Long story short, I wanted to go travelling before uni to broaden my perspective and for a chance to be free and travel Australia. However I'm only 19 with experience in mostly farming and small company manufacturing I don't think I would be equip to get a job to sustain my travel. although I am a hard worker who worked for the same company since I was 14. When I arrived I am volunteering but I know I need to get a job. Should I continue with uni and let my grades suffer (couldn't sit 2 Christmas exams, will probably fail 2 exams soon as well) or what advice have you to give?

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

I agree with crazyguy too. Do you really think humans could exist today if we lived along side dinosaurs XD
evidence that life (very simple cells) were first brought to earth on a asteroid commet etc....just looks at how bacteria and very microscopic creatures can survive being brought into space. my favourite creature is by far the "water bear" and as I typed it into google I found some Chinese creep on jw.org saying the creature praises Jehovah.... evolution exists without it, life would perish. think of it in this sense why would a creator allow change to the earth but deny its creatures the chance to evolve to this stimulus. in the sense of a perfect creator evolution should stand on its own or else you could deny that the creator wasn't perfect in the beginning ;) if you research more you will find that there is possible evidence for multiple universes. this in turn would destroy all current religion as the animals were not created by Jehovah but just happened because it was in the right universe. but then you have to think about how did multiple universes come about? maybe then one religion will dominate....

what sort of reactions have you gotten when talking to other jw when telling them the "truth about the truth"?
by AmIright inits funny ive read some stories on here about how they have become so infuriated by what logic dictates as being true and their own denying of it because it completely screws up their belief and shows how hypocritical it is xd some look like a nuclear reactor about to blow xd.

Girlfriend who is a JW but has so many problems caused by the cult!

so ive been with my gf for over a year now and she has finally woke up to how destructive the cult was to her!
she turned to it more and had private tutors?

also she has started to become more opinionated etc, standing up to her mother her confidence growing. she knows what she wants to do in life and is sticking to that path :) -

Thanks steve2 , yes I pressure her but I acknowledge I do it and she tells me when she feels pressured in anyway, I will often ask randomly if she is pressured by me etc. She doesn't really care about hurting her family anymore other than her dad who seems trapped himself, his father was DF'd a while ago so his tensions with the jw has rose significantly. he pressure from her home life is great and she has told me she doesn't care for her family anylonger.... would you really give a shit about your mother if she rufuses to bring you home when you are out with the family when you would be having a ptsd (yes, she does have it but I didn't want to say it) only to be called an inconvenience by her mother and made to stay out? she was very close with her sister but now exclaims she is no more than a spy, she is careful with what she does and says now...home life is very tense. thanks for your comment and if you have any others it will be appreciated. -

I have only recently seen this site and I agree about her seeing you as apostates etc and retreating back into it. I asked her this morning had she considered anything ive said about the watch tower etc, and she told me how can any of it be true since all he (Charles taze russel" did was gather a few books and put them together with his own beliefs and twisted the doctorines etc, anyway she knows its a denomination of the catholic church ( I am sort of catholic, which in youthful irish entails just putting down catholic on the census and nothing more) anyway she has realised since its a denomination on a church which had already seen many abuses to the bible how could anything in the jw be true. I think its a good start! shes thinking! she now realises she likes thinking beyond whats shes told instead of following blind orders fron millionaires ;)

I am not a jw, but I interact with some, have an ex-jw girlfriend who is mentally ill. theyre all mentally ill in my opinion.
