we have a charlotte bethany, eleanor paige and a mia olivia, the first two were easy to chose as charlotte is named after we went to a ballet on the bronte sisters, eleanor is from pride and prejudice and mia is the only name we could agree on after we went to have a 4d scan to see our little boy we were convinced we were having!! After getting a shock that it was a girl in the waiting room was the top 100 girl names so we grabbed the list deleted the ones we didnt like and could only agree on 2 mia and olivia so thats how she got her name. Not very romantic!

Are you afraid something horrible will happen to you now you have left the Wt.
by Still Totally ADD ini remember many years ago we would talk about those who leave the org.
something bad will happen to them.
because god was mad at them for turning away from the wt.

Me and wifey really thought life would be crap once we left. Business would go downhil, kids would be ill again, marriage would end etc. All because jayhoorah was not giving us blessings.
Almost superstitious in a way. But in reality, life got better and better and better. As the mind lets go of all the sordid lies of the 'org', you replace them with ways to move forward, to better yourself and your family.
Ironically, we became the people we always said we were in the 'borg', helpful, empathetic, loving. More rounded in a 'human' way.
Dont worry about the kind of person you will end up being. Enjoy the journey. You have been in a mind controlling cult. Therefore you are unique, and you have a unique insight into life that the 'normal' person doesnt have. You can give far more than you may realise.

The Great IMPOSTERS....
by new hope and happiness inthis is a dangerouse thread.
i dont want to damage the reputation of great people, unless there is evidence to refute " who they claim to be".. so how about a list of " great" people that may be imposters.. one:-elie wiesel: the most famouse holocaust survivor.
nobel peace prize winner amoung his thosands of humanitarian awards.

Mother Teresa. While she accepted a Nobel Peace Prize, disabled kids were roped to metal cots to stop them escaping. Or is that under 'religeous nutjobs?'

Cognitive Dissonance and my JW Mum!
by lurkernomore inso, my mum is a massively obedient little dub!
i knew this before showing more negativity towards the borg.
i recently fell into the trap of shooting my mouth off about all the things that i felt were wrong with the borg, after her ass kissing comments got the better of me.. my other half's grandmother has also learned ttatt over the past few months as has most of her immediate familly in fact.

I wish my mum had some cognitive dissonance! She has NONE. If you mention anything to her, you get "well you aren't a lover of jehovah, so what would you know?" Or if you show her an article from the dubs own stash, its "You're twisting the words of the governing body, and therefore not acting in spirit and truth."
She literally looks down her nose at you as if she is a special possesion.
iTS INFURIATING!!! I could just walk away and do the reverse shun. But i've decided to give it one more year. I would like to know my REAL mum. 2015 is the year my mum finds out who she is.

what tv.jw.org REALLY is
by Nebeska Nada ini think that tv.jw.org is the greatest slap in the face that apostates ever received.. what do you think?.

Its not a slap in the face. It is, in my opinion, another ridiculous move by the org that could wake people up. Evangelical TV with the likes of Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggart were always getting slated by the witchtower when i was younger.
I think it could help some in the middle-aged bracket that were around then. Especially when they start doing a 'how you can keep gods cameras rolling' begging video.

Video of JW's street witnessing using a tablet ... getting owned by BIble users
by wannabefree ini came across this video ... and watched it ... why?
i don't know really, but i found it intersting.. especially interesting was how these men used the bible, they knew their message, they used an actual hard copy bible that has obviously been studied, and the older jw man, well, he was using a tablet.
it seemed cumbersome compared to using the actual bible.

At 12:45, the dude is reading Ps 148 v 13. He nearly finishes it before saying to the dub, "i`ll wait up 'till you find it". On your slow-pad.
Anyone remember looking up scriptures at the meetings and racing to be the first? It meant you were more spiritual than the rest!
Or feeling embarrassed turning up Joel Micah or Habakkuk and your pages were still a cacophony of panicked rustling when everyone else had found it minutes ago? With some child bethel pioneer prodigy just shaking their head at you? Freaks!!

Going on the OFFENSIVE
by Coded Logic inthe wtbts has an easy time painting x-witnesses as apostates because the direction of information is entirely one way.
and jws rarely get an opportunity to consider both sides of the equation for themselves.
i think that websites like this one are a great tool for those who are already questioning their beliefs or are already entirely out.

Great idea OneEyedJoe, my friend who is also an ex-dub owns a screen print business, and has just donated his time and materials for free. Any van sized vinyl banner, full colour. (vans are merc sprinter size)
If the van is parked legally, there is nothing that the dubs can do except get a big eyeful. It doesnt even need anyone to man it, maybe just keep an eye on it at a distance. Its passive, plus with a JWfacts blue logo on it, they are programmed to turn their attention toward it. They wont be able to help themselves!! Just think, thousands of them pouring into the hall, getting an eyeful, pouring out the hall to eat lunch, getting an eyeful, pouring out to get on a bus, getting an eyeful. Sat during the snooze fest, getting a minds eyeful. Talking about it on the bus.....you get the pic.

OneEyedJoe- I keep thinking about this, ie a sign that cant be removed by the dubs, or get asked to "move on". I have a number of big white vans that could be adorned with a vinyl sign of some kind, with slogans like the UN farce. Parked up outside an assembly hall, parking paid for the whole day. The dubs cant get you to move on, and signs on vans dont need planning permission.
Newcastle city hall anyone? Would work well there!

Aren't Watchtower literature trolleys and stands illegal?
by jwfacts inin many places it is illegal to set up a stand and sell things in public without council approval.
so why is it that jws can set up their trolleys in busy public areas without being asked to move on?
i saw this article this morning about muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in parramatta, because it is illegal.

Here in the Northeast of the UK, my town has a twice monthly market stall rented by the dubs. Costs them £80 quid per month that they all have to dip into pockets for. It's not allowed to be payed from the hall directly. And they have the al a carte (speaking not included) on the High Street everyday as well. All legit unfortunately...
