My 7 year old daughter was asked at end of class on friday to put her hands together and recite the lords prayer along with the rest of the tykes. She puts her hand up and asks the teacher "who is god?" The teacher replied "god is what you want god to be" So she tells the teacher " ok, i'll be praying to spongebob then"
god. Who's he again?....

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

How do you get a person to do things that they would normaly shy away from? Its the carrot and the stick! They need a gauge to measure 'spirituality' and then they can be rewarded with responsibilities. Everyone loves them!
Or have them taken away...mmm, everyone is suspicious of you and avoids you as your lack of spirituality may tarnish them....
There you have it. A willing slave of the mind. Easy.

Advise needed please
by EdenOne indear forumites, i need your advise please.. i would like to write a letter to the world headquarters of the jehovah's witnesses regarding a subject that i've published an article recently.
i would like to draw the attention of the gb to said article, which i will send in print form (therefore, no attention would be drawn to the website where it was published).. naturally, because i am a jehovah's witness in good standing in the congregation and what i'll be discussing in my letter will be a dissenting view from the official doctrine/practice, i want to protect my identity and i don't want to be harassed by elders or subjected to any sort of judicial investigation.
nevertheless, i would be very interested in reading their response (if any) to my letter.. how can i do that?

wouldn't it be nice if they said 'you know what, we've made millions in property sales recently, lets donate a couple million to a philipines relief fund..'
ten vans full, probably just for jw's.

Mmm. I'm sorry you felt the need to bail out on us. I was enjoying the discussion. I hope you find what you're searching for. I honestly believe that you are searching as you wouldnt have come here.
To search for answers is good. To say a particular group has the answers is dishonest and misleading. I do hope you come back and answer some of questions that still remain.

Emeth: thanks for this discussion. The answer you gave was a bit fluffy though.
Did Jesus approve more of a person who gave out of her all, or did he approve of those who gave a teeny tiny fraction of the riches they had accumulated?
The same with the Samaritan man. Jesus was asked by a man well versed in the law "what should i do to gain everlasting life?". Jesus replied to love neighbour as yourself, giving the Samaritan parable.
Did Jesus say only to help those with the same faith?
My point is that to help only jws first and then perhaps others is scripturaly wrong and also moraly wrong. It doesnt even feel right or sound right. Everyone is deserving of help.
Yes?

Ok, looking after your own. Fair enough. The point many are making here though is this:
How many bloodied, desperate, dying people do the jws have to walk/drive/fly past in their goal to help the chosen nation? And what about money thats left over from helping your own? Where does that go?
The widows mite. Jesus found more favour with 2 small coins being given to charity because it was all she had. The GB have billions. A surplus. More than they need.
Was Jesus wrong?

...so in effect, what you are saying is, that because donating to other charities goes to anybody, you will not donate. Giving money to the watchtower goes to jws, so you are comfortable with that?
Selective love for your fellow man.....? If your roof blew off in a storm, I would help you out with a donation.....even though you're a witness...I see no distinction in giving aid to someone because of race colour creed or religion.
Your religion, the 'true religion' does.
Is that what you are saying?
