Historian and former JW Jim Penton dies
by slimboyfat ini don’t know a lot about james penton but i think he deserves a better thread than the one currently on offer.
james penton, who died recently, grew up in a jw family in canada and served as an elder.
unusually for a jw, he studied liberal arts at university and became a history professor.

MY EXPERIMENT with new A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) refutes Watchtower chronology in a blazing one second of time
by Terry inbulletin (apple ios users only).
these secular sources and evidence suggest that the destruction of jerusalem by babylon took place in 537 bce, not 607 bce as jehovah's witnesses believe.. .
these problems with the watchtower society's reasoning suggest that their interpretation of the bible and the date of the destruction of jerusalem by babylon is incorrect.. .

I am asking for quotes from the organizations publications, where they spay that individual JWs should not hold beliefs other than what the organization teaches even if they keep it private.

Why isn't this forum growing like reddit exjw??
by nowwhat? inadmittedly it 90% crap over there but still they are up to 80k in subscribers.
over here it's the same half dozen or so that posts something, including myself.
why is that?.

honestly i think its as simple as there no mobile app, and the "mobile version" isnt too user friendly.
Young people arent googling JWs on a desktop or laptop.

For Born-Ins - If You Were 18 Again, What 7 Things Would You do Differently?
by Sea Breeze inhere's mine:.
1. go immediately to college and study construction management.
2. set up an ira and start contributing every year.

1. Dont necessarily leave the org but ask questions exposing the logical fallacies in every meeting study material for years. . . and years. . .and years, in other words stick around just to raise doubts and hope to help others exit
2. buy a second property, I already bought one property when I was 18.
3. open Roth Ira's and max them out,
4. support biblical unitarian ministries financially since I'd stay "pimo" as long as possible
5. start bands with my music friends
6. have kids earlier

Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?
by stan livedeath ina simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion.. (edit--i just noticed the typo in the header--if should be of ).

My wife, myself, and our newborn daughter whom the family has never met, shun us.
All 4of my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, the whole family 3 generations deep.
Thankfully most of the wifes family is out.
