What is you 'red line'?

today we hear a lot about red lines in political commentaries these days.

but for those of us who are pimos, what be your red line?

what would be the doctrinal change or event that would tip you over the edge into leaving for good, regardless of the repercussions?

Other than to laugh to myself, I don't really keep track of doctrine anymore. Yes, I'm pimo but for me now its just a matter of time & family matters, not doctrine.

Having said that though, if doctrinal change would be a red line for certain others, I could probably go straight to pomo. I don't support the bORG more than minimal and the elders don't seem to care enough to hassle me about it. Works for me for now but really just biding my time, may have to just cut loose if things don't go fast enough but would prefer a fade for familial reasons.

meanmrmustard - what I meant was not that the courts would remove him, but that they could give the office to whomever they wish after the removal is done (by the senate, as noted) this situation would be unprecedented and only the courts would settle a perceived or claimed fraudulent election. In case you missed the memo, the constitution has been dead for many years. Case in point - think about all the situations the police or feds can search you, your belongings, or seize the same... WITHOUT a warrant - then go back and read the constitution and see what probable cause was necessary to do.

I'm not saying anything did or didn't happen to validate the removal of Trump but I think by now it should be clear to most that real reasons don't need to exist for the will of the powerful to be impressed upon the less powerful.

People are exonerated all the time when evidence is overwhelming.

People are convicted all the time when evidence is lacking.

Those wielding the heavy hammer of JustUs do not need actual criminals to convict, they can simply point at a person and haul them off. And yes, I'm talking about the USA, where Trump is.

I'm simply relaying to you a possibility that may happen and that actual wrong-doing is not necessary to prove to get it done.

Factually & historically speaking, the courts can do whatever they deem fit (esp. SCOTUS) so if the POTUS is found to have gotten his position illegally then not only can he be removed from office but there would be nothing standing in the way of removing all his folks and handing the goods over to the "rightful owner(s)" who would probably be Clinton.

It would be a huge upset and not exactly legal but we've seen elections be given away on the basis of the opinions of courts before. Some people would be ecstatic and some would probably buy a lot more guns.

I'm not saying that all this would happen but it certainly could, and noone would be able to stop it.

what this is spoken here in this verse is being spoken by god. This is evident in context.

verses 16 and 17 go together well and say nearly the same thing, giving you a little perspective on who exactly is doing the forgetting here: the same one creating is the same one from whose eyes the former things are hidden.

Keep in mind though that heavens and earth don't always mean the literal form nor the forms that JWs teach.

Of course this is all a moot point if you don't consider the bible as having a divine origin.

There's a few assumptions in the question of the OP.

One is that they are deluded. In my opinion, they are not (at least not all of them)

The geebee is certainly not swindling, lying, controlling on accident due to some mistaken belief. I suspect some or all of them don't even believe in the bible/god/Jesus. I have no problem with that lack of belief generally but in top leadership of a religion, it should be a prerequisite.

In a cult, belief/fear of a deity could cause you to not want to purposely be an a$$hat to millions worldwide and would not be conducive to top leadership.

New Resolution

was anyone told today that there will be a new resolution coming in two weeks about tax receipts and donations?

there will be new changes to how these are handled.

we had a phone call tonight and our friend stated that it wouldn't be mentioned until another two weeks.

If its as skin said, not having enough to cover the tithe to the mother ship, the elders are supposed to review the amount that the hall has agreed upon and make adjustments if necessary. I doubt that ever happens but maybe they will combine your cong. at another hall instead and sell yours to make your people current on dues.

I'm just waiting for when that happens at the hall I'm pimo at. A most beautiful moment it will be.

Is the name Jehovah`s Witnesses a misnomer ?

i ask this because from what i read on this board lately is that they jw`s seem to be very reluctant to engage in conversation with anybody nowadays and are only interested in placing literature at carts.. and if anyone brings up questions in their d2d work that challenge them ( like the arc ) they will promptly excuse themselves and move on.

also didn`t jesus say "this good news of the kingdom would be preached in all the inhabited earth " for a witness ?.

when was the last time you heard a jw speak about "the good news of the kingdom" ?

Well, duh, because how can you be friends with someone without knowing and using their name? That's why JWs use the name. You should go to the local Kingdom Hall, maybe you would learn something!

Ok I was just kidding there, but more seriously... I don't remember the exact publication but I think it was an older (1950s maybe) OD book where they admitted that they prefer the form Yahweh but used the Jehovah form because it was so widely recognized.

I think that's a holdover from using the King James bible where the J form was used in PS 83:18

What's in a name anyway? A rose by any other name will still make you bleed; a god by any other name will still destroy you at the big A.. or was that the big Trib... Who can keep all that stuff straight anymore?

Yeah I guess real bible following people should be Jesus' witnesses since that's what he said they would be, or is the JW moniker some hidden admission that certain verses make little j out to be the same One as big J?

In any case, I'm sure is not rare for folks here and the rest of the planet at large to notice how bad the JWs stink at doing their so-called god given work.

If I were big J, I'd be pissed, and they'd be fired!

CLAM MEETING Dumbing down

so yesterday was the midweek meeting - the first of the month for december so instead of locals doing the little talk skits we get the on screen shadow puppets.. after each one the ms taking the item asks the congregation for "positive" comments.. part way through i get a text from a pimo brother enduring the show which reads thus (and i quote word for word ...).

"it's like listening to a bunch of people from a mental institution.
