Korean News : CoC in Korean
by AntiEntropy inhi bros.. after my father's publishing his book, "15 questions after 40 years of jw" , many ex-jw bros in korea became motivated to rush to the coc korean project.
however any secular project needs a fund eventhough it's a not-for-profit.
fortunately, a bunch of bros decided to donate generously $300~$7,000 to this unprofitable business.

@jookbeard is right waiting several months to get a world wide publishing effort organized is too much to ask. Brilliant logic.
It's like saying well If I wait for you to sell your house it will be an eternity.I'll just sell it for you and reap the rewards. Such backward cavalier logic with someone else's property.

...then that's exactly how you should handle it Dark.
for us and without outing myself our families are so deeply intertwined at the highest of levels of this thing it would create a title wave miles long. Just not an option for me so I do my best to find a way to deal with it all.
If not for that I'd be completely gone myself but alas I don't have that option so I make do.

This email from 2001 is not an endorsement.
I can tell you though COC will not be published where copyright laws are upheld without it being funneled through Deb's publishing company*.

...and lastly you should do whatever best fits your personal conscience. For me it is a means to an end to prevent any inquisition. However it can feel too like you're condoning things. it's a balancing act you have to sort out for yourself. You should be supported regardless of how you go about it as no one I mean NO ONE should have to go through any of it. -

I wouldn't get too caught up in it. We're doing much the same. Nearly the identical situation.
Here's how we look at it. The sprinkling in attendance for us is not for anyone else or because I'm compelled to do so. It diffuses the situation.
Lastly, have fun with it while you're there!. Believe it or not there are things that you can say that will rattle those that pressure you where you can almost let them know I'm not buying this mess anymore but at the same time they can't pin it on you.
I'll give you an example I had happen not too long ago. A brother who is the type that is always putting on the guilt trip was gloating at how the organization is so exacting regarding the date of Jesus memorial.
I replied casually with..."you know I've always wondered how that works out given that us celebrating the memorial on the 23rd of March, would make it impossible for the Festival of Tabernacles, a holiday Jesus attended, be celebrated on the date commanded in Leviticus 23".
Now I've done a ton of research on this topic and so I'm rather certain of it all. There was no place he could go that I wasn't prepared for. The look on this brother's face when I said this...priceless. He wanted to lash out but I asked it in such a humble I don't understand way but with naming scriptures and pointing out this festival was clearly important to Jesus what could he say?
He replied with..."well I'm sure they have people a lot smarter than you and I at Bethel. I said well they certainly have the time for study since we forego college...what a blessing". See I took what he said and made a subtle dig that none of them are college educated.
I've gotten to the point now where it is just so easy to say things in a way that they can't pin anything on you but you can make them think...and think hard.
When you're armed with truth there's not much they can do in the pressure department. Just try to form it in the form of a question. Make a game out of it.
By the way this is not my tactic. I can't take credit for the "make a game out of it" mentality. Another ex'er told me this when I first awoke. It has been fantastic for me as I too get pretty bummed out with it all myself.
So have fun with it especially with those that take the hardline, pressuring you with guilt! It will actually give you a chuckle.

Im wondering...maybe the GB are truly mentally damaged, not just deceivers.
by sowhatnow inhas anyone by chance read the latest issue of pshychology today?
april issue, article title' moment of impact'.. i havent fiished reading it yet, but it got me thinking, how likely is it that many born in jws [ teens in particular since thats the age these issues start to appear] will end up with these problems mentioned in the article?
i know of a few adults that have this problem, schizophrenia, bi polar, ect.

I know many want to hate and think the GB are villains but that simply isn't an accurate characterization in my opinion.
Are they aware that their decisions are at times dangerous, may even cause loss of life yes I believe their consciences get tested. I wouldn't argue that.
However what I think it comes down to is what Ray Franz said. They are victims of victims. The "ideal" of the organization is like an organism. It just keeps growing. It has become so big that even the GB have been blinded by the idea of it all that they buy into waiting on Jah and don't bring reproach and I really am being directed by God.
They mistake things that happen in life as proof of this direction ironically in the same manner they say others mistake themselves as anointed.
I honestly believe this. Could their be some that are just evil or out to live a cush life on a pedestal? Sure but I doubt it.
They've literally sold themselves on the idea of what the organization is so much so that the reality has little chance of permeating.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

The thing to remember is that the final verses of Leviticus 17 are pretty clear what the penalty of eating this sort of flesh was.
And every person who eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean. 16 But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he shall bear his iniquity.”
Basically take a shower and be unclean for the evening. So although the command to not eat blood is clear in my mind the fact that someone taking it is considered to have disassociated himself or is disfellowshipped goes grossly outside the bounds of the scriptures.
Interesting that these final verses are rarely if ever read or quoted by the Watchtower.
See they can't back off of it now. Too many have been killed. They're stuck with the hard and fast blind prohibition that completely ignores the sanctity of life in a trauma situation.
