by purrpurr ini see the jw rumour mill is going into mad overdrive about prince.
the stories seem to be more and more unlikely.
so i thought as a bit of fun how about us here try to make up our own rumours?

Sadly unless they are threatened with imprisonment I don't see how anything changes here other than they pay fines and lose a judgment.
Even then I would imagine those that would be imprisoned would NOT be the governing body members but those who are officers of the corporations.

If Prince had an addiction to prescriptions drugs, it's a personal matter but if I want to grow a beard or attend college, it's not.
by ToesUp ininteresting article i found about prince and the jw religion.
i guess they are trying to get their 15 minutes of fame.
i find it disturbing that the elder stated if prince had an addiction to prescription drugs, that is a personal matter but the hundreds of intrusive jw rules like going to college (not scriptural) and growing a beard (also not scriptural) are not also considered a personal choice.

They make him sound like regular joe publisher. I just don't see that at all. -

Prince was on the board of directors for the WTS
by Barrold Bonds ini was talking with a friend of mine who knows a few people in the home department at bethel.
apparently, prince was, as i noted in the title, on the board of directors.
he apparently was sort of a silent partner or advisor in the whole thing.

I find all this impossible to believe. -

Is Larry Graham an Elder?
by ShirleyW ini think he is, but i"m not too sure.
just wondering because looking at that purple pimp outfit with hat that he wore to prince's memorial, i wonder if he ever gave a talk wearing the same outfit, when i've read here that some brothers were talked to for wearing a pastel colored shirt while giving a talk..

@Barrold Bonds Oh I don't doubt it, but at least from my experience bros were definitely counseled for wearing suits that were too flashy or really bright colors. -

It sounds, bad, but it's true. Black brothers in black communities get an incredible amount of leeway in what they can wear.
Oh man not from what I've seen. My body has gotten on guys before, for flash suits etc. Sure it differs from area to area but, I've not seen this sort of leeway.

Celebrities , Adulation , Lifestyle , is this for Jehovah`s Witnesses ? Isn`t it a form of Idolatory ?
by smiddy inof course this thread is inspired by princes sad death , yet i wonder how the average j.w.
nowadays.. from what i have gleaned from the many threads about his death their seems to be a reverence about him even on pro-j.w.
sites.. i have been out for about 25 years , yet in my time in the "truth" anything that put you on a pedestal was a no , no.. competition in any form was discouraged , sports especially.

Back in the day we had congregations playing other congregations in football. it got pretty serious. Was like the dang super bowl. It was awesome but of course it got squashed.
Total tangent here just made me think of it.
Interestingly image and positioning of such has become of importance whereas this would have been a no no in years past. Such a different organization now.

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

Then let's discuss abiogenesis and chemical evolution, without needlessly conflating the discussion with biological evolution or supposed supernatural entities.
Never said you had to said you can't rule it out. And never said "God" because that's an assumption also. Considering the amount of suffering in the world if there was an intelligent being he/she/it may not be as most see them.

@Jehalapeno I think you forgot that latter part "The Deal Breaker"
There was no chicanery here. I was open and honest about the stop gap for me personally.
Quite frankly I'm astonished that many refuse to admit the obvious here. Whatever the starting factors were, they are needed in order to see fruition.
Without the starting even there is no evolution. There is no creation nada
I'd love to have a conversation about the science behind what or how evolution began.
My apologies that it is a tough topic, doesn't mean it shouldn't be discussed just because it's hard or you don't have a definitive response.
In my brief research and I plan on doing much more, this is a serious problem for evolution and hence why so many want to act as though they are separate animals. I don't see it that way since you need this event in order to start evolution.
