T. Poole, what is wrong with being Pentacostal? I think I read in another thread somewhere that you recomended a Baptist church to someone, does that mean you are Baptist? Once saved always saved?
Religion is a way of life. We need to accept that and keep going.
I believe there will be souls from most denominations in Heaven. We are not chosen because of the denomination we choose but because of the life we live for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sorry, I may be off the topic a little but I had to get that out.

hello people, i would like to know the take the jw's have on this bit of scripture taken from the kjv of luke 16; 22-23..... 22 and it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into abraham's bosom: the rich man also died and was buried;.

23 and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth abraham afar off, and lazarus in his bosom.. will someone tell me the spill on this piece of scripture?

aChristian and Moxy, Hell is a real place in the center of the earth. I don't care who and when it was talked about in ancient times, Jesus said it was and so I believe it. The End!

If we call ourselves christians, shouldn't we take that which crist has said and hold it dear to our hearts. Why would he say the rich man lifted his eyes in "hell" if there were no Hell?

If you all don't accept that there is no actual place as Hell, then explain to me what was meant when in the book of Revelation, John said that "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"? That is Rev. 20: 14.

Also, I will not continue to converse with you because your mind is warped. Whatever cult you were in has really did a number on you. You can't even accept the fact that you need help. Anyone with your frame of mind need to be off the street. I wonder if prayer will do any good for you anyway, you blaspheme The Holy God. Abaddon, I will pray for you. You need some phsycological intervention. You must be one of those people who believe we just happened in the universe and evolved.
If there was a big bang, God spoke it!! LET THERE BE LIGHT!!
We will see in the end the answers to all these questions on this forum and more unasked. You just better hope you are right! If not, you wont have another chance at it!!!!!

Christiangal, I, too, am a christian! I came to this site to find out why people willingly throw out all common sense to join the JW's, i.e. my cousin.
Instead and with, I found out, although they find out the truth about their blessed Org., they never really leave it. Well, I can't say that for all of them, but for the most of them this is true.
I continue to ask questions on the forum and in chat rooms, and I am usually gone off on and put down for what I believe in. It is a good sign, I don't want all men to speak good of me!!
I have also learned not to try and convert them. I just try to tell them the needed and wash my hands clean of them. It is their choice to believe or not. God has made us free-moral agents.
As for the Native-Americans, God said He has instilled in us all that which we must know to get to heaven, ( not His exact words).
The only ones who will not be held accountable for not believing are the babies (and the ones who are born without the ability to take in the Plan of Salvation as we can).
I plan to go to that Heaven and live with my Savior forever more, even if there are no Oreo's there. LOL
You ex-JW's need to start taking the bible seriously!! It is not God's fault you went against His reasoning He gave you. YOU choose to throw it away and believe a lie!!! aChristian, God help us to understand. The Jews are the only ones who will have a second chance to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Messiah. After the rapture of the church, they will then be given the chance they gave up when they crucified the Christ.
Your belief in the scripture at hand is still shadowing what you were taught as a JW. This account is an actual happening!
No debating here though folks!! I really just wanted to know their take on it. For give me for...no, I won't apologize. Just like I came to learn theyr take, I give mine. No translation needed for me!!!!!!

In the 19 verse of this same account states that a "certain" rich man.... That leads us to know that Jesus is giving us an actual acount of a happening.
How did they come up with that explaination? Jesus never said hell was close to heaven. Abraham's bosom was a holding place-a paradise, for those who served God and died. Once Jesus rose from Hell, conquering it, the souls that were in Abrahams bosom went on to be in heaven with our Father.
In the same passage it says that there was "a great gulf fixed" that is one reason why the beggar could not do the deed, (as if he wanted to anyway).
How can people explain away these kinds of verses? I don't understand.
But as I continue to ask questions, I continue to get the answers. Be they ridiculous or not, I still get the the answers!
Did they, the GB, ever read the part in the bible that says, "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Child, Marriage and THEN Baptism?

my cousin met a man, jabbar, fell in love with him, had a baby for him and then they decided to get married.

My cousin met a man, Jabbar, fell in love with him, had a baby for him and then they decided to get married. That is not to much out of the norm in this time and age, right?
Jabbar was brought up as a JW. His mom is deeply involved with the cult. His sister does not go to meetings, for that matter neither does he (as far as I know). Dad is not participating in JW things either.
The problem: my cousin, Cass, has been through a lot with her parents and different ones in her life while growing up. Her marriage is in trouble because of many reasons but communication and sex (the lack thereof) are the main ones.
Her husband finally moved out of the house after a disagreement between the two of them. She tried to commit suicide, but ended up in an institution for a while.
I was the only person there for her through all of this. While I was not physically there, I was just a phone call or an IM away. She talked to me and I listened to her. She cried and I cried. I was there for her.
My Question is, WHERE WERE THE JW'S THEN?!!!!!!
For some reason, they are now coming around and having bible studies and now she is attending services and the like. She has told me she is looking to get baptized this summer!!!
Her husband has not come back to her even through her time of depression and attempted suicide but he has not closed the door completely either. He is holding on or should I say keeping her holding on for some reason. (She is the stupid one but don't tell her I said that)!
If she accepts the terms of baptism and does it will she be considered married to an unbeliever? Does that free her up to celebrate holidays if he want her to do so? (Dec. 15, 2002 WT)
What are the terms of women divorcing men with the JW's?
She is falling deeper into this JW thing and I know she will drop me like a hot biscuit when she get baptized.
