I'm not going anywhere, I wish I had discovered this site 10 years ago. :)
my favourite post on jwn is the new posts.
so i'd like to start a 'welcome' list of all the new people who have joined in the last 6 months, i cant remember all of them so can you add anyone you know of?
welcome to....... roostermcdooster.
durex's global sex survey has found that 44% of adults worldwide have had one-night extramarital sex and 22% have had an affair.according to a 2004 united states survey, 16% of married partners have had extramarital sex, nearly twice as many men as women, while an additional 30% have fantasized about extramarital sex.
there were also studies that have shown rates of extramarital sex as low as 2.5%.as many authors conclude, these kinds of estimates are probably understated because extramarital sex is commonly disapproved.. .
what do you think is it ethical to confess an extramarital affair?.
First of all I think those % are low. only 44% is that a global or national %? For what age group?
Second, I think is falls down to what one can handle with his/her conscience more than if it's ethical. It's a bit like abortion, there's people who do it and who's concience is okay with the reasons that lead them to the action so move on like nothing ever happened, never think about it and others who can't move on and start have all sorts of thoughts bothering their conscience.
I would look at it if this is something that happened once or more and what lead to it, i.e. is the couple going through issues, or is the cheating partner displaying constant tendencies that could lead to cheating? For example: I am so not a flirty person, I'll turn my swag on only if I'm interested in the person but by nature I've never been flirty, however my husband is. That he realizes it or not I'm not sure, after all the years I know him I think it's more a case that he seeks too much approval from those around him, only that with other females that often translates in him using a vocabulary that I consider too personal or flirtatious. I lost count of times when we had this conversation, which makes my blood boil, but I also try to control myself because I know I come from the complete opposite of not caring for others' approval nor being flirtatious, so I ask myself if I overreact and I try to be not too paranoid. Also I understand that men antropologically feel more the need to know they still "got it" and often flirting is nothing more than a self ego boost, but there have been instances of female work colleagues that have misinterpreted his friendliness/caring attitude for more so in that case the bitch in me had to step in to remind them who I am.
Now, I trust him, and unless I am the one to give him a hall pass, should he ever cheat and I find out he knows I will skin his tool and throw salt on it, and if you knew me best believe I see my words through, but if it had to be a one time off, I wouldn't wanna know. That would just hurt me and do more damage than else.
If it had to be an affair, I probably would want to know, because in my books, an affair of any length indicates there's problems in the couple that aren't so superficial and then as couple we would have to make a decision if we are to fix those issues or call it quits.
And when I said one off I mean ONE, not one off with a different person, but someone who has 30 different people, lol!
I'd do the same if was me the one who cheated. If it's a one off, probably I would not tell, if was an affair then I'd probably be emotionally involved with someone else and I would then take measures to tell my spouse.
i can only recall one occasion.
it was when my brother and future wife were dating.
they had dinner at my parents' house, along with her uber-zealous/borderline psychotic parents.
@ Apognophos indeed, but you can trust whole congregations flocked to watch Indiana Jones and the last Crusade because it said the name of God was Jehovah!! I know my congregation did! Even tho Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was banned.
How pathetic!

Absolutely! I wasn't allowed to watch so many movies/tv series when living with my parents. As a teen in the 90s my big thing was Beverly Hills 90210 and used to be broadcasted on thursday night, meeting night, so soon as I got my driving license and car I used to breeze off the KH to catch it the 2nd episode. No Tivo or re-runs those days lol. I got away with it until my mom was home sick one day and happened to watch it and after that it was banned.
But wasn't just movies with sex scenes, practically all Arnie's movies I wasn't allowed to watch and with that all B movies for too much violence. They wouldn't even let me watch WWE :/
Movies are a big passion of mine so that's one of the first things I did when I left home, I run through every single film/tv show I wasn't allowed to watch in my early years. And guess what? I'm still a normal person.
i've just noticed that the logo for jw.org is a registered trademark.. this is how the logo appears on the back cover of the new magazines.... .
maybe i'm overthinking this, but i'm struggling to understand why a website for a religious organization that purports to be involved in not-for-profit educational work needs to register a trademark for its website.
a trademark is something commercial companies use to protect their goods or services.
secret santa 2012. with only 7 weeks to go until christmas, should we start to do something now, especially for those posting overseas.
just a thought.
Sorry didn't see this before. I'm in.
can jws be df/da for giving their kid a blood transfusion?.
A friend of mine got DF twice separate occasions of course, first time was for allowing her teen unbaptized son who had an accident and was in a life threatening situation to receive blood. That was abt 9-10 years ago
Then later she returned inside and 5 years ago she got DF for the most stupid reason I've ever heard.
She's an artist and she made an abstract painting of a pregnant woman, if I find it online I'll post it here, anyhow, she wanted to submit some of her work for a prestigiuos prize in her country but realized the work she wanted to submit belonged to categories that were already closed, there were only 2 categories left open and one of these was titled "Holy Art" . She submitted the abstract pregnant woman and she actually won the first prize.
Then got DF for apostasy. I laughed so hard when she told me the story.
hi all, man i am having a hard time getting into the christmas groove this year, just cant get into it, i think i would bag the whole thing, but i have these 4 grand-daughters that really like me, my house etc.
to be full of christmas fun!!
any help, hints, etc.
Music usually does it for me too. I was out for lunch today and the restaurant had carols on despite not having decorations up yet and that put me in the mood so tomorrow I'm putting up my tree.
my short list; lynard skynard, beach boys, carole king, yes, doobie brothers, rod stewart, ringo starr.. all star band, styx, gordon lightfoot, moody blues.
can you tell i like the older stuff?.
Not necessarily a fan of all of them but I like live shows so if someone comes in town I'll go see them.
