i began to see the light the same year i got my concealed weapons permit.

Gold Member......That was a good post. That is why I got the KJV, I had a feeling the NWT was shall we say, full of it. And boy were you right about the heavy load. I figured it out once....when you take into account your personal study, the Bible reading, the family study, the preparation for the book study, the watchtower study, the ministry school and service meeting, then the actual attendace of these five meetings, along with the time spent in field service which was supposed to be the congregation average.....counting the time it take to get dressed, and drive there in time for the recommended amount of association.....do you have ANY idea how much time this takes up? It is something like 60 hours per month! Add that on top of raising a family and putting food on the table and it is a wonder these people don't go postal in mass.

well, i guess it is time to share my story with you all.
most of the recent events in my life i have already shared in bits and pieces throughout various threads here on the jwd.. i am 47 years old and have one sister who is 44. we grew up in a religously divided household.
my father was and still is a jw and my mother is still a devout bible student.

when leaving the borg, it takes time for our real identities to assert themselves or we try out new things to see what fits us and our life.
here are a couple of things that are new to me lately:.
1) after a frightening incident a week ago (but nothing happened) i purchased a can of pepper spray.
"I hope it never comes here." Hmmmmmm how to respond to this without sounding rude.......Did you know that the crime rate in England has shot up to VERY high levels after they almost completely (more than they already did) banned firearms? Think about this....how do strict gun laws work anyway? Criminals by their very nature do not give a rats rear about laws, so they will not obey any gun control law. Whereas the law abiding do not even need any laws because they police themselves. Personally, I do not need 20,000 or more gun control laws (in this country alone) when I have the ten commandments. Did you hear about the Colombine High School shooting? Those kids commited more than 15 Felonies. No law of any kind will stop someone from doing anything they REALLY want to do. IMHO all gun free zones (or countries) do is create killing fields for cowards. And most of these wacko's are cowards.....the threat of a little return fire makes them think twice. My state is a perfect example. Since the "shall issue" law was passed that made it easy for the law abiding to get a carry permit, violent crime has gone WAY down in our state......and it has in EVERY state where the same law was passed. Criminals just do NOT like people to shoot back.
The reason I carry a gun is NOT because I live in fear. I carry for many reasons, but I guess the main reason is the fact that since I am quailified to, and didn't carry, I might have to answer to my creator one day for letting something very bad happen (use your imagination) that I COULD have at least had a CHANCE to keep from happening. My god, for example if I were one of the lone survivors after the Lubby's restaurant killings, how could I possibly live with myself if I knew that if I would have had a firearm I would have had a very good chance of stopping this cowardly killer. How many lives could have been saved? I do not wish to get into a debate (and will not) here over the good verses the bad when it comes to guns. Feelings can get hurt very fast on a subject such as this. But guns are here to stay. If somehow every firearm on the face of this earth were to suddenly vanish AND be banned, more would be on the streets the next day.....made in criminals workshops. Criminals will ALWAYS have a big stick.....from Cain onward.

been reading some of the demon stories posted from time to time on this forum.
i for one am skeptical of them all because many of people i knew who reported such experiences seemed to be either mentally or emotionally unstable.
i've personally never had any such experiences despite my ac/dc and led zeppelin collection - and never wanted to.
Oh yes, burn the modem and bury the ashes. Then go to the elders and confess. Remember, they know anyway and are just waiting to see how long it takes you come clean. LOL

just sharing a bit of news that i recieved today from my only living parent,my mama.my mama is a full fledged in the borg programed subject.the phone call came today.she said she was a bad girl and had been disobedient and that this would be her last phone call.at first she softened the blow by saying "honey.i just called to tell you how much i love you"i responded with a inner smile and said "awe,that's so nice,i love you too"she then said "no,you don't understand i am calling to tell you that this will be our last communication other then emergency and death situations"i then kinda of lost it.i informed her that was crap!i mean back in 1981 you cut me and my siblings off for 12 years,then after we have survived or at least were functional in our lives you come back and say"opps,sorry but there is new light and now we can love you again".
during this time i being a dutiful daughter,forgave them and welcomed them back into my life which had been missing there love.it was so nice being able to do things for them and care for them when they were ill.visits became a yearly occurence and they even visited with me.. although this was not in the least unexpected,it is still a shock.i have reacted in various ways.if i am dead too her then she is dead too me.i don't give flowers to dead people,i show unconditional love to them when they are living and can recipercate by giving unconditional love in return.. as far as recieving health bulletins or in my case calling and saying"hi,mama my hep c is whatever".
i am not calling period.. it may seem foolish and childish but i have removed her pictures.the ones of her and dad together are still on my wall.. it is a sad day when your parent,the one who gave birth to you says she loves you but can't show you.. she said it is in the bible,but when my siblings and i ask where she says i can't tell you because you are in the dark and not allowing the light.
Wow. It is really wierd to think that there are so many stories that are almost the same. I just sent Sooner and Sentinel an email telling them I am so very sorry that they thought I was their brother. I reread some of my posts, and I can certainly see how they must have thought this. It was not my intention to do this, I am not a cruel person. But take heart, he may have these thoughts and you just do not know it. Some people like me, have brought the meaning of living a double life to a whole new standard. But I think I would really like to meet their brother, it sounds like we might get along real good. Again, I really feel bad about this, and I'm sorry you thought I was him.

Dear TuningFork......I'm sure that your brother will never leave you. And I'm sure that your brother was just mortified over the tone he ended up taking with his mother. Something inside me says that he has never so much as raised his voice to her in the past, or was even ever "mad" at her.....at least not that he could probably remember. You must know that he, as you, loves her very much. Even though you seem to be maybe a little more, shall we say, celestial than the rest of your siblings, I'm sure that they, as I do, completely understand your feelings. I'm also sure that when your brother talked to your mom, that when he said anything about you, it was meant more to make her THINK about what she was doing. I have a feeling that your brother has never treated you as if you were the "ill" one in the family. He must love all his sisters very much.

just had a good phone call with a friend i met on this board...got me to thinking about my life as a jw.
he's been "out" almost as long as i was "in.".
i was a reg pub at 6 years old, decided (yes, a very deliberate decision) to go to bethel when i was 8 years old, and was baptized at 10 years old (in 1962).
I can certainly relate to this thread....I think we all can. As for myself, the hardest thing to do is make new friends. Until I was almost 37 I had NO worldly friends. I also owned my own business that was going nowhere. Then a thought hit me. Treat the people that I am trying to get work from, like they were my friends. It took awhile, but soon I had more business than I knew what to do with....and many new friends. Like I have stated in other threads, I have a few "worldly" friends that are better than ANY I ever had at the hall.
BTW, one nice thing about growing up at 37 is getting to watch all the reruns of My Favorite Martian, I Dream Of Gennie, Bewitched, The Outer Limits, and The Trilight Zone, that are all NEW to me. LOL. Not to mention movies that are new like Saving Private Ryan, and other "bad" movies.
