Thanks guys, will spread the word!
Is it possible to have this thread pinned to the top of the page? I know other forums have something similar set up?. Always feel weird joining a forum and not introducing myself.

Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers that have joined this forum lately.
by smiddy3 ini`m sure you have all noticed the ever increasing number of newbies and lurkers who have visited this site over the past months and i am sure we could all collectively welcome them to this site and support them on learning the ttatt .
and helping them to navigate how they can look up older publications and quotes of the wtb&ts that they would rather remain hidden.. we all know jehovah`s witnesses /governing body never apologizes for mistakes they make they just don`t mention them anymore and explain it away as new light from god.. actually a big cop out.. welcome to all you who are new to this site .. every day their seems to be someone new posting which is great .. and if this is any indication of what is happening in all other ex jw sites the wtb&ts are in deep trouble .

Ever notice a lot of JWs don't have pets?
by JimmyYoung ini was told by several elders to not get a dog when i was looking for one in the 80s.
the end was close and we needed to focus on the preaching work.
i know some have pets but a lot don't.

Thinking back, know of plenty that had fairly low maintenance pets such as Cats, who pretty much come and go as they please, Hamsters etc... But don't remember any dogs, I'm guessing for reasons already mentioned on here, that they'd be too much of a distraction from Jehovah

Good idea for a topic, shame I didn't see it first.
I stopped going to meetings c2006 as a teenager and was never really into it. Discovered this website a few days ago and found it really interesting reading different accounts of how people woke up. Particularly found it interesting just how many of you are/were PIMO, some for years, and now when I see a group of witnesses out on the FS I'm going to wonder how many of them are actually into what they're doing.
Anyway, great website and it's nice to for those people who are PIMO that they have support from people around the world β€

A couple of relatives and myself had "anniversaries" but they weren't on our birthdays. So what they were anniversaries for, I have no idea? π€£ -

I know of plenty of families that will have a roast, get out the special vino, tub of roses/quality street etc... basically Christmas without the tree and presents.
Kids in my area used have a "anniversary", whatever that was? Cake, jelly, games, maybe a bouncy castle, all in a hired community hall.

Hope bouncing this thread doesn't break any rules...
Around 15 years ago, there used to be 4 teams that would play each other (half a full size astro and 7-a-side) on Sunday evenings in Hastings. Teams were named after congs in Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne, but players weren't really from those congs. Think one or two would travel from Brighton to play.
Afterward would be a less competitive game that was typically attended by players of a "lesser" ability or those not as competitive, including kids and older brothers. Sometimes people who were studying or related to a JW but not one themselves might get invited to join.
I remember once playing in a proper tournament at the same venue, same rules and set up, but more teams, pretty sure there were one or two teams from London playing and the tournament would last all afternoon. You might not be posting on here anymore but did you play in this tournament?
Brothers would also hire a sports hall midweek.
There was the odd occasion an argument occured if someone got too competitive, but that's about it.
I stopped playing when I stopped going to meetings.

Would You Ever Go Back To The Witnesses??
by minimus inevery once in a while you hear people say they actually βmissβ their old witness friends and or family.
some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

For a couple of years after I stopped going to meetings, thunderstorms used to make me a bit nervous, silly I know...
These days, I'm more nervous about Trump, Boris Johnson and Kim Jong having easy access to that big red button in their office π¬
