i'm watching the cbs series strange angel.

it is based on a true story about jack parsons, who along with others, pioneered rocket development in 1930's america.. "strange angel, a drama series created by mark heyman (black swan, the wrestler) and based on george pendle's book of the same name, explores the dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction.. the story follows the life of jack parsons, a mysterious and brilliant man in 1930s los angeles, who by day helps birth the entirely unknown discipline of american rocketry, and by night is a performer of sex magick rituals and a disciple to occultist aleister crowley.".

I would take exception to a couple of statements made in this OP however others might disagree.

Page 9 of this book says this: "Charles Taze Russell, founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses

I would argue that C.T.Russell founded the "International Bible Students Association" not the Jehovah`s Witnesses ,C.T. Russell never identified himself as a Jehovah`s Witness .

J.F.Rutherford usurped the followers of Russell after his death and he was the founder of the Jehovah`s Witness religion stating that they would now be identified as Jehovah`s Witnesses.

When Russell announced to his congregation in Brooklyn, New York, that the end had begin, he meant the finale was not an instantaenous end to all things, but rather the beginnign of the end as outlined in the Book of Revelation - the appearance of the Antichrist and the harlot, Babylon the Great, being two of the key events.

I believe that is bullshit ,Russell initially believed that 1914 was the end of the known world and that all the Faithful, his followers would be in heaven by 1918-19

Just my take on what has been presented in the opening OP without looking at the links and I stand to be corrected in what I have stated

well it has been a year now and if you look at the definition of imminent , we are well past the expiration date..

And probably in 1919 -20 also Gorby they never look at the big picture do they .

Syria ,Afghanistan ,war zones ,potential hot spots still in places like the South China Seas ,and if they are thinking of Nth and Sth Korea who are they trying to kid ? Even if peace did eventuate their that`s not influencing politics or military threats any where else in the world.

Well, sad to say that because the G.B. dumb`s down education so much the majority of J.W`s just don`t have any idea of what the word imminent really means.

My little pocket Oxford Dictionary states "about to happen soon"... damn that`s another word Jehovah`s Witnesses have trouble understanding the meaning of.Also impending refer back to imminent .

Then again J.W`s have been conditioned to believe that a thousand years with Jehovah is like one day ( 24 hr.) and one day is like a thousand years ( year being 365 24 Hr.days)

So you must wonder why the words imminent , impending ,soon , even get the J.W`s excited in the first place ?

oh that`s right education or the lack of.

Strange conundrum

i just had a thought inspired by @newboy's recent post:.

why is it that despite the watchtower corporation being arguably the biggest publishing house in history, having produced billions of tracts, brochures, magazines, books for o very 100 years, and having the largest army of volunteer publicity agents on the planet, that 99% of the population is still clueless as to what their message is all about?.

if you ask random people what jw's beleive you will rarely get the so-called "good news": gods kingdom is going to soon usher in a paradise earth and fix all the worlds problems under the 1000 year reign of christ.. you will instead get: "they're the people who... 1. don't celebrate christmas or birthdays, 2. don't take blood, 3. go around with the watchtower, 4. have big assemblies... etc etc".

Good points doubtfull1799 and I personally believe it has a lot to do with their name Jehovah`s Witnesses and their main publication "The Watch Tower Announcing Jehovah`s Kingdom" and their emphasis on that name Jehovah.

Christians in general throughout the earth have been conditioned through the Centuries to accept that Jesus Christ is the King of Gods Kingdom and that he is the one to worship .Jesus is the one that gave his life under suffering and is the central point of Christianity." The name of Jesus is to be above every other name in heaven on earth and under the earth." according to the New Testament.

Jehovah`s Witnesses came along and preached an "Old testament God Jehovah" and have never ever done so effectively enough to compete with what Christendom has accomplished over the Centuries.

Jehovah`s Witnesses main accomplishments have come from poaching Christendoms non attendees ,those ignorant of their faiths beliefs ,and those that are most vulnerable in society with few exceptions.

They have had zilch success by comparison in the non Christian world .

1st Birthday Celebration

our first birthday celebration was a total success😍the kids had a blast.

the neighborhood kids said that it was the best party they have ever been to.

Excellent Whynot no decapitations and you never got struck down by a bolt of lightning and the best part is the children had a great time and what`s wrong with that ?

In Eve’s account in the apocryphal Apocalypse of Moses of her encounter in Eden with the Snake, she says that Satan, who is like an angel, seduced Snake and offered to talk through the Snake on his behalf.

Whatever made you think that Satan was involved in the Eden story?

“Christians” go to war and kill each other.

JWs refuse to go to war.

The God that Jehovah`s Witnesses worship was / is a warmonger that is undeniable from the first book of the Bible Genesis to the last book of the Bible Revelation.

Where he often condoned genocide using the Israelite`s to carry out his purpose especially in the books of the Old Testament.So Jehovah God was happy to use humans to carry out his slaughtering of humans then ,old men women and children.And his command not to feel sorry for them.

In the New Testament we have contradictions where his son Jesus Christ is portrayed as the Prince Of Peace and yet is depicted as the one who destroys all of his enemy`s in Gods War of Armageddon. Again old men young women and children and not to feel sorry for them .

And while Jehovah`s Witnesses don`t actually participate in warfare today they certainly condone it of the warmonger Jehovah God who is still intent according to the scriptures that Jehovah`s Witnesses believe in to annihilate the majority of humans on this planet and only preserve alive J.W.`s like he did in Noah`s day .

Jehovah God is a hypocrite and so are Jehovah`s Witnesses and for that matter so is Jesus .

Not too much out of the ordinary I`m afraid the wife and I spent a few hours down at the local club where I downed a few ales she had a champers ( wifey was the designated driver ) and we came home with $600 from the pokies /slots which put icing on the cake for the day.
