i was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.
if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?
would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.
I have a tattoo on my arm that I got when I was sixteen and before i became a JW ,and when I became a JW it was never an issue and I served as a MS for many years .And resisted being made an Elder.
The problem that some had must do with the control some Elders had within their congregations.
sometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.
they showed them going to great lengths to get customer feedback on what was important to them.
one customer said that she wanted it to be easy to get her appliances serviced when they broke down.
Getting your brain washed was a good thing when I was in as worldly people certainly could do with it .
once when jehovah turned him into a sperm and once when the romans crucified him.. technically sperm is still alive when used for invitro fertilization.
then again is sleeping in a tomb for a few hours really dead ?.

an elder with half a brain (and they must exist 🧐) is going to see the writing on the wall with the way the wt is manoeuvring them into taking the fall over csa cases.
can an elder in good standing step down with no consequences, official or social?.

Looking back , I find it hard to comprehend how i remained in the religion as long as I did ,being a convert at 20 years of age ,which was probably more than 30 years.?

i came across this footage recently whilst searching for something completely unrelated and it blew me away!.
it's from the august 1974 convention at murrayfield, edinburgh and you can clearly see the stage set up still keeping the 6000 years and 1975 mantra going.. what makes this very personal for me is that i was here.
Wasn`t it "Paradise Lost To Paradise Regained " book that taught the 7000 year creative day that led to 1975 as the likely date that would be fitting for Christ`s 1000 year reign to begin ?

I was at a convention in Melbourne Australia for that , possibly at the showgrounds , I can`t remember exactly now as I`m now 84 , and my memory is not as good as it once was.

so my mother passed on 20 aug 23 from the big c. i was there when she went.
that was indeed very traumatic.
i won't go to describe it.. dad went 17 years ago so there's just me now.

Anyhow I`m glad things are going AOK for you and as another poster said your positive outlook goes a long way in keeping sane ,however I do think all religion is just bunk with just another way in keeping the masses in check.
But that`s just me .
