Jehovah`s Witnesses / WTB&TS and anybody else can legally delay signing up to the National redress Scheme for survivors of Child Sexual abuse up until the 3o'th of June 2020

Why does it have to take close on another two years for them to make their mind up about joining the scheme.?

And you can bet your life JW`s will stop at nothing to extend that even further given half the chance.

Why does the Government give these institutions so much leeway before they have to comply ?

The more I learn about this process the more skeptical I become..

Its already been about 5 years since this Australian Royal Commission into Institutionalized Child Sexual Abuse was proposed by Julia Gillard of the Labour party. { correct me if I`m wrong }

It all seems like delaying tactics to me .

And Governments are just giving lip service to appease those who are demanding justice. And given time it will all be forgotten as other issues will take precedence .

i have been on a journey to leave and my plans are starting to come to their fulfillment.

i got the job i want back to move away from where i’m at and i have just a couple of hurdles to get past.

one of those was telling my best friend whom i’ve known since i was 13. he is still very active and indoctrinated and we had a long conversation where i told him i’m leaving the organization.

And you still haven`t ? After 10 years ?

What about your then wife ? You don`t mention her in your latest post is she still a JW ?

You mentioned that your brother was a doubter back then 10 years ago also ?

I think you need to explain yourself a little better my friend .

Back after 4 years!!

gosh i can't believe i would still be able to log in to this site after around 4 years.

i simply just forgot my password and got the lightbulb back in my head a few minutes ago.

not sure if anyone can still remember me (i was just one of those occasional passers-by a few years ago with some relatively depressing experience after waking up to ttatt).. in the last 4 years, i:.

I`m a little confused what does one who has woken up to TTATT say to a householder while representing themselves as one of Jehovah`s Witnesses ?

I Got Very Stange JW Doorknocker Yesterday

i had an ex-jw uncle of mine visiting me yesterday from another part of the country.

i usually only ever see him at weddings and funerals but we keep in touch on facebook.

we were catching up in my place with his wife when about an hour into the visit there's a knock on my door, this was about 4pm.. strange... the only people who ever knock without calling me first are the postman and my ex-wife.. i open the door and it's a face i recognize from my last congregation.

If I was you p.e. I would track down where he lives and do a cold call on his residence late in the morning or early afternoon when he would more likely be sober and sound him out as to why he called on you .

It could be very interesting to see what his response would be .

Do You Know Of Anyone Who Left JWs And Then Decided To Return?

quite a few years ago there was a poster here that left the religion because he knew it was simply not true.

however, he returned to jws because he wanted to be with his family.

i don’t know how he is doing but gumby was his name.

The sad thing about is many people leave the religion but the religion never leaves them .

And that is because :

1.They have never seriously questioned the beliefs of JW`s and researched their doctrinal teachings.

And its all about feelings and attitudes and don`t know or even care about doctrines its all emotional.

2.Their are many that go back knowing its not the truth however go back for sentimental family ties they have.

3.And a small portion go back in the belief they can somehow gradually wake up a family member or a close friend that they believe they can free.

Just my 2 cents.

Regional JW "Culture" - Did you experience any differences that surprised you?

so this particular comment on another topic got me thinking about "regional" jw cultures.

things that were acceptable in one area you lived in, that were absolutely verboten in the jw hall/circuit you perhaps grew up in etc.

never met jws that cared if people played chess, and i knew a number of people who did play chess.

We attended five congregations in Melbourne Aust. in the 1960`s and they were all very conservative and I mean very.

We moved to S.E.Qld in the 1970`s and the atmosphere was completely different much more relaxed and more open and liberal .

Get together`s , camping out and alcohol was no problem groups going out to restuarant`s they were very social events ,and meals at each others places were not uncommon.

I think it was the social interaction we had in the congregations that made everything else so bearable.

However if they were teaching wrong things in 1919 their is NO WAY Jesus would have accepted them as his faithful servants and appointed them over all his belongings because they would be no better than any other of Christendoms religions teaching falsehoods.

And if by any remote chance Jesus did accept them as the Faithful and discreet slave class in 1919 Jesus would be rejecting them now because they have now abandoned all the teachings they taught in 1919 .

In my book if the governments were in fact serious about this whole business they would prosecute all of those who knew of child sexual abuse and didn`t report it to the appropriate authorities whether it was mandatory or not .

Whether it be people in charge of Institutions ,Churches or charitable organizations.

To sexually abuse a child is a crime ,to know about this abuse and not report it is surely a crime because you are then aiding and abetting a criminal that is also a crime and allowing that person to commit other crimes against children.

And didn`t the opposition leader bill Shorten state that half of the States of Australia still haven`t signed up supporting the Redress Scheme ,that only half have done so in this point of time.?

Institutions ,Churches and charities may argue that if half of the States of Australia refuse to sign up on the Redress scheme then why should we.? Its either all or nothing.

Many people are skeptical of this whole affair. Are Governments just show poning ,seeming to do the right thing to appease the masses without actually doing very much about it.?

I hope not.

Edit to add: I did listen to Bill Shortens speech and I was impressed by what he said however he is the opposition leader and what opposition leaders say doesn`t always if ever come to fruition when their in power .

My bucket list letter to my sons, 41 years after leaving WT

Well I thought it was a good letter len and I hope they received it in the spirit it was intended

.With all that has been going on in Watchtower LaLa land these past few years, what with the mergers of Kh`s ,selling off properties all around the world cutting back on literature production ,laying off Bethel members ,all of the child sex abuse issues that are emerging world wide , the cult like adoration of the GB members and the JW.ORG logo etc,etc,

I find it increasingly hard to comprehend why many more people haven`t abandoned this poor excuse for a religion.

The sad fact is I suppose that humans throw reason right out of the window when they WANT TO BELIEVE something despite all of the evidence against doing so.

Good luck buddy and I hope you get some good feed back from your sons.
