  Wouldn`t Governmental inquire`s like the Australian Royal Commission into Institutionalised Child sexual Abuse and other similar Agency`s / inquiry`s around the world into the Jehovah`s Witness religion .

  Be very interested in the Watchtower tax returns that has been presented in this post ?

  Wouldn`t they be very interested in just how much money the JW religion / WTB&TS actually have in their coffers ?

  Not forgetting they are a "not for profit " organization .

  It's My Birthday Today

  today is my 34th birthday.

  or, my 3rd birthday that i've actually acknowledged seeing as i was raised in the cult.. i woke up this morning to my 4yo running into my room and wishing me a "happy birthday daddy!".

  i got a card from my ex-jw brother and i bought myself a birthday gift - a new 50mm lens for my nikon camera (photography is a hobby i took up since leaving the cult).. i dont know about you guys, but birthdays is still something i have to make a conscious effort to acknowledge and enjoy.

  i just watched the movie apostacy and thereby, visited an ancient feeling of mine.

  there were various moments where you could tell that the mother and even the “faithful” daughter were bottled up inside with many thoughts and feelings left unsaid.

  their basic, normal, human morality immediately tells them that the proper way to act is not that of the wt.

  "The sun will be darkened, & the moon will not give its light." How do events like this affect superstitious humans?

  the gospel of matthew's homily on the signs connected with the imagined return of christ, features an element of the sign that seems to really scare superstitious people.. matthew 24:29 reads: "immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;".

  in the nineteenth century such an even occurred twice in the 19th century and apparently became part of charlie russell's conviction that the end of the world was nigh, charlie, of course, was a 'man of faith' accepting the bible as true and not willing to search for alternative explanation for such events.

  if charlie r. had been the sort of person that continually asks why, his life and ours may have taken a different course.. i cannot quote where in his mass of writings he cites those 19th c events (its a long time since i've bothered to be interested in his writings), but mention them he did, and saw these events as proof of the imminent return of jesus christ.. so let's look at these two 19th c.natural occurrences, and compare them to another occurrence some 1400 years ago.. the 19th c events occurred in 1814-16 and again circa, 1883. the reason for the sun and moon being darkened was volcanic activity, easy for us to appreciate, but more difficult for religiously superstitious people.. the wikipedia encyclopedia notes the 1814-16 event: quote.

  Genesis talks about the two great luminaries one for the day and one for the night ,OK ?

  As far as the luminary for the day ( Sun) in most of the earth it does appear to rise in the morning and set in the evening of each and every day throughout the 365-6 days of the year.

  However in the Arctic regions both north and south that may not always be the case .

  The sun never rises or else the sun never sets. For a good period of time .

  In the case for the luminary of the night (moon) that`s not always the case .Because some nights the moon just fails to appear simply because its visible during the day time on the other side of the earth.

  So in actual fact their are many times during the year that the moon will not give its light and that has always been the case .

  today in rotten history we live in a slightly mad world .

  may 24 1997 wade thomas poyner, a prominent jehovah's witness in woodland, washington, is arrested for a lewd incident involving a preteen boy.

  while not charged with that crime, poyner was charged for a summer 1991 rape of a 6 year old boy, and is suspected in nine other incidents involving preteen boys.

  Should Voters Be Made To Prove They Are Eligible To Vote?

  i believe that just because someone shows up at the voting booth, it doesn’t automatically qualify them to be legitimate voters.

  i think it’s not unreasonable to provide proof that you are qualified..

  I know this point can be a controversial subject : here in Australia its compulsory to register & vote if your over the age of 18 .

  And i think that`s a fair system to have .But one where YOU have a say in how your country is run

  And not bemoan about the state of the country after an election when YOU didn`t bother to vote because its not compulsory

  I know people are going to say that takes away their personal freedoms etc,etc.

  With a system of compulsory voting if you really so strongly feel that way all you have to do is make your vote void of no account , mark it in such a way as it doesn`t count.

  Many JW`s did that myself included when I was a believer I went through the process fullfiling the obligations of registering etc,and when it came time to vote put down "Jehovah`s Kingdom By Christ Jesus and put a couple of scriptures to verify it .

  And was never ever questioned about it or fined for not voting.

  Now that i`m out of a brainwashed controlling religion that to a degree controlled what I thought and did .

  I find it a little bit hard to comprehend that once you have left that behind and that now YOU have control to some extent what happens in your community you don`t take advantage of the opportunity to do so ?

  This is the "wild beast that was but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss and it is to go off into destruction." Revelation 17:8

  Scotoma , This scripture was used by the JW / WT organization in their publications to explain the league of Nations forming after the first world war ,then going into the abyss at the outbreak of the second world war , and then ascending out of the abyss at the end of the second world war as the United Nations .

  It was never implied to relate to The USSR or the current Russia. of today.
