Do older faders fear better than younger faders
by joe134cd ini read and replied to a post today about weather there were any benefits in been a jw.
as much as i now dislike the religion, i had to agree that there was an up side, due to their strong stance on alcohol, gambling, smoking, and sexual practice.
we would all agree that these can be terrible vices that can get out of control.. i was at one point a true believer, who believed in these rules, and to a point have benefited from abstaining from these practices.

Do the reasons for leaving and the age at which an individual leaves affect the out come in their lives. ?
I think it probably does
.Older people who leave generally have a much better understanding of the scriptural reasoning`s for their once long held beliefs.
And the publications of long ago that seemed to give credence and validate these beliefs.
Not so for the younger generation today who do not have any publications that relate to this period in history that resonate with any Bible prophecy and so have no relevance to today .
And of course their is the Internet today for which I am most thankful for .
In the 1950`s -60`s we had "Your will be Done On Earth " and Babylon The Great God`s Kingdom Rules " which seemed to fit in with what was happening on the world stage at that time in history .
Their is nothing comparable with what is happening now in Watchtower-land or the world scene that is comparable to those days in the 60`s and 70`s .

Has Your JW Background Benefited You In Any Way?
by minimus ini would like to think there was some good that resulted from our being a witness at one time..

Becoming a J.W. put an end to my smoking which was a plus and while it didn`t put an end to my drinking habits I certainly learnt how to deal with it moderately. I consider those as a plus.
But had I joined any religion or cult as a disillusioned 19 year old as to where I was heading in my life back then it may well have had the same results .?
Who knows ?
All religions / Cults have these type of examples of changing peoples lives for the better .
It certainly does not mean they have a better "truth" than any other religion/ cult or philosophy .
And if they can all point to beneficial results from their members woudn`t that imply that God or a higher power was working through them ? That he had their blessing ?And that he is not partial but works good through all avenues ?

"This Good news Of The Kingdom Will Be Preached In All The Inhabited Earth" ........
by smiddy3 in..".for a witness to all the nations and then the end will come" .matt.24:14.. the religion of jehovah`s witnesses kid themselves into thinking they are filling or have fulfilled this prophecy/scripture .. given that you take the jehovah`s witnesses and the international bible students association as one and the same religion , then they have been preaching their message primarily within lands that are predominantly christian based.....and certainly do not cover "all the inhabited earth " as their are many populous non christian nations nations that do not allow, even forbid any proselytizing in their lands.
i would estimate about one third of the current world population.. but that is not all .. given that you take the jehovah`s witnesses and the international bible students association as one and the same religion ,then they have about 140 years of preaching their beliefs to the public specifically to preach "this good news of the kingdom " as they claim to do in obedience to j.c.commands at matt.24:14.. take a survey no matter where you live on this planet earth of the people in your locality and if you asked them "what was the message jehovah`s witnesses left you and no one would be able to say "they told me about and explained to me the good news of the kingdom" and what it would mean to me.. no one would be able to say that .after 140 years of preaching and witnessing by what is now 8 million plus jehovah`s witnesses .. what a waste of time and energy and lives .. after 140 years of preaching what do the public know about jehovah`s witnesses ?.
they don`t take blood transfusions .

..".for a witness to all the Nations and then the end will come" .Matt.24:14.
The religion of Jehovah`s Witnesses kid themselves into thinking they are filling or have fulfilled this prophecy/scripture .

No one would be able to say that .After 140 years of preaching and witnessing by what is now 8 million plus Jehovah`s witnesses .
what a waste of time and energy and lives .
After 140 years of preaching what do the public know about Jehovah`s Witnesses ?
They don`t take blood transfusions
they don`t vote
they don`t salute the flag
they don`t get into politics
Not once do they say "They preach the Good News Of Gods Kingdom " ....not once...not anywhere in the world do they say "they preach the good news of Gods Kingdom "
Jehovah`s Witnesses fail on all accounts even the "Watchtower " Announcing Jehovah`s Kingdom has never resonated with the public and the "Witnesses have failed to address the issue and the fact that they have put Jesus as a secondary figure in their publications hasn`t helped them .

And there are some elderly folks still at Bethel that are cared for at Warrick by my uber cousin and I wonder how that works and how they get to stay in the compound. These people are really old too but I guess they get to stay in and get cared for. Wonder how that is determined?
Maybe they have a property or an inheritance that the Borg hope to get their hands on
Just saying .

JWS, The GB and Conglomeration Of Various Beliefs
by HiddlesWife ini was watching this particular you tube video=> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quzdbzspsqu .
this above moved me to question: did russell (and maybe including, rutherford, gb1.0/2.0) research plus take bits and pieces from other religions/belief systems, preaching that events like these are leading mankind to "end of the world" and combine those together for the jw r&f to believe?
(i hope some of posters/members understand what i am asking.

Barbour and Miller with their religious ideas were two men that had a profound influence in formulating C.T.Russell`s own ideas about the religion he formed the "International Bible Student`s Association" and not the "Jehovah`s Witness" religion that J.F.Rutherford formed .
Joseph F.Rutherford poached the members of the I.B.S.A.away to form the J.W.religion, and isn`t that where most of the members of the J.W.religion come from ,that is being poached away from other existing christian religions ?
In their heyday/glory day`s of growth ,by far the majority of conversions to the J.W.religion came from Christendoms religions ,Roman Catholic ,Church of England ,and other protestant churches .
Very, very, very few conversions were ever made from non christian religions .
In fact Jehovah`s Witnesses to this day have made little to no impact in "witnessing" in Asian ,and Islamic countries that covers about a third of the worlds population .

It sucks too love boxing and being in a JW family
by Akid48 induring this new year i started to love boxing and i can only really do is shadowbox which is good training, but i really want to do more.
now you might be thinking ''why the heck would this kid take a likeing in boxing when he is in a jw family?
''well thats the point of this post it sucks that i cant do a sport that i like and i want to spend time doing because jw's dont let you do sports and dear god you wont be able to do something like boxing.. (i just made this because i just wanted to talk about this and some of you will understand if you wanted too do sports but you couldnt because you where a part of a jw family).

When I was 17/ 18 I took up Judo as a sport casually at first and then really got to enjoy it and no one in my family were J.W.`s
The trouble is I converted when I was 19 and the general consensus then was that it was not a good thing to pursue .It is one of the little things I regret to this day giving up something I liked and enjoyed trying to please other people and a religion who would throw me on the scrap heap if I didn`t tow the line.
Do what you want to do in your life but be prepared for the consequences.Of course it all depends upon how old you are .If you are a minor you still need to obey and be subject to your parents .
O.K i just looked back and your only 13/14 yrs.old ,I`m sorry but you might just have to bide your time until you are old enough to go your own way.
I hope others can give you better advice
Take care
