  Newspaper reports: Dutch government will initiate inquiry into child abuse within JW community

  today a dutch newspaper published an in-depth follow-up item on jw abuse issues.. the most interesting part of the article is this:.

  the politicians also let themselves be heard.

  a month ago the house of representatives voted unanimously in favor of a motion to enforce an independent inquiry into abuse within the jehovah's witnesses, as the organization refuses to initiate it.

  The real issue here as I see it ,is that while Jehovah`s Witnesses have in house investigations of child sexual abuse among its members, victims/perpetrators by a judicial committee consisting of three male Elders ,they feel they are under no obligation to report these allegations to either the child protection authorities or the police unless they are mandated to do so .?

  Don`t they have a moral/ethical responsibility to do so when its a minor involved ? Obviously not because they do not do so.

  Because its not mandated for them to do so should that excuse them from not reporting an alleged crime when they become aware of it especially when it involves a child ?

  For them to say that is the family`s right to do so is a cop out because they caution the family against such a course because it will bring reproach on Jehovah`s name.

  And in many cases where it is mandated that they report such abuse the Elders fail to do so .

  i hope you're not dealing with wildfires in your area.

  currently, california is under siege.

  we, in the sierra nevada foothills, had our major conflagration last october and needed to evacuate.

  Fires of that magnitude can be so fierce and deadly ,I don`t envy your situation CoCo .Take care and stay safe and if you have to evacuate at any time do not make the mistake of leaving it to the last minute as some unfortunates do.

  edit to add : My heart bleeds for the poor wildlife that get burnt and destroyed when fires rage through forests { apart from the human sufferings } Here in Australia their was a classic photo of a firefighter giving a Koala a drink out of a water bottle after it survived a bushfire .i wish I could show it .

  Daniel Kokotajlo’s Apostasy enters UK Top 15 box office films

  fantastic news just in: daniel kokotajlo’s film apostasy about a jw family facing the blood issue and - ahem - a daughter who apostatises - was released late last week in the united kingdom.

  even though it received limited release in its first weekend and is going to be in more cinemas this weekend, it has entered the top 15 films at no.

  12 - a magnificent result for a highly acclaimed film made on a shoe string.

  Contradictions!

  quite regularly at meetings jws mocked worldly people and apostates(anyone who had left the "truth") for saying the bible contradicts itself when it is in complete harmony from beginning to end apparently.

  can anyone point out some of the contradictions they know of?

  they used to laugh at the fact people on the doors would say the bible contradicts itself and when they asked the householder to show them where, they couldn't..

  Was Jesus fully Human? How babies were made in those days.

  i feel confident that most visitors to this site, understand the essential conflict at the heart of christianity.

  how could jesus be fully human and simultaneously be a divine being who descended (supposedly, some thing jesus specifically claimed to be) from heaven.. as jws we may have solved this tricky point by saying that yahweh transferred the life of jesus into mary's womb, and so jesus was born fully human.. but if we remove the blindfold of faith, we immediately 'see' the problem.

  in our contemporary view of the reproductive process, we can be certain that there is a female 'egg,' that is fertilised by male sperm.

  Mary was born in sin like every other human being according to the Bible their is nothing in the Bible to say otherwise .

  That being the case Jesus could not have been born perfect without sin , he must have inherited the sins of his mother regardless of who his father was.

  According to the Bible Jesus was much more than a human ,he could control the weather ,and he could walk on water ,and he could perform miracles ,.?

  No human including the perfect man Adam could do any of these feats so how is it possible that the Bible claims Jesus to be a corresponding ransom for mankind ?

  He was a sinner with super human powers that no man ever had according to what we read in the Bible.

  I thought this subject needed to be re-visited

  Is Jesus the Alpha + Omega?

  is jesus the alpha and omega?

  the watchtower make a bold brass article on their own website claiming that jesus is not the alpha and omega, yet however, god's word explains in clear detail that he is the alpha and omega... do we therefore trust what the watchtower says?

  or do we trust what god says?.

  Doesn`t Php.2: 9-10 state that

  "God exalted him to superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground"

  Taking that scripture on face value Christians should be worshiping Jesus Christ as most of Christendom do except Jehovah`s Witnesses who have no basis for worshiping Jehovah in the Christian Greek Scriptures ,the N.T.

  They pluck some scripture out of the Hebrew scriptures ,O.T. that relates to the Jews as being his witnesses Isa.43:10,12 .

  However the Jews never identified themselves as Jehovah`s Witnesses by name and neither did Jesus nor did Jesus ever chastise the Jews for not going by the name Jehovah`s Witnesses

  And Jesus himself never used the name Jehovah or its equivalent in the Greek Christian scriptures.

  Am I being unreasonable with my pimo boyfriend?

  i was very lucky to have be dating somebody who didn’t run and snitch on me when i started having questions and showing him research i did, instead he listened to me, and after a few arguements, he did wake up as well.

  it really didn’t take much to wake him up, and he was more just tired of the crazy witnesses in general.

  and now we are planning on getting married and fading together so that our families can at least enjoy our wedding, that special time in life, before we possibly loose them one day.

  I wonder how old you both are and whether you are more adult than he is so, not meaning to be Judgemental I would seriously not get too involved with this guy in the short term .

  In other words don`t be in too much of a hurry to marry him ,bide your time .

  Don`t make the mistake of marrying somebody just to get out of a situation your unhappy with you could be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire

  Think long and hard before you make any rash decisions .
