Would I be correct Venus in saying you do not believe the Bible as Christians view it as the word of God ?
or to put it another way
You do not believe in the God of the Christian/Hebrew Bible ?
If these assumptions above are correct what "God" do you believe in and can you elaborate for us ?
I`m just curious as to where you stand about your God.

However the fact is Simon that it is the same God of the Old Testament who is the God of the New Testament and as the Bible states that God does not change he is the same today as he was yesterday and will be the same again tomorrow .
Its not a case of whether Christians today would ever carry out those acts , the religion of Christianity has reformed but nowhere is their any indication that God has changed his mind or reformed ,he has never suggested he disagrees with his former attitudes or statements or actions .
According to Jesus he didn`t come to bring peace in the world he came to cause division.
To seperate family`s fathers against sons,mothers against daughters etc,etc.
And according to the book of Revelation God is still as bloodthirsty as he was in the Old Testament and Jesus is no better carrying out his will.
how bout ..... jehollywood or just jollywood.

i heard the crap, smurfs were magical evil creatures.
i saw in the 80s kids parents get talked to because of the kids having one or pjs with smurfs on them but other than the urban meme where did this come from?

I certainly remember that time period 70-80`s smurfs, backward masking,getting stuff from op-shops/second hand dealers, the Demons could get at you from all of this stuff .

The closest I ever got to bushfires was in a mopping up operation after fires had gone through East Gippsland in the mid 1970`s when I had a stint in the forestry Industry.
take as many books and magazines that you can from the carts and then the watchtower will have to spend money that they dont have to replace the books and magazines.
But the poor dubs buy them from Watchtower, surely?
Is that the situation nowady`s ? that the publishers buy the publications from the W.T.Org. they put on carts and they give them away free to whoever wants them ?

The Organization is not out of pocket financially ,the burden falls upon the publishers ?

but he does succeed in getting her to open up.
Sorry to put a dampner on his approach but I thought he gave these two mature aged ladies too much information that their is no way in the world could they take it all in .
As well as throwing in that God was identified by another name in the passages of the old Testament he quoted ?
I think it would have all gone well over their heads and they wouldn`t even remember a fraction of what he was on about let alone look anything up that he encouraged them to do.
Don`t get me wrong he did a marvellous job in his presentation it was just wasted on two old ladies counting time with no real Bible knowledge .

today a dutch newspaper published an in-depth follow-up item on jw abuse issues.. the most interesting part of the article is this:.
the politicians also let themselves be heard.
a month ago the house of representatives voted unanimously in favor of a motion to enforce an independent inquiry into abuse within the jehovah's witnesses, as the organization refuses to initiate it.
The real issue here as I see it ,is that while Jehovah`s Witnesses have in house investigations of child sexual abuse among its members, victims/perpetrators by a judicial committee consisting of three male Elders ,they feel they are under no obligation to report these allegations to either the child protection authorities or the police unless they are mandated to do so .?
Don`t they have a moral/ethical responsibility to do so when its a minor involved ? Obviously not because they do not do so.
Because its not mandated for them to do so should that excuse them from not reporting an alleged crime when they become aware of it especially when it involves a child ?
For them to say that is the family`s right to do so is a cop out because they caution the family against such a course because it will bring reproach on Jehovah`s name.
And in many cases where it is mandated that they report such abuse the Elders fail to do so .

currently, california is under siege.
we, in the sierra nevada foothills, had our major conflagration last october and needed to evacuate.
Fires of that magnitude can be so fierce and deadly ,I don`t envy your situation CoCo .Take care and stay safe and if you have to evacuate at any time do not make the mistake of leaving it to the last minute as some unfortunates do.
edit to add : My heart bleeds for the poor wildlife that get burnt and destroyed when fires rage through forests { apart from the human sufferings } Here in Australia their was a classic photo of a firefighter giving a Koala a drink out of a water bottle after it survived a bushfire .i wish I could show it .
