Hi Teri Mc, welcome to this site ,this was a very interesting thread how normal people treat each other and not dictated to by WT theology if you can call it that , rules .
I/we look forward to hearing more of your story should you be free to share .

Sign at gilead graduation
by Gorbatchov inyou know, i'm not such a conspiracy thinker.
but why do they display this sign / symbol at the background?
with some litle imagination it is a freemason sign.

I`m with you Gorby I do think it is someones idea of a subtle reference to the Freemasons for whatever reason I don`t know.

What are the JW flock up to-- despite the GB?
by Half banana inposter westiewilly quoted on another thread the biblical proverb “expectation lost is sickness to the heart”.
the kjv puts it well, “hope deferred makes the heart sick but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life”.. does this not encapsulate the emotional tone of the jw organization today; “heartsick”?.
those who saw the total failure of the watchtower promises of the twentieth century must be heartsick from the disappointment.

Those who saw the total failure of the Watchtower promises of the twentieth century must be heartsick from the disappointment. What I am exploring is how would we expect the faithful to respond to this fundamental problem? Their lives were geared to this hope, the rigid certainty of the Kingdom by the end of the last century was guaranteed by none other than the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society-- "the generation of 1914" was often quoted, it was undisputed, JWs thought it was a Bible certainty, it was their ticket to paradise. . .
I think this would sum up the feeling of all those getting on in years ,with long time service at Bethels that have been in effect given the arse and to now fend for yourselves with no help financial or otherwise from the G.B.
And now told in effect to put your trust in the Brothers and Sisters in the congregations that we assign you too ,that they will look after all your needs at their cost of course .
We of the G.B.? WT/JW organization don`t do that sort of thing ,we look after your spiritual needs and not your material necessities of life ,that`s what the Governments are for and the do-gooder false religious orders do with their many programs to help the poor and afflicted.
It would be interesting to know how many aged JW`s are currently in care facilities run by Christendoms Religious Institutions that care for the aged and rely on worldly Govt. pensions and the like .
I personally know a few. I bet it would run into the thousands worldwide.
Just saying.
It wouldn`t be Proverbs Ch.3: 18 ? would it ?

Xmas Cards some of us sent to each other couple of yrs ago.
by smiddy3 ini came across some xmas cards some of us sent to each other a couple of years ago and thought it would be nice to send a greeting back this year by pm .. i was able to do it for some but not all that sent me a card because they gave their real names and not their call sign on here.. and stupid me didn`t keep the card with the envelope it came in.. and i`m certainly not going to post your real names on here.. if your inclined to, or remember sending me a xmas card a couple of years ago and you haven`t already got a pm from me your welcome to pm me anytime and we can exchange greetings.. i felt it was a personal exchange between real friends i have made on this forum and i thank all of those who did send me a card and well wishes and opened up their lives to me.. and hopefully they got the same from me.. smiddy .

"This system will probably be over in about 5 years"
by john.prestor ini don't think i shared this story yet, it's strange and although i did a little detective work trying to figure out who said what and when i never found out much, big surprise, jehovah's witnesses love their secrets as we all know... but i thought other posters might find this interesting both in and of itself, because of what an elder told me one sunday back in 2011, and because of what it could imply as to high-ranking jehovah's witnesses prophesying the date of armageddon.
specific dates went out the window in 1975, although governing body helper ken flodin hinted at 2040 in a talk uploaded to jw.org a couple years back, and the governing body hinted at 2034 in a watchtower back in the 90s.
but it might be, just might, that more specific date-setting still goes on behind closed doors in certain circuits.... so after i went to "meetings" and talked to witnesses for a couple years at a rural congregation in the eastern united states an elder pulled me aside one service into the vestibule at the hall, in other words, into a private area where no one would overhear us.

"This old system of things can`t last any more than 5 years" I first heard that in the 1960`s and every few years from then on it was " no more than 5 years away"
So that is 59 years ago ,and their still saying that ?
The carrot on a stick in front of a Donkey illustration fits Jehovah`s Witnesses down to a tee.
