do any of you have a home based business?
how did you get started?
i was just on the radio talk show host, dr. laura website and she has a link their to home based businesses.
From what I have observed, I would say get into a business that sells information. You do not have to buy and stock inventory and ship it. I have watched people get in deep and ending up with all this inventory. Now for example, an e-book that is downloadable just puts the money in your account and you do very little once it is set up and running. The house we bought a few months ago was sold because the people had 3 mortgages on it trying to keep their business afloat. It went under anyhow and they lost the house also. A few people I know well have gone bankrupt trying to do their own business. There is a lot more to it than one thinks. And then there is the affect of the economy....

think about this one: the bible says one day satan, the father of all evils, will be destroyed and by extension all the sufferings of the spiritual creatures and physical creatures.
i know the jw's teach that jehovah is allowing evil in order to prove a moral point that he is the only one who can effectively rule this reality.
however, imagine a paradise on earth billions of years after the destruction of evil.
Jesus said we must love our enemies. since he is our example and Satan is his enemy, then he must love Satan and cannot destroy him.
The book has a new ending...

i remember that happening a few times.
one sunday morning my son went up to a young elder and said "hey, i thought you were giving the talk today in xxx xxxxx.
the look of horror on the elder's face!
I remember that happening a few times. One Sunday morning my son went up to a young elder and said "Hey, I thought you were giving the talk today in XXX XXXXX. The look of horror on the Elder's face! He had forgotten. He had to hurry home and get his notes and rush off to a hall in another town that was a bit of a drive.
On another occasion, an older brother showed up at our hall after we had given up and gone to the Watchtower Study. when he got up to give his talk afterward, he told how his car would not start that morning and he borrowed his neighbors. It was a big car that cruised pretty easy and he found himself being stopped by a cop. The cop asked him why he was in such a hurry and he told him that he was a minister and he had car trouble and was running late. The cop was sympathetic, but then as an after thought, he asked him what church. As soon as he said it was the JWs, the cop wrote him a ticket. He obviously disliked JWs. But of course it was put across as Satan's doing and the persercution thing and all. The guy was a horrible boring speaker. I think Satan was trying to do us a favor.

things that used to bother me within the organization.. for example, the time that the organization use to.
absorb, it seemed that i gave more than i received.
After I stopped going to meetings, I realized that the majority of what was in my closet was for meetings. Clothes I wore only for meetings. How much money I had spent for numerous shoes and clothes and jewelry that seldom gets used now. And all the suits for my husband. What a waste of money! He works at Home Depot. He does not need any of the suits and ties. I have no desire to dress up anymore. 30 years of it was enough.

at it again just as they did with iraq.. no doubt this report was preparation to have something to quote when trying to drum up support for a war.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5346524.stm.

I see many bumper stickers that say God Bless America. There should be one that says God Help America. This country is being run by some very evil people. Dick Cheney is right up there at the top. I worry for my grandchildren's future......

originally from michigan, but lived in southern california for the last fourteen months.
just this past week, my daughter and i moved into our new home in arizona--near phoenix.
I was in Arizona, in Avondale. Made my exit from the cult there. Now I am in Colorado. A lot more comfortable, weather wise.

i remember once, we were in the field service, and my companion was talking to the householder.
the householder said, "we don't go to church anymore", thinking this would deceive us....lol.
so, my jw friend told him, hey that's great !!!
I remember auxilary pioneering with a teenage JW and as she finished speaking to the householder, she stepped back and fell down the steps. Also when my son was a young teenager, we were at a house together and as he was talking, he reached to the side to lean on the railing, only there was not one and he fell into the bushes.
One house the young lady and I went to was an elderly lady being cared for by a caregiver and the caregiver answered the door and said "I can't talk to you now. I have my lady on the toilet!"
Memories from long, long ago.

how many houses have you sold?
what was your experience like?
did you have a realtor or not?
We have sold 5.
Years ago it was easier to sell by owner. Now there are so many laws, and also, people do their searching online and buyers prefer to work with a realtor so things are done properly. The experience depends on the realtor. We had a couple of real good ones and then we had a poor experience last time
Things that need to be fixed, should be fixed, but don't go over board. People will actually not consider your house just because they don't like the color of a room, even though they can obviously paint it. If the furnace is bad, no one will buy it. Same with the roof. Curb appeal is real important. When we were searching for our present house, there were houses on our list that we did not even get out of the car to look at because of the lack of curb appeal. If a house looks well cared for, it sells much easier.
Another reason to work with a realtor is that they prequalify the people who get to look at your house. Doing it by owner, you do not know anything about the prospective buyer or their motives.
When we were in Arizona, there was a real problem with theft at Open Houses. Be very careful about what you leave out where it could be stolen.
In Arizona the market was really hot and we had our first of five offers within 1/2 hour. None of the buyers even came to look at the house and in two days we had sold it for twice what we paid for it 4 years earlier. That is a once in a life time experience. The next house took three months to sell and we got just enough to cover what we paid for it and the real estate commission. We only had it one year. That was Texas. Here in Colorado it is a buyer's market and house sales have slowed way down.
So it depends on where you are, what shape your house is in, and how good your realtor is. Ask around for references
