  WHAT KIND OF PETS DO YOU HAVE?

  i have been researching the greyhound breed.

  does any one have a italian greyhound or greyhound?

  my application is in for a retired or rescue dog.

  Our next door neighbors have two greyhounds. At first they just had the one and she would howl while they were gone. They are used to being in a kennels with other dogs. After they got the second one we haven't heard a howl out of her. They are nice gentle dogs but as watch dogs they are worthless. I guess it depends on what you want out of the dog. They are both rescued dogs.

  We got a rescued Corgi/terrier and he is a wonderful dog. Gentle, great with the grandkids. He can scare people half to death at the door with his nasty viscious act, and it is only an act. Only twice did he mean it and it was a darn good thing I had a hold of him. He has no bad habits, other than hogging the bed at night.

  MillieBTW, did you know that greyhounds cannot sit down? They have a real little head and big hips that just do not sit. Hard to keep a collar on them too.

  Moved to arizona

  hey all....it's been a while since i posted...(many moons)....i have been very busy working out my move from oregon to arizona....well i have been here 3 months now and love it!!

  !...the wife and kids are here with me (i moved her away from all her jw family)...and we all are settleing in.

  the wife has hooked up with the local kingdom hall here but hey...one step at a time...:).

  We live in the west valley in Avondale. We want to move north of Phoenix a bit with a little more elavation, then it would be cooler. I very much like the low humidity for my mold allergy. We have been here 2 1/2 years and I haven't had a sinus/bronchial/pnuemonia/ear infection since we have been here. I averaged 4 per year in Wisconsin. The other allergies are really bad, though. This used to be all cotton fields out here and there still are a lot of fields. They put more chemicals on cotton than on any other crop. A little breeze and I am in trouble.

  The heat is worse the first year. One does adjust a bit. I do not miss the cold/snow/ice one bit.

  It is cheaper to live here but the wages are lower too. I plan to stay.

  Garage Sale Tips? Ideas? Suggestions?

  erm, i believe garage sales are also known as yard sales in the states?

  anyway, i'm planning on holding a garage sale in a month's time, as i will be moving and i want to get rid of my junk, as well as hopefully raise some few much-needed $$$.. those of you who have held them, what advice do you give?

  any tips on making it more profitable?

  If you are selling any clothing, be sure to put the size on the tag. If they have to dig around looking for the size, they are likey to just pass on it.

  Watch for shoplifters. We had that experience. Several people come in together and a couple create a disturbance while the others steal. Especially jeans. They know you are not experienced at watching for such goings on.

  If you have electric things, have an extension cord out there so they can plug things in to see if they work well.

  Have a sign that says "Not responsible for accidents" because there are those who come just to pull that one on you too.

  Have an area with a few toys that children can play with while the parents shop so the kids aren't into everything

  Then one day she met a man and fell in love.
  Then it became apparent that they would marry she thought to herself , "He is such a sweet and gentle man, he would never go for this carrying on."
  She made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans. Some months later her car broke down on the way home from work.
  Since she lived in the country she called her husband and told him that she would be late because she had to walk home. On her way, she passed a small
  diner and the odor of the baked beans was more than she could stand.
  Since she still had miles to walk, she figured that she would walk off any ill effects by the time she reached home.
  So, she stopped at the diner and before she knew it, she had consumed three large orders of baked beans.
  All the way home she putt-putted, and upon arriving home she felt reasonably sure she could control it.
  Her husband seemed excited to see her and exclaimed delightedly,"Darling , I have a surprise for dinner tonight."
  He then blindfolded her and led her to her chair at the table. She seated herself and just as he was about to remove the blindfold from his wife, the telephone rang.
  He made her promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned. He then went to answer the telephone. The baked beans she had consumed were still affecting her and the pressure was becoming almost unbearable ,
  so while her husband was out of the room she seized the opportunity,shifted her weight to one leg and let it go.
  
  It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. She took her napkin and fanned the air around her vigorously.
  Then, she shifted to the other cheek and ripped three more, which reminded her of cooked cabbage.
  Keeping her ears tuned to the conversation in the other room, she went on like this for another ten minutes.
  When the telephone farewells signaled the end of her freedom, she fanned the air a few more times with
  her napkin, placed it on her lap and folded her hands upon it, smiling contentedly to herself.
  She was the picture of innocence when her husband returned, apologizing for taking so long, he asked
  her if she peeked, and she assured him that she had not at this point, he removed the blindfold, and she was surprised!!
  There were twelve dinner guests seated around the table to wish her a "Happy Birthday"!!!

  HELP!!! Hubby turning home into 'Book Study'

  my husband, who's a ministerial servant, was approached by an elder and asked if he'd offer our home to become a 'book study' meeting place.. i'm a bit of a loner, and need lots of peace, quiet, privacy, and solitude; plus to boot you all know i'm living this sort of double life, you know, just doing the very minimum to remain a witness.. this is awful!!!!!!!!!!

  Many years ago we were asked to have the book study in our home. We had just moved into that house and soon found that there were strange things happening. If you sat in the room where the book study was held, you could clearly hear foot steps directly above. People would ask "Who is walking around upstairs?" We would reply "no one" If they were JW they would get a funny look on their face and never come back.

  Now my suggestion is, start a rumor that strange things like that go one in your house and there is not a JW who will come near your house. You know how JWs love to spread rumors.

  The elders asked my husband about a shepherding call and he said sure but he did not tell me. They showed up first thing in the morning and I was loading the dishwasher in my nightgown. I ripped into those elders and told them that they better ask BOTH of us next time. When next time came around and they asked, my husband told them no. They had no business asking your husband and not you when the imposition is on you.

  she made a mistake, however, when she accused george, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.

She commented to George and others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing. George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny, he said nothing.
  
  
  Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Sarah's house..........and left it there all night .

  Breeze:

  B6 works much better with some magnesium and C added. It is called co-enzyme. Also, selenium can make a really big difference with depression. I know this first hand.

  I would say this has been a year where I have learned more about myself and my life than in all my previous 55 years. Very enlightening. I have dealt with problems that plagued me for years and now they are history. I would say it was a very fine year and I expect more of the same with the next.
