I was actually just talking to my daughter about when there will be a special needs talk against siblings day. Anyway, I just want to say I don’t find it odd at all that so many JW’s take advantage of posting about siblings day. Celebrating is fun and it’s something witnesses don’t get to do very often unless it’s a “gathering” or some spiritual element attached like a convention. Like they literally have to pay for any fun they have there is always a price. I remember one time this sister threw a huge formal party for the kids and of coarse Elder killjoy and sister nosey had to give her a really hard time about it even though they were putting the whole thing together and paying for it themselves out of the kindness of their hearts. Well they have them such a hard time they never did that again.

National Siblings Day
by neat blue dog inas has been mentioned, jws on social media seem to go overboard for the whole sibling day bandwagon, like they're so thrilled to participate in a holiday of sorts that hasn't yet been explicitly forbid that it's pathetic.
so, it's okay to honor your brother and sister on a certain day, but it's wrong and pagan to honor your father and mother on a certain day, something that the bible specifically says to do?
has anybody ever called them out on this, or seen someone else do it?

so we're sat in a cafe with my old friend of over 40 years, together with his wife.

So what is the new light on the matter 2018. Is it a disfellowshipping offense or not?

Suicide; and Jehovahs Witnesses
by zeb inas one who has been personally affected by suicide i read just now of a posting here today the tragic note being "my bridesmaid hanged herself" which we gather she had been shunned... well over the past many months we have seen a library of information, which continues to grow, on the sex abuse saga and most recently the revelations with a myriad of escape clauses a new 'policy' pulled like teeth from the wt on that matter.
this piece of prose is made available to any jw who requests it so the wt says.
it is well revealed out of the carc that the % of abuse in the wt world is higher than outside it.. this brings me to the matter of suicide.. .

@Tenacious,
My son suffered from sexual abuse at the hands of a jw “brother” and is in and out of the hospital for suicide attempts as well as drug and alcohol addictions. The man is still a witness and minesterial servant. He moved away before the truth about him came out so they supposedly did an “investigation” yet never even spoke to my son who was dissed at the time. The disgust and hate practically seeps from my pores.

The JW funeral sales pitch . . .
by BereanThinker7 inso recently i attended a jw funeral.
i've been awake and faded for a bit now and so i already have realized the strangeness that is a jw funeral/memorial talk because its basically just a sales pitch to those attending that are non jws using a twist on the christian resurrection hope and barely speaks about the departed.
here's the thing that i noticed the that got me wondering, the pitch, at least at this talk, is given under the guise that it is what the fallen person wanted to be spoken at the funeral and as such its all about the "secondary" "great crowds" class hope.. so my question is had anybody ever attended the funeral talk for someone who claimed to be in the 144,000???.

I’ve felt the same way in regards to the funerals. It’s more about the hope of resurrection and the paradise hope then about the deceased. That never felt right to me. I honestly thought they should be more personalized. However, now that you brought up and interesting question, I am completely curious as to how that funeral talk would be given. 🤔
