I'm guessing the JW's hold Shem Tov in esteem? Possibly for use of the divine name or something?

Aunt Jemima and Mrs.Buttersworth Need To Be Destroyed!
by minimus inwe have to get rid of these racist relics.
i propose that we destroy all these bottles of syrups and burn every pancake box !
we need to get rid of anything that reminds us of anything negative concerning slavery.. in boston they decapitated the head of christopher columbus and got rid of his statue.

Honest question:
What ethnicity is Mrs Butterworth supposed to be?
Antique bottles that I've seen looked like a middle-aged Swiss or possibly German woman.
Even after they started using the brown glass, the character was still clearly European:

Rolf Furuli New Book
by dozy infor those who haven't come across furuli before , he is a 77 year old norwegian professor and is ( or was ) one of the few "scholarly" jws used by the society and used as a source on various matters ( especially 607 bce ).. however recently he has fallen out with the gb and has published an interesting book - like many recent scholarly apologists , he seems to be going down the road of disagreeing with the authority of the gb but still holding that the jws is the one true religion.
kind of "lions led by donkeys".
whether this view will continue is anyones guess.

I see the old boy is still pushing the untenable position that there are, "...no legitimate uses of blood" despite the fact that it's incompatible with JW policy, which distinguishes various uses of blood based on whether it has, "..left the body" or not. -

Why Don't Conservatives Take the Lead in Technology?
by RubaDub inwhy is there constant criticism about "liberals" driving new technology?
web sites, social platforms, etc.
if the us is relatively evenly divided, why do all "new" things seem to come from the liberal side?

Yes really,
Thanks to Joseph McCarthy this has been an area of inquiry in the U.S. since the early 1940's, with numerous books on the subject from both political points of view.

I was thinking... for all these people who want to remove every past mistake or simple history, right or wrong, it’s no different than what the Watchtower has done by simply removing past comments in their literature or removing the literature itself so that evidence never existed to support their wrongness.
I would guess there is a difference between people who want the past erased and people who are uncomfortable with things that hearken back to it.
For example:
"The one to blame for the war"
If they were to take this character in a more respectable, less caricatured form and use him as an emblem/mascot for an investment house or financial advisor today, I'd probably be a little uncomfortable too.
I understand this makes no logical sense, but then human emotions and gut reactions aren't logical.

Not so sure. She was consistently pictured as a maid/cook in a white household:
Sometimes it came across as a Southern plantation:

--Not sure why the pictures disappeared above
Here's an example of the broken English of earlier Aunt Jemima's:
And here's an example of the racial caricaturing of even earlier ones:

Einstein is mostly known for his theory of relativity. He was also a pacifist, peace activist and socialist.
Academicians of all types tend to be liberal. Perhaps because the environment they live in insulates them from the day to day reality and things expected of the average working man.
To plagiarize a line from a movie: "In the private sector, they want results."

There's nothing even remotely offensive about Aunt Jemima in her current form. Racism by its very nature is derogatory and there's nothing racist about a compliment to your cooking.
The problem, I think, is the history of the brand. You don't have to go back very far to arrive at this:
Happy days is here! ---Not too bright, but boy can she cook....
Or even farther to find crude caricatures of people of color:
Again, we're dealing with human emotions and perceptions here that don't necessarily make any logical sense.
