Emotional distress is more than being upset.
A drunk driver who runs your child over right in front of your eyes is liable criminally for his/her actions, but they are also liable for the emotional distress they have caused. This is real, quantifiable damage that can be measured by medical professionals.

They're all pretty mundane compared to the wild conspiracy theories those who believe YouTube is a credible source seem to accept.
The last one left in my state is the claim that ballots filled out with a felt tip pin could not be read by the machine, which is probably going to be laughed out of court too.
There are two worlds in collision here. There is the world of social media where people reinforce each other's beliefs, right or wrong.
