  Any Old-Timers Remember this Kingdom Melody?

  we used to sing a slow song in the late 60's and early 70's that went something like : "don't be afraid of them that can kill the body buy cannot kill the soul" .... or something like that.does anyone remember that one?.

  Oh yeah it's still sung...theres a comment I remember a sister making about that line recently even...The thinking is "soul" (lifeforce) since it will be resurrected - your life force being in Jehovah's memory it's only him that can OFFICIALLY destroy it...not man. I think. lol

  so she starts in with the world is getting bad and will end soon.

  what started it was we were talking about the economy and such.

  Rocketman - over the past few years I've had that thought a lot- That really there are things wrong with the world today, but it's much better than a few hundred years ago. We have modern medicine, we have air conditioning and heating, we aren't dying of throwing our feces in the streets...

  My husband says those same things to me almost every day, we see something...anything... on the news..."See, the world is just going to collapse soon...it can't carry on much longer...It can't sustain itself..."

  One of the things he really goes on and on about is how corrupt the Catholic church is with all of it's pedofiles, and how he thinks that will be the end of Religion once it's exposed...He doesn't have a hint of the irony...or the pot calling the kettle black...

  He was raised JW though...so it's possible he's done some research and then blocked it all out because he can't accept it...hard to know, and there's no way I can ask.

  Cathleen - It's still watchtowers on Sundays, but the public magazines are the ones cut back. 2 meetings per week - they combined book study into the same meeting as ministry school.

  What would happen if the Watchtower decided no more meeting at Kingdom Halls, only Zoom?

  i’m seeing my hard core believing relatives slowly losing faith that the watchtower is the organization that “god” is using to represent him on earth.. just about all the churches in their area have opened up.. but not the watchtower.. this is having an affect on the faith of even the old timers.

  now the only ones who are still holding the faith are the female jws and only those past 70 years of age.

  even my old male jw relative past 70 are starting to say that it can’t be jehovah’s organization because the other churches are all open and god supposed organization who is supposed to preach the warning message is still closed with no open in sight.

  PistolPete - a couple months ago this thought was keeping me awake at night. The inevitable future of being elderly, but with no children or family that cared. That they'd be DF-ed or I'd be DF-ed or that they would drift away and never talk to me again. That I'm not allowed to contribute to a 401k because if I do I'm not relying in Jehovah...

  All My husband could tell me is that I have to stay close to the congregation because they will take care of me.

  Last week a 80 y/o single sister in our hall was disfellowshipped...she's on oxygen, and most of her care and support comes from the congregation...I can't imagine what on earth could be the reason for it either. Maybe blood for a medical procedure? idk...

  The Evidence of Human Evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger

  despite the wt's and young earth creationists' teachings against human evolution (namely macroevolution from non-humans) being a reality, the evidence of human evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger.. consider for example two science news articles and one other science article, each pertaining to the fossil that is nicknamed "little foot".

  below are links to three science articles, listed in order of the articles from oldest to newest (except i don't see a date for one of the articles).

  Yeah...sadly my husband has been the one sitting and judging if people are being appropriate in their little window boxes. It's probably only 30% of people that are actually on camera...

  Funny story though, a few months back...a MS in 70's or so revealed to everyone that he was only dressing for the meetings from the waist up...saw his red plaid boxers...haven't taken him seriously since.

  I was having this thought last night during our meeting. Our Local Needs talk was about being thankful that we have the Zoom meetings...which to me was them saying "Nope, we're still not going back to Kingdom Halls"...

  It's obvious that older ones will be VERY HESITANT to go back in person, how will that effect everything?

  And then I thought, well what if they end up just keeping it this way...and sold off Kingdom Halls? Wouldn't that be something...

  Along these lines...

  This past weekend we (the family) watched the first day of the convention, which includes an interesting dramatic Bible reading on Noah...

  While listening to this, and viewing pictures of the animals perfectly lined up and marching into the ark...all I could think is, there's no flippin way that a man and a few members of his family could coral all of these wild animals like this. Last weekend we visited a nature reserve that had cheetahs...they were kept behind barbed wire fences and common sense tells you that if you got too close to these creatures it would eat your face off...You mean to tell me that Noah just said "Hey come on you guys, queue on up" to LIONS, GIRAFFES, HIPPOS, EAGLES, ALLIGATORS?? maybe with some bait...MAYBE!!

  So, as I'm thinking these thoughts in my head. I'm sitting next to my husband, who says out loud "Isn't it amazing that these animals just KNEW what to do. Their instinct kicked in and, I bet Noah didn't have to do anything"...Like the animals suddenly had some divine inspiration to get on the ark??? This blew my mind because...from what I know at least, JW doctrine teaches sort of the opposite right? Only man was made with the desire to know and worship Jehovah...not animals? right? anyway...that was bizarre...

  Another thing my husband tries to teach myself and the kids as absolute truth is that animals eat each other and are only violent and vicious because humans started eating them...As in when man asked Jehovah if they can eat meat, and he set forth the way to do it and whats clean and unclean etc. So before that no human ever ate meat, and that only then did animals start imitating humans and become vicious...So that's why in paradise when we stop eating them it will tame them...and its our fault in the first place...

  Third, and I think my last thing that he believes and teaches us all is that Carbon Dating is flawed because of the flood. Since the "mist" surrounding the earth was blocking or filtering the Sun, the way that it aged things is off, and after the flood when the mist rained down and was gone, the SUN and it's UV rays or whatever, like roasted all the fossils so everything seems much older than it actually is.....
