They are really in a pickle. How can they acknowledge this without tipping their hand? Well if anyone can spin it, the boys in writing can. The only problem is that more people at HQ will have to be privy to the reality of the situation in order in cover it up.

In honor of jonjon....
by Tatiana ini don't know about anyone else, but i would really love a day in honor of jon, with no bickering, insults, or name-calling on the board.
just love for each other.
or the imaginary "brother/sisterhood" of joelbear.

Okay fine. But Im not going to have any fun. Just kidding. I only talked to Jon once in chat and though he was very upset with his own situation he still was concerned with how I was doing as well as others in the chat. He spoke to others with love and kindness. I think in some cases first impressions are correct and I am sure that mine was.

What would it take?
by cynicus inin view of the jw reactions on items such as the ngo thing, harbouring child molesters, it made me wonder about what it would take for the average jw to really grasp that the gb, the org and lots of its doctrine is not what it claims to be.. personally i've experienced that after a longwinded argument with an elder about the validity of the 1914 doctrine, he eventually agreed that it wasn't as solid as he thought and that it could be incorrect.
did he see the light (or its absence)?
interestingly enough, he immediately added that even if all this were true/untrue, it would not invalidate his loyalty to the org & gb.

I have posted before on this subject since I have the perspective of being an XJW as well as living behind the "zion curtain" in Utah. It is the same thing with Mormons and JW's. By presenting information contrary to their belief you are shaking the foundation that supports their whole world.
Were they to accept the information as indisputable, it would dash all the dreams they have ever had, reder their family apart, and take away whatever hope they have held for the future.
Our minds have defense mechanisms built in to protect from allowing such pain.
The answer is that for some, nothing will change their mind. But there are those who are wondering about things. They are comparing, and considering the possibilities. These questions will echo in the back of their minds and the doubts will add up. One day the scale will tilt toward the side of truth though it may take years.

I dont have a scanner so I couldnt post it. It is a picture of a human sacrifice. There on the altar is some poor sod with a huge bloody gash in his chest, blood running everywhere, and the elated priest holding up a f*cking heart while the blood drips down his arm.
Did they actually study this book at bookstudy, with children? -

Horror of horrors.....
by Tatiana ini know that while being a witness, we were not really allowed to watch horror movies, or anything that smacked of demonism.
anything supernatural.
my question is, what movie or movies, since leaving the society, has really scared or upset you?

My final straw was going to a CC when I was struggling in my late teens. The other kids my age were either insincere fakers or too holy, mostly the former. I dont know if I have ever felt more alone in my life at that moment and there I was at the place I should have been so encouraged, but I wasnt. I walked out of that place in the middle of the day, left my family there without saying a word. I had my own car and I drove myself that day. It felt so good to just get the hell out of there. Though there was that deep down guilt feeling, I realized that I did not belong in the organization any longer.

Ridiculous trips to the 'back room'
by Esmeralda inthe posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.
here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.
though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.

Michael 3k you know that god does not approve of thin ties. The fatter the tie, the more holy spirit you are going to get. You see the tie is like a "Holy Spirit antenna" so by skimping on the tie you cut yourself off from gods force and that is why you and I are here now. Why do think we had to wear ties to worship God in the first place? And why do you think the older ones in the KH wore those HUGE 6 inch wide ties? It wasnt just that they were really stylish.
