  Hello, DJ.

  I agree that following Christ should bring refreshment, not a feeling of being burdened down. That's what the scribes and Pharisees did to people. I think we (Witnesses) have gone down a wrong road, with no one to bring us back but our individual selves. The leadership is only interested in the rigidity of tradition, not the refreshment and light load of Christ.

  For any Witness who wants to be a Christian as outlined in the Bible there are tough days ahead. Those who should be moving us forward are holding us back.

  Thanx for the encouragement. No one likes to think of wasting 50 years on unfulfilled promises that never really were "right around the corner." I once thought that the older I got, the more certain I would get. Instead, the years have brought uncertainty.

  But faith in God and Christ endures.

  The October 8th magazines are already in the congregations and nobody knows anything about a nationwide campaign to give them away free.

  Didn't listen to Dad who said,

  "Son, Jehovah's OK

  But watch out for those Witnesses."

  Just Once and for All before life moves along

  I'd like to know -- are they right or are they wrong?

  Similar religions to JW

  ok everyone....i have noticed that there are a few other religions out there similar to the jw's.....for example...i have a friend who has a sister that who belongs to a non-denominational christian church.....she feels that her church is the "only way" to god...and also too it seems as though she looks down on anyone who does not go to her church....they have weekly bible studies on monday or tuesday nights...they even have a "field service" in which they go out to neighbors trying to get them to come to that particular church....does anyone else out there know about the other ones similar to the jw?

  Those are all points similar to Christianity itself. It was Jesus who said "I am the way and the truth and the life no man comes to the Father except through me." (Exclusive claim to truth)

  It was Paul who said "Remove the wicked man from among yourselves." (Disfellowshipping)

  The early Christians preached "from house to house." ( Community Ministry)

  Those who left were termed apostates and shunned. ("Do not share a meal with such a man or say a greeting to him.")

  They were always looking for Jesus to come back soon. ("Little children, it is the last hour...Antichrist is already here." In Revelation Jesus says "I am coming quickly.")

  Greg is only doing what the Society claims it wants us to do: Read and follow what the Bible says. It is not his fault that the Society's own beyond-the-Bible practices are revealed.

  Pastor Russell did a good thing when he wanted to get "back to the Bible" and away from the encrusted creeds of Christendom. But the later organization did not go far enough in getting back to the Bible. Throwing away the traditions of the churches, they built up traditions of their own, based on the teachings and speculations of mere men. That is what is causing the headaches and the problems.

  So far I have not had anyone tell me "why are you preaching to us, you have enough problems in your own religion!" But when it happens, I note that the Reasoning book does not have an answer to that objection. I don't either.

  Why is it continually overlooked that Bethany had the blood transfusions. The blood transfusions did not work. The blood transfusions did not work. The blood transfusions did not work.

  And why does the father continually blame others for what he taught his daughter to believe?

  People die every day. Let people die for what they believe in.

  Another question none can seem to answer for me!

  i'm just full of questions and here's another that no one in the hall has ever answered with conviction.. they say that the church steeple is shaped like a phalic symbol (please excuse spelling mistake, mislaid my dictionary!)..

  so why then was the temple shaped in a remarkably similar fashion (the picture in the back of the big bible always worried me).

  maybe, just maybe, the church is shaped after the original temple and not .... what they say it is.

  The Glory Days Are Over

  there is no doubt in my mind that the glory days of jehovah's witnesses are over.

  from my knowledge and experience with wt history, i would define the glory days as the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's.

  with knorr's great expansionary vision and discipline, dubs in the 1950's became a "somebody" in the 1950's.

  A problem I see is that nobody can stand up and say, "This isn't working, let's do something else," or "there is no Bible for this, it's just speculation and policy. Let's end it and get back to the Bible."

  That is, they can't say it without being shot down.

  Just as I figured all along: some of the best articles in the magazines were written by women!

  What a shame that the only solution the organization has for dealing with bright and conscientious minds is to get rid of them.
