This thread is for proof that God exists
by juandefiero inhowever, i haven't found any evidence to support that belief.. have you?
if so please, show me the evidence that god exists, and i will believe along with you.. criteria:.
(1) you must specify which god you are talking about;.

The majority of U.S. scientists either belive in a diety or in a higher power.
http://www.pewforum.org/2009/11/05/scientists-and-belief/
Some people don't change their way of thinking when they leave JWs, they just jump ship to another belief, which they then use to hold over the heads of others. Very sad.
To the lurker, may I suggest the book "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist". Of course, make sure you compare each side of the argument.

Do you still believe in God?
by FormerlySandL ini never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

If I were you, I would read books on both side of the spectrum of belief. Get both sides of the opinion,
The book 'I don't have enough faith to be an atheist' was amazing.
Then pick up a well known atheist book, maybe something from a well known atheist.
Trust me, a forum won't get you anywhere. You have to set aside emotion for this topic.

Question about visiting bethel ... akward moment at the end
by nevaagain insince there a couple of ex-bethelites here, and a lot of people from the greater ny area who have probably visited the bethel in brooklyn and patterson many times, maybe they can shed some light into this curious question we (my wife and me) have for awhile.. so a couple of years ago, we happaned to be in the states and also went to visit the bethels in brooklyn and patterson.
we had the full package, what i mean is, not only we took the tour, but we also had someone to invite us for lunch.
while we wanted to enjoy our stay there, there was always a weird feeling being there.

I have to chime in here. I grew up pretty poor. We had the necessities and not much else.
When I was in the organization as an adult, I WAS paying for my brother in law's bethel experience by the WT contributions I made and by paying state and federal taxes so that if he ever needed unemployment or disability, it would be there. Yah, we got sent books and did the bethel meal & tour, but no way did I slip him cash. If he came to visit, i would treat him to a meal once or twice. He is his own man. Remember, he decided to go to bethel. Giving them money is just helping the WT in the end.

Walking a thin line - Resigning Elder
by Sanchy inwarning of a long boring post ahead.
i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.
i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.

Wow, I am having flashbacks reading your experience. Sounds a lot like my experience (I just wasn't an Elder).
Your wife sounds like she will wake up eventually, judging by her initial response. She sounds mentally stable and you are definitely lucky for that. My wife responded much like yours did. Tread lightly though. Remember that she is a victim of mind control.
If you are still a believer in Christ, may I recommend remembering 1 John 4:18? And, C.T. Russell's Divine Plan of the Ages is great in helping a JW veer a little more toward reasonable Christianity.
If I may suggest, destroy your "blood card". That is one doctrine that is complete junk. You don't want you, your kids, or your wife dying over this cult.
Also, DON'T donate any more money.
PM me anytime if you wanna talk more here, over the phone, or over Skype.
BTW, I will be in Orlando is February!

@KateWild:
I was completely faded for 1.5 years but I felt that I was not making a stand for truth. Reminds me of the old saying that goes something like "Evil flourishes when good men do nothing".
