thanks. will do.
evolution paints human ancestors covered with fur.
fur has several benefits as stated by britannica "the pelts of fur-bearing animals are called true furs when they consist of two elements: a dense undercoat, called ground hair, and longer hairs, extending beyond that layer, called guard hair.
the principal function of ground hair is to maintain the animal’s body temperature; that of guard hair is to protect the underlying fur and skin and to shed rain or snow.".

Yes, I understood what you mean't. We are either having a communication problem, or you are not being forthcoming. I'll ask again: How can the strongest, most agile, best adapted snake reproduce with the female if there are hundreds of other snakes all in a ridiculously complex wrestling match? There are too many variables.

@island man:
Thanks. So, natural selection is actually not working for the snakes?

@cofty:
I correct my statement. It is up to hundreds of male snakes trying to compete to reproduce with the female.
However, my question is still unanswered. How is the force of 'natural selection', being that the most dominant/fittest/etc. male gets to reproduce with the desired female, at work in this case?
There are too many variables at work to ensure the fittest male gets to reproduce with the female snake.

Because, with 2 males, it is quite apparent who will win the fight...the fittest. However, throw 10,000 male snakes in the competition, and I don't see how this is a true test of the "fittest'.
Could you imagine 10,000 human males going after a ovulating female, and then saying the winner was the 'fittest'. Ridiculous! There would be far too many variables to make that kind of judgement.
So, in the case of the snakes, I am wondering how proper 'natural selection' is for weeding out anything but the 'fittest', when this particular case makes little sense.

I hate to get a bit off topic, but this is one of the reasons I have a hard time accepting speciation driven by 'natural selection'
This female snake sheds and the scent attracts around 10,000 male snakes. How in the hell is the 'fittest' going to get a fair chance at reproducing with her. His chances are based upon mostly blind chance.
gonna be seeing a friend there in november.

Gonna be seeing a friend there in November.
:)
hey all, .
so i recently posted for the first time and introduced myself.. i have been spending time reading various posts.
some informative, some not so much.. since i've been reading on here, i've read a lot from atheists.
Hi,
You can save yourself a lot of heartache & time by fully realizing that Jesus is the "truth, the way, the life" (I'm not saying you don't). As Christians, Paul exhorts us to gather together, but this is not necessary for salvation. Some Christians are isolated from other believers, but they still have a strong relationship with God.
The book "escaping codependent christianity" is amazing, and cant be found on amazon, used, for about $4 (shipping included).
The JWs completely hijacked our faith, so it will take time to heal. Just don't get into another cult/cult-like group!
Much love!
P.S. - I wouldn't debate atheists on here much. Any proof you send their way will be ignored. I mean, they do have some major confirmation bias going on.
and it is still ongoing ?.
obviously sparked off by the 2 afro american citizens gunned down by police officers these past few days.?.
when is this sort of violence going to end ?.
Simon:
You ignored my questions, only pointing back to "popular opinion". Sorry, but just because you say the facts are " beyond dispute", doesn't make your argument correct.
Care to answer any of my questions?
Here's another: Should a woman be able to buy a semi automatic pistol to protect herself from her ex husband who she recently divorced and has threatened her with murder? Why or why not?

I would love to hear Simon (all due respect, bro) explain how restricting guns from law abiding citizens will keep extremists from killing with guns.
1) the extremists can buy guns illegally off the street.
2) they can use pipe bombs, maltov cocktails, pressure cookers, etc.
If you take away the AR15 from law abiding citizens, you might as well take away all semi automatic pistols as well, since using them is a place like a nightclub will be almost just as deadly.
And what about shotguns? Most shotguns fit 6 rounds and you can them buy a side sleeve for easy reloading of six more rounds. Should we ban them as well? Sorry dove hunters (big here in Texas)! You can't dove hunt anymore!
To ensure that no one (except law enforcement & military) has semi automatic rifles, the government would have to order a seizure of all existing semi auto rifles & ammo. Will people comply? Will the criminals comply? Even if you got all the rifles out of the US, you would then need stronger border defense...to keep the ones from border countries out!
Can we please use some logic here and not just fear based rhetoric?
