Goodbye, and Thanks For All the Fish......
by Prisca indear all,.
it is with much regret that i have decided to leave jw.com.
it is not a decision i have made lightly, in fact i had been thinking about it for many weeks now.. i am leaving because i cannot be a part of a forum that condones abuse and deliberate offensiveness towards other posters.

Bonham, Texas
by TweetieBird inin another thread, someone stated: .
"also, a few years ago the wtbts was burned badly, albeit on a small scale, with the bonham, texas congregation declaring independence and siezing their own kingdom hall in the process.
since then, the wtbts has taken the appropriate legal steps to make sure that if any congregation splits, the assets will still belong to those faithful to the wtbts.

Hey, Pork Chop. You said that, you "can't say for sure but I've talked to people that knew Deal personally and they said he was the worst Pharisee you ever laid eyes on."
Question: were those people Witnesses?

Double Standards - Where is the line drawn?
by msil ini was happy when the yadrif was given the boot - we never needed the spread of hatred and name calling.
it seemed as though everyone felt the same way.. i find it hypocritical that as long as you are "influential in the xjw community" or if you run a big anti-jw website you can call anyone names and you can post any obscene drivel as long as it is a song which you dedicate other posters.. i find it ironic that a "well-respected" poster (and i could give a damn what his past actions or brave deeds are, or what fancy essays he wrote) would call me a biggot in chat for asking simple questions but then he would defend the stuff kent wrote in reference to aguest.
i don't give a damn if it was written by frank zappa or some other crack-smokin' loser - the fact that they are song lyrics is irrelevant.

Self control means not continuing to read threads one finds offensive.
Self control means clicking off to another thread, not censoring anybody else.
It's really tough if some posts don't meet somebodys standards.
Self control means not whingeing and complaining if a poster doesn't 'do it your way'. How catastrophic.
Self control is understanding that the world just ain't gonna turn the way YOU want it too at times. How awful! How terrible!
Self control is using your personal power to make choices.Click on Click off-Remember telling me to give it a rest? To move on? To leave a certain thread and find something else to talk about? One day soon, I'm going to remind you of these words of yours and simply tell you to click off... of course then, you'll come up with something equally 'profound.'
I think it is quite obvious to all just how different they are.
You are right. It is.

p.s. Sorry if you think i'm being 'divisive,' Jerome, but jelly is right.

Prisca,
I think you know my thoughts on this sad little post of yours, but I'm going to say it anyway...
I think your leaving is a huge mistake.
And a cop out.
And, basically, I think you're a wimp.
And I understand.
Completely.
At least one other champion has quit posting here recently, having had enough of the b.s., and the place is clearly worse as a result, imo. Now you.
One thing I've found is that at this point in our lives those of us who post here generally now have only one thing in common with other posters: our former association with the Society. Other than that, there is generally little harmony, courtesy, respect for divergent opinions, a quest for a broader understanding of people unlike us.
Some of the people here were jerks as dubs and continue to be jerks, steadfastly refusing to learn the basic lessons of life -- disrespectful, intolerant, mean-spirited people without an ounce of care or concern for the feelings and well-being of anyone but themselves. Well... I guess I'm preaching to the choir, eh?
Anyway, stay in touch, Sis. You know *I* will.
peace and all good things,
todd ~ already missing his friend Prisca_____________________________________________________

More Bethelite Table Crumbs Please!
by MadApostate inin a controversial post in a separate thread, janh makes an extremely good observation that a certain former gb member will likely carry many, many wts "top secrets" to his grave, for whatever reasons he does not wish to divulge such.. then, on this db, former bethelites constantly exchange posts where their word choice is "cloaked" so that many of us who were not insiders are left guessing at meaning, people, etc.
obviously, even individual members of this fraternity have unique experiences and insights.
if such info is not disseminated, it is lost if that person dies naturally or in an accident.. would you folks please post more elaborately so that the rest of us can benefit from your knowledge and experience.. the statement that motivated this post made a silent reference to the author of the happiness book.

Jerome,
You are right. I haven't read what either you or Dino said. I'm confused by how you made the mental leap from me stating my opinion, agreeing with that of other posters, to saying that I'm "fomenting something." I said nothing of a 'sinister' motive behind the practice, just a tad juvenile, if that. "Sinister" is YOUR word and I'd thank you to not put your words in my mouth. If you please.
I'm sorry... have I not responded to someone's attempts to reason with me here? If so, I surely missed it. Perhaps you could provide me with points of direction to where that occurred. I still think those who post of having knowledge of this-or-that and then 'run off,' as it were, keeping it to a select few after kicking up interest among the wider populace, are bound to generate bad feelings. It's something I learned long ago and assumed everyone else did, too.
I don't "put Sam on one side with me and MadA." If anything, I'm on THEIR side. You should try reading more carefully, Jerome. If I happen to agree with a poster and you think it's "divisive," well... that's something I'm going to have to struggle to live with. I like my chances.
I DID make my point and I DID drop it, responding only when Larc responded to me. I guess by responding to you, someone ELSE now will take up the "teejay doesn't know how to let it go" banner. We'll see. As far as "people skimming this thread and coming to conclusions...", I guess you'd be in a better position that I am to make that determination--knowing what other people think (other than what's posted). I can only say what I think, what MY opinion is. I did that.
And yes, you have made a mountain out of a molehill. Why that is, I can only guess.

Larc,
I remember the email you sent on my arrival here. I still have it, as a matter of fact. I thought it was cool when you sent it but have since reevaluated your intent.
I really don't think people need reminding about emails these days. It's on the daily "list of things to do" for most of us. We respond when we can and want. Personally I think that MadApostate and Sam have a point here, and I'm happy as hell that they are the ones who said it, leaving me to only agree.
I seems to me that if you have problems with particular posters, you should name them specificly and state the nature of your grievance. Isn't that the advice given in the scriptures?
Fair enough. Why don't you go to http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?site=3&id=10869&page=4, down near the bottom where I speak to you "specifically." I have a problem with you due to the low to which you have recently gone with your juvenile insults. You've taken on the appearance of a miss maudie, playing to a lesser crowd, it seems to me. I thought better of you. I've been wrong before.
that aside, I see no valid reason for anyone to tease posters to a public forum with info they never hope to reveal to the posters at large. "check your email" should suffice, but in my experience, even that simple phrase is unnecessary. Something more is at work, imo. MA and Sam have a point.

Guilty as Charged... I confess....
by AGuest into the "inquisition" of these days... that is on jw.com... may you have peace.. because there seems to be a 'movement' to 'expose' me as false, and judge and condemn me as a 'jezebel' and more... i would hereby like to confess my 'sins' and 'errors'... and repent my actions/inactions... before you... and all onlookers... if you will permit me.
thank you.. i confess... that i am a servant to the household of god, israel, and a slave of christ, by means of an anointing with holy spirit, which i received directly from the person of my lord, the son of god, jaheshua mischajah.. i confess... that i have been given the 'free gift' of holy spirit, in the form of hearing spirits, discerning inspired utterances, so that i hear not only the voice of my lord, the but voices of various spirits, so i am able to relate to others that hear, as well as those that do not hear... what the spirit says to the congregation.. i confess... that i have been freely given other 'gifts' of that same spirit, which gifts manifest themselves in me in various ways and which gifts i have not attempted to hide from anyone... man... or god.. i confess... that i have a love for my father and my lord to such an extent that i would subject myself to public humiliation, before all men, bear reproach now... and endure a 'torture stake' for the glory that awaits me, which glory i have nought but faith in, because i have heard of its certainty... and received my 'sealing'... directly from the one the promised such glory, my lord, the son of god, jaheshua mishajah.. i confess... that i have agreed to 'repay' my lord for his love and kindness... the undeserved kindness granted me... in the only way that i can... by obeying his voice and going to the household of god, those that go with them, and any others who are 'thirsting' and 'wishing'... and telling them that the same gifts and glories undeservedly afforded me... can be granted to them as well.. i confess... that as a true servant to the household of god, by means of undeserved kindness, i have been granted to know the fruit of my father's spirit that is love... for all of mankind... including my enemies.
a love such it compels me to tell what i hear to those who wish to hear of it, even at risk to my own spirit... whether they hear... or they refrain.. i confess... that contrary to what is 'usual' among so-called professed 'christians' and 'anointed', i have not sought to compel people to follow me, or to join any church, religion or other institution of 'theology', and will not, but instead, have asked and spoken only that any who 'hear'... and any who wish to hear... hear... and follow the voice of the fine shepherd, my lord, the son of god, jaheshua mischajah.... i repent... that i am but mere flesh and blood, a woman, a 'foolish thing' and 'weaker vessel', so that i do not always have the strength to stand against the opposition facing me, although i have wished no harm, no evil, no malice toward any.. i repent... that at times my forehead is not as hard as flint, and my heart is not so protected so as not to feel fright when facing off with my adversary and his agents.. i repent... that i do not possess in me the gifts of the spirit that grant miracles, such that those who do not believe can have the 'scales' removed from their eyes so as to see the things 'unseen', things almost too glorious for me to utter... with their own eyes... rather than simply ask for and be granted the 'free gift' of holy spirit and see for themselves.... i repent... that i do not possess in me the 'perfect' love that would move me to not feel hurt and pain when derided and ridiculed, but be able to say to my father, as did my lord, "forgive them father, for they do not know what they do.

Sam Beli said,
However, you do have a point about a 'clique' that seems to exist among some. For example: "check your e-mail;" "I'll call you;" "we?ll talk soon;" and similar expressions said on this board.
I noticed that someone made one of those statements the other day. I started to ask, "why bother saying what you just said?" but let it pass. I figured out how to deal with the "I know something and I'm not telling you" kind of statements back in third grade.
I support the right and freedom of people 'in the know' to keep secret or reveal what they wish, for whatever reason. I support their right and freedom to reveal it when and to whom they wish. But what's the deal when they post to a public forum something like, "I have awesome news but I can't post it here. Check your email"? I think we all know.
MadApostate and Sam have a point.
