do you think it's possible to fall in love with someone online?

assuming they give you a real picture of themselves and are honest about themselves.. is it possible to love this person before you meet them?

i'm not talking about the kind of love you share with your friends, i'm talking the real deal.

My brother had some online experiences...

The first one, told him everything he wanted to hear. They would call each other for hours...she lied and told him she was a cop from his state and they even talked marriage. He would send flowers to an address she gave him.....come to find out it was an abandoned house across from her real house. She was fat *really really obese* with 5 kids..... I guess her husband worked at night. That really burned him....

He had also been penpal-ing with a girl his age in Holland. After 2 years of writing, she came to visit him twice and they just married a few months ago. They are now in Holland visiting her family and are very much in love.

So I guess it can and can't happen...just like in real life.

how insecure he must be that he needs to make women fall in love with him.

missthedub, how true those words are. I have met many men who dont have much interest in getting to know you, they more want the attention on themselves. I just pity them...how insecure are they...to have to have women shower them with compliments?? A real man can show a sincere interest in others...without ploys of shallowness and cybersex. There are alot of those kinds of punks on the internet, so I think you have to be careful who you let into your life. It would take me a longgggg time to really trust somone online, enough to meet him.

on a side note, I did meet a wonderful friend online who I never even imagined I would get to know. He's been the most caring, supportive person I've ever met...every email just lifts my day!!

Your View On Capital Punishment

we all know the bible's view on capital punishment.

in fact, in the 1969 edition of aid to bible understanding, the author notes the following: .

"the value of life is considered so sacred by god that the blood of a murdered person is viewed by him as defiling the earth and such defilement can be cleansed only by shedding the blood of the murdered.

I'm sorry ...but the death penalty kills the guilty, abortion kills the innocent.

I am for the death penalty, provided the accused was well proven that they committed the offense. Like others mentioned, there are some satanic, sick people out there, who can not change and are human waste. They should not get three square meals a day, gym, television...while their victims rot in the ground. It's not vengance....it's common sense. If roaches infest your house do you coddle them, build a hotel for them and feed them everyday?? These psychopaths are no more than cockroaches...infesting our daily lives with bloodshed and violence.

Witnesses Are Great Folks

i know i'll get a lot of flack from this,but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.

it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.

(s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote,the more questions i had.and i,always,made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

I agree with Red and Coon that by far, there are many wonderful people that are baptized into the jw religion.....the problem is the thinking they have, that they are better than us (nonjws). I have met some wonderful and jerky people in the 'Truth'....I have met some wonderful Methodists, Russian Orthodox, Catholic, Baptist and non-denominational church goers and also have met real ass****'s in those same religions.

The only difference is, the latter members wont harp me until I come into their church, then ignore me if I dont want to.

I think it is the sheer cockiness and arrogance that get people....when a jw sees you in the mall and smirks while he runs to tell the other jws who he saw you with....it makes you want to gag.

in any case, the following are a couple of story/experiences i heard from my zen teacher, actually he's kind of one of those people who doesn't care much about specific traditions - truth is truth and so on.

Intro, thanks for sharing. I wish you posted it on Friends because I wholeheartedly agree. You have to think there are some major issues when people argue over the simplest of things. Makes you wonder what kind of hell they live in ..in real life??

I have no time for pettiness.. that man's grandpa was very wise. When you are angry, your heart is stressed, you get frown lines, you wrinkle, age young...... my motto is, chill out!!

Dakota, I really liked GunsNRoses when they were around...their Appetite for Destruction was a great cd. A pioneer brother turned me on to that cd...did you ever see the cover of it (maybe it was the inside)?? I was shocked that a jw had it..now it doesnt surprise me a bit.

What do you listen to when you're in a good mood? What does it make you think of? Feel free to post lyrics here and what emotions they stir up in you.

Jewel's 'You Were Meant For Me' is one that almost always get me melancholy...it is a song that perfectly describes a relationship that wasnt to be....everytime I put it on I think of 'him'. It's that achy, why did we break up feeling!!

When I am feeling good I listen to Outkast's 'Miss Jackson' or Prodigy's Fat of the Land cd. 'Smack my *** up' and 'Firestarter' are my faves....brings out the thrasher, rebel chic in me. I cant keep still!!

I always wanted to act...from birth, it's the only thing I wanted to do. I would put on plays for family, neighbors...anyone that watched. My family was pretty dysfunctional..I would act like my mom, yelling at the kids, then be my dad, staggering and hiccupping from being drunk. It's wierd, but everyone would die in hysterics..it kinda broke the tension and everyone said I was a perfect mimic.

When I was 7, I would write stories, draw pics to go with it and staple together a book. I would walk door to door (the jws taught me well lol) and sell my books for .10. I would also pick flowers from my moms garden and sell bunches in my wagon. So I guess I had a nack for business and marketing....

I've never lost my dream to act or perform, it just doesnt seem like something I can chase right now. I have enrolled in the community theatre though...it really helps in getting the 'bug' outta my system. I also have to take a theatre class in college next semester so that will be cool.

Actually, I did audition for a role as host to a dance show here in Anchorage...it was called Club 98 and was like BandStand. I hosted the show with another guy for 1 year until it was taken off the air. That was back when I was trying to be a good jw, the elders told me that I shouldnt try to be in the spotlight, and that the music scene glorified an unclean life. I hope that wasnt my 15 minutes of fame!!!

oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.

i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.

so i boringly reply,'oh yeah'..not really listening.

Being that my sis lives in another state, I could call or write a letter to an elder there that I was really close to. He is pretty hard line about being a jw ... I am thinking maybe a letter to his home explaining how discouraged I am about what my family has been doing?? LOL

They'd kill me for it though.... on the other hand..I do live miles away!

I'll let you all know what happens!

Boy do I know what you're talking about. My mom used to tell me demons resided in false temples (aka every church around). I was so terrified that I wouldnt even walk in their yard. Once, my boyfriend (when I was around 15) wanted to wait in the corridor of a church and I was scared the whole time. I remember praying to Jehovah to keep the demons away.

You know, this has affected me to this day. A few months ago I locked my keys in my car and had to walk downtown and find a phone. I knocked on a church's doors and felt my knees get weak. It was just coming near one that gave me the heeby jeebys. And I'm not even a jw anymore!! I guess I've been scarred for life.
