So some things and some people haven't changed. The funny thing is that the JW bitch thinks of herself as a loving nice Christian, deserving of her Jehovah's favor. How disgusting.

Impact of NWT
by menrov inhi all, just recently i was thinking about the period of my study and eventual baptism as jw.
it took many years, i guess in all about 10 years.
various times i stopped the study but after a while it started again.

So my question is: would anyone become a baptized JW when he/she only uses another bible, not the NWT?
Possible but doubt it.
In other words, if I would have continued to use my own bible, would I ever feel the need to become a baptized JW?
I don't see how using a different bible may affect your decision. I personally don't see a correlation between one thing and the other.

A millenniums old book in inaccurate languages, written when mankind was the most naive about its surroundings, written by different people in different periods in different languages, and written in parables, visions and dreams. Sure, I can see how its content will be so accurate (I'm being sarcastic just in case).

Actually, I don't see why a song or poem cannot be Nobel prize worthy. He's not the first person known primarily as a musician to win the prize in literature for poetic expression. In 1901 Sully Prudhomme won the prize for his poetic expression, in 1913 Rabindranath Tagore won for his poetic expression in music and in 2004 Elfriede Jelinek also won the prize.

Governing Body Meeting today - Agenda item ... (speculation alert)
by freddo inopening prayer: (lett) dear heavenly father jehovah god please bless this meeting with your loving direction, in jesus' name amen.. morris the turd: well brothers we have a problem - 99% of the worldwide work figures are in; and those lazy slackers in the field have come up short so what are we going to do?.
sam turd err ... herd: get the circuit overseers off their behinds to tell the secretaries to phone every non-reporter and inactive publisher and "remind" them that they "must have" done some preaching in the last six months and offer them the "fifteen minute" option.. david ex-splane: and if that doesn't work let's introduce some overlapping figures from last year; it worked on the generation chart that i explained so well!
kenneth "give us our daily bread" flodin said so!.

Appealing a DF decision
by HereIgo ini always found it interesting that one could appeal a disfellowshipping....if jehovah doesn't make mistakes, then there wouldnt be a need to "appeal" anything to begin with right?.
-

I think that the policy of appealing may be some kind of legal thing to cover their butts.
One of my sisters got Dfed and she wanted to appeal because she was interested in maintaining some sort of relationship with our family. I don't think that's the case now, though.
I illustrated to her what being disfellowhipped means to me by showing her an episode of the Golden girls where one of them got kicked out of an unauthorized "Hunk-a Hunk-a Burnin' Love" Elvis Presley fan club, after making fun of them worshiping a partially eaten pork chop that Elvis Presley ate. They were admiring his teeth marks.
She said, sarcastically "I've just been thrown out of an unauthorized Elvis fan club. I'll try to pick up the pieces and go on with my life. There must be a support group for people like me." That's how I feel. The WT organization to me makes as much sense as a group that worships a partially eaten pork chop. Getting kicked out of it is a batch of honor to me. I want to be rejected by them.

Final Rejection
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have just returned from visiting friends and family.
when i was disassociated my parents had contact with me a few months before my dad was diagnosed with cancer.
i was reinstated 20 months after his funeral and then they disfellowshipped me 5 months later as they are convinced i had not changed my life enough to be a jw again.

The next time I will see her now is probably in her box!!
I'm sorry you're going through that with your family. I don't necessarily advocate for that (what I quoted), but if there's any consolation in knowing that others go through same or worse, I am one who has gone through similar. Many of us do know how you feel.
Actually, in my case it was a little different. My parents and JW family did want to welcome me but only to do the same dysfunctional nonsense they do. They knew that I was the one who decided to walk away, so they were holding grudges and they wanted to have the last saying about our relationship.
The truth is that either way neither of us deserves that kind of treatment, and they are in the wrong. Make no mistake, they are the ones who should be apologizing and making amends, and wanting to have us with them. Choosing their stupid Jehovah over their loved ones is not a loving thing to do.

If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?
by minimus injehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.
i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.
.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

I'd first remember how it felt back when I was doing that same thing when people were being nasty. Keeping that in mind, I'd then look at the kind of approach the person has when addressing me. From there I could be polite and let them know that I have no interest in their organization, in changing my believes, no interest in their literature, no interest in anything they have to say (I used to try to keep the conversation going by asking people to be specific about what they were not interested in, so I'm not going to fall into my own old trick). From there, the level of impoliteness will depend on their level of pushiness.
So far I haven't had to get nasty with them, they have gotten it in the first round of communication.
