I found this great short clip that reminded me of this phenomenon
You call saying different things at different times a phenomenon? If that's not a sign of being influenced by a cult, I don't know what is.
we all know that one of the major advantages the society now has with everything being on its official website, is the ability to quickly change content when they desire.. so older articles that show them to have made mistakes, are simply re-written or edited...or even just deleted!
simple!
"nothing to see here...carry on".

the moment i saw the "request a study" form on the site, i thought, "umm, that could be a bad thing.".
but to date, i have heard of only one case where it was used for less than genuine purposes.
that was in the case of a "game developer" who was selling crappy asset-flips on steam.
Have there been other cases like this? If prayers really work to attract Witnesses to your door, why does the Borg need a website function that's so prone to fraud?
Never been to their website so I didn't even know that there was such form to request bible studies. If we're going to look at ineffective ways of communicating and using means that can be fraudulent, forget the website. Look at the bible.
forgive me if this has already been posted.
i laughed when i saw it and figured others might enjoy it as well.. .
.
LOL!
my active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).
Just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the NWT?
There's not such thing as a "message" from the Bible. From that perspective, it doesn't matter. If you want to show that the NWT has been translated to accommodate the nonsense from the WT, then have a nice study about the differences between the NWT and other versions. From that point of view it could be interesting to compare notes.
If you expect to figure out life and the future using any bible, good luck.
i was wondering if the gb has forbidden vaping yet, so i did a search.
there was a thread from a year ago, the comments covered all the bases i suspected the wt would come up with.
i'm out, so it doesn't really matter to me.
I'm out, so it doesn't really matter to me. My youngest adult daughter and her friends all vape. It's something of a hobby for them, the events, the online groups, etc. If I take an interest in it, and (maybe) vape occasionally myself it could be a shared interest.
Good luck. Please don't become one of those rude obnoxious idiots that think that because it's not nicotine it's ok to throw that stupid smoke on other people's faces. Some of us know what that is and still don't give a hoot about it.
what other cut backs do you think will be coming or might be coming these next few years for the borg ?.
Hmm... nope, never mind. I just farted.
i cannot think of a single doctrine that is so clearly laid out in the bible that every christian sect teaches the same point.
are there any doctrine where there is total consensus amongst all christian religions, including jehovah's witnesses?.

Yes, there is. Hate.
i do remember reading an article that it is not ok for jw to sell cigarettes at gas stations, etc... i was wondering what about lottery tickets?
they do sell lottery tickets at few restaurants around my home.
if jw works there and rats me out to the elders, i would not give a damn about it but i still prefer not to hear from the elders about it..

I hope this way of living doesn't last long. It's not ok for you to feel like you need permission to do your own job.
i came across this very informative and thought provoking video.
it was produced by marc and cora latham, who are quite well known among british activists.. if you have 15 minutes to spare, i encourage you to watch it.
it certainly gave me pause for thought!.
Nice. This might help some people wake up.
a month ago i decided to register in this board.
i had decided to step down pioneering but was frightened about the consequences.
i had finished my university degree some months before (despite disaproval from brothers in my congregation) and i had to choose: continue pioneering and working in jobs with no future or starting a career, working full-time.. i was thinking to postpone the decisiton but... i was fed up with preaching.
That's great. I'm happy for you. Keep trusting your own instincts. I hope the job is good and provides you with a good start for your career. If not, just get another one.
When I left and entered the workforce (I'm a born in) I didn't have a lot of the skills that are necessary to succeed in the workplace. I didn't lose my job because I was very fortunate to have a great mentor, but it was clear that I was clueless about managing my career.
I wonder if you have thought of that. As JWs we do develop some skills that are excellent, but we also lack some other skills. I'm saying this to encourage you not to feel bad if you feel that you may need more support than others in managing your career.
Wish you the best.
