Atheism = self defeating.
by towerwatchman inatheism = self defeating.
first may we define our terms.
the word atheism comes literally from the greek, alpha the negative and theos [for god], therefore “negative god” or there is no god.

Atheism not only denounces the existence of God, but by its own definition denounces the principle by which it criticizes the reality of God. To make an absolute statement in the negative is similar to saying that nowhere in the universe does there exist a flying spaghetti monster. For the atheist to make such a claim he must have unlimited knowledge of this universe. What the atheist is fundamentally saying is that he has infinite knowledge of this universe to affirm that there exist no being with infinite knowledge. It is self defeating.
What a load of crap. Atheism doesn't "denounce" anything. Again, this seems to be based on the premises that (a) Atheists are an organization like the ones theists join, (b) all atheists are somehow united in the same way of thinking as the WT brainwashes people to be, (c) atheists compare notes, get instructions or are aligned with each other and believe the exact same thing (d) atheists are "against" or "anti" something, or (e) we simply refuse to listen to anything other than what reinforces what they believe. All that is just nonsense.
Sweetie, it is very simple. We don't need to prove the non existence of God, we don't need to prove anything to you, and for that we don't need a bible, nor a congregation, and certainly not "unlimited knowledge of the universe", whatever that means, anyway to feel confident in pour non-believes. Get over it.

Do JW members follow any directive from GB blindly?
by Da.Furious infollowing from the worldwide campaign to send letters to the russian government: topic covered here.. i started observing a scary trend, i got around 100 messages on multiple messaging apps, facebook and other social media posts encouraging all jws to send letter to the russian government protesting on the ban with the hope they will overturn it.. what struck me is that all are doing it and encouraging others to do it.
so, what if the gb via jw.org request something like street protests, civil disobedience, to the extreme of voting for or against a particular law or fighting (far-fetched).. what would the jw membership do, not the awakened one?
in addition, i feel this exercise exposes the awakened ones.

Do JW members follow any directive from GB blindly?
Many do.
Some don't do blindly, but coerced or by feeling obligated for feeling too invested in that organization, so they feel trapped.
Some follow out of pressure from family.
Some truly believe that going against a believe will have horrible consequences.
Some follow not necessarily blindly, but just because they don't want to think or decide for themselves.
Some do out of pride or fear of embarrassment.
Some don't follow and get away with it, convincing others that there some kind of biblical reason for them to be the exception.
Some don't follow and hide or live a double life.
Some don't follow and leave or are shunned.

I've got quite a lot of non-J.W gay and lesbian friends and they've all been wonderful to me over the years, so these comments hurt me personally, but I know most J.W's feel like this.
It shows what kind of narrow-minded and prejudiced people some J.W's are, but if confronted they would just say such people live contrary to Jehovah's guidelines and the bible clearly shows they will die.
I wonder what's new about this. I find it difficult for you to just find out that that's what the average JW says, whether they actually feel that way or not, plus they show the same type of hatred for pretty much anything and anyone who isn't like them.
Not sure what made you react and the way you are now. Are you just realizing that now? And since when are JWs allowed to have friends outside their crop, especially LGBT people? Times have changed, I guess.
At least among the JWs I know you might be the outlier, not them.

3. I have heard many stories of child abuse cases in which the victim was discouraged from reporting the crime to the authorities, is anyone aware any previously written instruction to this effect?
I have and read copies of the transcripts from some of the court cases that were settled in USA, and some mention something like that, though they are court cases, so I guess that they did in fact speak up. Will that help?

Why are Republican's so consistantly dishonest?
by Coded Logic init hasn't gone unnoticed that the republicans who are saying, "we need to get to the bottom of the obama wiretapping" and "let's investigate this" - are the same people, when it comes to trump's russian ties, who are saying, "we shouldn't look at this at all - it's just a bunch of lies and hype.".
no evidence whatsoever for claims about obama need a congressional investigation.
but mountains of evidence about trump with more coming out everyday can be swept under the rug.

Yes, there are democrats who are dishonest, BUT, the republican party is known for it. It has become their culture, the fabric of their party. It's just who they have become. Finding dishonest people in a party is one thing, dishonesty becoming the fabric of the party, like with the republican party, is a completely different thing.
