Can you imagine actually putting your hard earned money into a contribution box for that?
If you are brainwashed, I can clearly see that happening. Maybe black paint was on clearance?
i've seen some depressing color schemes at the kingdom and assembly halls in my lifetime, but this one could be the worst.. a family member just sent me an email to tell me she had nice day at the assembly.
she attached a picture of the stage to show me a friend of hers who had a part.
other than the platform itself which had cream carpeting it was nothing but various shades of black!

if you have a look at the december broadcast on jw tv they tell you that they wont be showing you a normal format for december but the 143rd event of gilead because the watchtower does not have the resources other wise to translate it many different lanuages.. with all the cuts the watchtower have made and are going to make you would have thought that they would have lots of resources.
With all the cuts the watchtower have made and are going to make you would have thought that they would have lots of resources
Probably they meant that they don't have resources to share with their people. Either way, I see that as a very good thing.
i have noticed in the uk a few families i used to know while in the borg have exited together.
some include former elders and ministerial servants.
i observed on social media pages that the kids have 'worldly' boyfriends and girlfriends and they look so much happier than they did in the org.
I think the main reason for leaving is that the kids have introduced their parents to their friends not in the org and the parents wake up after seeing the world isn't bad after all.
That could be a reason. That would never fly in my family, though. I think that elders are placed in a bad position. They are placed in positions of authority, which some may find cool, but time after time becomes clear to many that they just don't have the life experience, leadership skills or political spine to continuously deal with people's personal problems and provide the very bad advice that they are bound to give. And then, they don't even get a thank you from their peers nor (horrors!) the WT.
Many elders are just burned out. Just my opinion.
Have you seen whole families leave? If so, for what reasons?
Not all at once, like a family Exodus. However, I've seen family members following the steps of some who leave, and the the entire family being out, and yes, like you say, happier, healthier and more vibrant.
for me, beyond any shadow of a doubt, it's the extreme shunning policy.. at a recent sunday meeting, i listened to a complete brainwashed sister saying how important it was that we stick to the shunning policy even if it is a close relative.. i just thought.
wtf.
there is a big difference between the brainwashed and the awoken class!.
For me it's the fact that they insist in running an organization in the 21st century the way they did in the 19th century. Those idiots are not keeping up with the times. They still have the same archaic model.
That includes everything from their shunning practices, selling printed material, expecting their people to survive out of unskilled labor or a simple trade, no diversity and inclusion, horrible decision making about technology implementation and use, the list of their shitty practices is endless.
sir simon,.
how many dozen bloody times do i have to do the capcha thing before i get in.
one round of street signs or cars and that was it.
Sir Simon,
How many dozen bloody times do I have to do the capcha thing before I get in. I never had to before. One round of street signs or cars and that was it. Please fix..
I thought I was the only one. Lately it has become almost impossible to log in.
i have written some time ago, about how the religion i grew up in no longer exists.
i was an 80’s jw kid who became a pioneer then a bethelite.
they have new meetings, new elder roles, new acronyms, new core teachings, new songs and even a new bible.
That's more like it,
exodus 15:3, "the lord is a man of war: the lord is his name.
" kjv, esv, asv.. exodus 15:3, "jehovah is a powerful warrior.
jehovah is his name.
Does the Watchtower favor interpretation over translation, especially in the case of Exodus 15:3?
Yes, especially in the case of anything that is to their advantage, including Exodus 15:3 (whatever that says).
i remember as a young dub, being told by others and particularly from the platform that apathy was the number one enemy and in many ways i think that's true today.
people are seeing a change from the 70's - 80's (the last time the end 'felt' close to many) and now the witnesses are in a rut.
the society seem to have backed off from making bold claims and instead seem to be trying their best to retain the members they have as opposed to trying to gain attention of others as they did in the formative years of the religion when they wore sandwich boards - throw in the growing spotlight on child abuse issues and you've got yourself a religion that's trapped in a purgatory of sorts - the majority of long time members will stay in the religion and die in the religion but as time goes on i think are clearly losing interest and the 'fiery passion' that used to be so obvious before and outsiders just arent interested as there are better, more interesting things to do.
This religion won't die in a huge fiery blaze of glory, but i'm almost 100% certain that it will fade out into nothingness other the next 100 years (30 years?) as it becomes less profitable and loses it's members to old age and lack of interest
I sort of agree. I think that they are going to (are currently are) evolve into something else. They are liquidating, and they are still exploiting their people to their bones. I think they are going to squeeze the juices from their crop until they can't anymore. So yes, as the religion that they are today, they will be gone, but something else may replace it.
I don't think that money is the only thing that those people like. The love exercising power over other people too. In fact, that need to control people is so strong that it has negatively impacted them and the still don't let go.
my dad's phone rings.
its a secretary from his dermatologists office.. her:.
"just calling for "mr. wasa sr." to remind him his appointment is next wednesday at 2pm.".
Some people don't listen. Do you find this in the service industry in your locale? Any other stories to share? I had to laugh, poor girl. I know JW's don't listen to householders. Ever been with a witness on a call or at a door and they didn't even respond to the householders' words or concerns?
In the healthcare system? Forget it, they can't care less.
Is the Watchtower's concept of 'perfection' biblical?
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on what you mean by "perfection" and by "biblical". I do know that whatever the WT has to say about anything is pure bullshit, though.
