It isn't easy staying involved in the ex-JW community.
No pun intended, but AMEN!
I also want express appreciation for Simon. Managing an ex-JW community has to be difficult, so thank you.
i don't remember seeing it ever really talked about here but the facebook group with the namesake of this post shut down at the end of march.
it was archived and they weren't clear as to when or if they would come back.
it seemed to come out of nowhere, and i know a lot of people were disappointed.

it is funny to contemplate how ridiculous the act of shunning "apostates" who leave the org for conscientious reasons is.. so we have been rudely ignored and even abused by jws who :.
1) have been imprisoned recently for dishonest business practices and fraud worth millions of dollars.
2) have been bankrupt several times.
I don't use the term apostate at all. That's their lingo, and I don't follow their stupid rules.
would you join a religion which punishes you if you later on change your mind and choose to leave it?.
would you join a religion which claims to be the only one guided by god and yet has always got their prophetic utterances entirely wrong?.
would you join a religion which changes its beliefs every few years?.
Would you join a religion...
No, end of the story.
I confess I did join but these things were not clearly explained before I joined.
Which is what makes it a controlling cult, not just a religious organization.

Thanks for sharing. Very lovely.
so, i'm quite into films, and horror is my favourite genre.. i don't own many franchises in full or almost in full.. but when i first started collecting dvds, i did tend to buy every film in a particular franchise if i enjoyed the first film or two.. i bought alien (1979) and aliens (1986) second-hand for 99 pence each (less than a dollar each!
) and they're fantastic.. so, i went back to the second-hand shop and bought alien 3 (1992), alien resurrection (1997) and prometheus (2012) ... erm, yes.
alien 3 (theatrical cut) was pretty good; resurrection was so bad it's funny and despite the gorgeous shots and good acting by michael fassbender, prometheus wasn't my thing.
Aliens is one of my favorite movies of all times. And yes, Resurrection was ridiculous.
be courageous, and blessed is he that cometh in the name of jah.
she didn't want us to go in the ugly vintage station wagon together so she carpooled with her friends, so i'm going dressed as one of the wurzels on a raleigh rally.
oo-arr oo-arr.. the org is robbing us of time together, so i have a right to crash the parties she goes to.. if anyone has any judgments, at least i came carbon neutral..
I need a cryptologist to get the humor in this one.
jdubs are the masters of deception.
what would you do if you were studying with the jdubs and they told you that when you get the truth, become a jdub, and join the borg that every single person in the world is bad association?
in fact, you will have to be careful because even some in the congregation can also be bad association and you have to be careful around them if they have too much facial hair or if the sisters' skirts are a little too short or if the brother pants are a little too tight.. and you will find such delight in not dwelling upon the life that you have now which is unimportant because this system of things is going to be destroyed so there is no need to get a good education or to worry about your problems.. you just need to focus on the paradise earth that is just around the corner..
If only JDubs were truthful with their Bible students
Excellent observation. If you ever care to venture to inquire why, all you have to do is research the dynamics of high demand, controlling groups. Deception and controlling people are the core reasons why they exist n the first place.
why are so many youth flipping out and gunning down fellow students?
is there something seriously wrong with society?
does the public education/indoctrination system need some serious tweaking?

The recent rise in these shootings tells us something, what is it?
I don't think that I could ever come up with an accurate answer as to why the violence in schools. I do believe that there are serious issues with society in general.
What worries me most is that people are in denial. They refuse to relate their attitudes, believes and values, with their actions, the way they relate to others and the consequences of all of it.

To me the message is not clear. Other than there's something fundamentally wrong with the way we live today, that is.
@Simon:
Because people want to be on TV.
Because the media talk about it endlessly.
Because people copy what they see on TV.
Because many of them need a slap.
I agree to some point with what you state. I do believe that many people want the attention, and some things, especially among the youth, can become "a thing". However, I think that some things go deeper than that.
I have a friend who is a psychologist, and he's tells me that there's a rather exponential increase in depression among children and adolescents. His opinion is that he feels like the way parents raise them makes them feel abandoned and dismissed. Too many parents are letting electronic devices take care of their children, and those parents who work have minimum wage strangers taking care of them and raising them.
Aside from a "slap", they need to feel present in their lives as family. Just my thoughts.
news in general are supposed to be unbiased.
but given how commercial and political interests get their tentacles around them, finding a fully unbiased news website is not so easy.. here in america some would rather trust bbc or reuters than they do cnn or fox news.
any favorites?.

I see most-to-all news venues in America having a lot of bias. However, what I think it's the problem is not how news are delivered. Americans are very complacent about listening only to what they like hearing about. They only see bias and "fake news" when they hear something that challenge their believes.
I don't fully trust any source of news, especially in American media. I am very good at noticing bias, even when it is towards things that I like, believe and stand for.
a cool sense of tranquility calms my troubled spirit.. i emerge slowly from deeply entrenched nightmares and proceed into gentle reverie, into quiet wakefulness.
youthful ideals, embodied in vaporous form on the street below, are a black reminiscence.
they are certain to return as a want, an untold want, having neither name nor substance but providing a niggling dig that skewers my soul.
Very nice.
