Why are the evolutionist's so upset?
by Esse quam videri inso many evolutionist's on this forum are upset at the terror attacks in europe such as recently in sweden.
it is just a logical step in the evolution of the human race.
should you not rather be celebrating the great changes taking place right before your eyes and constructing detailed explanations of the cell structure and dna development in the human brain.. you can't eat your cake and still have it.

Typical creationist crap. Gee how effing ignorant!

Not at all, and the ones who know me get flustered when they see me. I'm quite sure those who read my posts may have a clue of why.

Having a bit of a problem. In January I quit a job of 22 years to work at a shop that does screw attachments. Awesome job so far! Every day is such a challenge and often I leave with a brain ache from all the thinking.
Well now my former boss seems to be out of commission and not coming back. (He's the reason why I left the company) Now they really want me back because nobody can program or run the machines he used to run.
It would be a $4.50 an hour increase and 4 weeks payed vacation. But I love my current job!!
Any advise?
Seems like you have it figure out, so for what it's worth, in my experience I learned that working conditions and satisfaction are as important than money. Money alone should not be the determinant factor. Consulting work is as good, just make sure to inform yourself about how to properly price it so you don't get screwed with the taxes.

Proof they are not a cult??
by lriddle80 inthe following is from a facebook post and..maybe i am missing something, but none of these items disprove them being in a cult.
jehovah's witnesses are often mistaken to be something else.
some say it a secret cult while others believe something else.......i'm very proud to tell you my readers that i'm one of jehovah's witnesses.. below are 17 facts that shows jehovah's witness is not a cult..... 1. there are currently about 8 million jehovah's witnesses around the world.. 2. an average of over 800 people become jehovah's witnesses daily.. 3. we keep coming to your doors even though we have regular jobs and family like you because we are admonished to do so by jesus christ.. 4. we do not participate in wars and for this reason more than 1600 jehovah's witnesses were killed by hitler.. 5. there are currently over 300 jehovah's witnesses in prison in south korea and egypt because they refused to stop preaching or enlist in the military.. 6. we don't salute the flag or say national anthems because we pledge our allegiance only to god.. 7. yes we have fun and party too so don't get that twisted.. 8. not many of us know the name of the president of our headquarters because we do not pay any reference to him he is a fellow servant of god just like the rest of us are.. 9. you earn the privilege of becoming a jehovah's witness.

Well, when I look at the list, these are the items that I found that prove that they are a cult, not that they aren't:
We keep coming to your doors even though we have regular jobs and family like you because we are admonished to do so by Jesus Christ.
There are currently over 300 Jehovah's witnesses in Prison in South Korea and Egypt because they refused to stop preaching or enlist in the military.
We don't salute the flag or say national Anthems because we pledge our allegiance only to God.
Yes we have fun and party too so don't get that twisted.
Not many of us know the name of the President of our headquarters because we do not pay any reference to him He is a fellow servant of God just like the rest of us are.
You earn the privilege of becoming a Jehovah's Witness. It's not given to you or passed down.
We sin too.
Do you know as a Jehovah's Witness I could visit China and spend a night at any Jehovah's Witnesses without either of us feeling suspicious of each other.
Last year Jehovah's witnesses around the World spent a total of 1,841,180,235 hours preaching .That's not including the fact that they feel compelled to prove that they aren't a cult. The fact that they have to constantly explain and defend themselves is proof of that too.
I agree that none of the items in the list proof that the aren't a cultic organization. However, if you look at the larger picture, the list looks like a promotion of the WT than anything else. That post doesn't look like any invitation to conversation, nor an invitation to be questioned about their statements.
Also, based on what I know about cultic organizations and relationships, they are way off in making those statements that don't even remotely relate to the very definitions of cults and cultic relationships.

We hid from JW's !!
by Phizzy inwell, not exactly hid, but we did what homeowners used to do to us when we were door knocking as jw's.. they trundled in to my street about half past four this afternoon, delivering memorial invitations, one jw lady who i have known since she was born, looked right at me through my street facing window, it was then i realised who they were.. i was semi-naked having just come in from sunbathing, and mrs phizzy said " i am not going to the door if they ring".
i said "well, i can't be arsed to get dressed so they can just ring !"..
eventually they sent a youngish lady who i did not recognise, she rang the bell, we did not answer, so she shoved the invite through the door.. i kind of feel strange about this, if they come to my door i usually chew the fat with them, but it also felt kind of liberating to just ignore them.. i do feel that they will think i was too cowardly to answer the door, which i know is not so, i simply could not be arsed, but then, who cares what they think ?

I relate to that. To me the real liberation is not reacting one way or another. That's the best way of removing ourselves from their negative influence.

I'm 90% PIMO but events in Russia made me stop and think maybe Jehovah is real and helping
by Isambard Crater ini'm at the stage where i'd love a big scandal to come along showing clearly that the j.w's are not the true religion, but sometimes i get touched inside by various thoughts or events, the russian court trial being one of them.. i mean, j.w's are understandably fixated with attending the memorial, so why didn't the court say it will resume on monday or tuesday, instead setting wednesday 12 april as the date?
part of me believes the comments from pro-j.w's that jehovah moved events so they could attend the memorial.. it seems the j.w's will not be banned, which makes my mind and heart wrestle between thinking jah's behind it, or maybe the ministry of justice is just woefully prepared compared to the superb australian royal commission team who did their homework.
it surprises me the russians seemingly haven't done any homework..

I could reason with you, pointing that in the same paragraph where you state that "Jah's behind it", you also mention the state of preparedness of the ministry of justice and the Royal Commission (which hints no divine intervention at all). OK, I just did, but regarding of how much it makes sense (or doesn't) to gauge the level of involvement of "Jehovah" based on the different outcomes, what I get from your post is something that I find more relevant.
I may be wrong, but I get the impression that even with doubt, you still care for the WT and what they say about their "Jehovah" being true. I wonder what exactly makes you feel that way, that is, on one hand you have reasonable proof (that works for you) about the WT not being what they claim they are, but on the other hand seems like you want to reinforce it by some kind of unequivocal proof (by means of a scandal). I wonder why would you need something like that, or, actually, what result do you think a scandal will cause? Is it for you, for your own reinforcement of what you know, or is it for the world to know that you are right about how you feel?
To me that's important because things like that are among the reasons many people stay in their congregation (or leave) and continue making important life decisions judged based on what they say. That's not something to be taken lightly.

Apologists saying that the JWs shouldn't be banned, what the hell!??
by Crazyguy init's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.
i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.
they are an extremist group!

First, no, they are not an extremist group, trust me, I know very well what I am talking about. If you don't want to take my word for it, please look at reliable sources of information on extremist groups. In no way am I defending the WT, nor saying that they are harmful. They are very harmful, but they are not extremist.
Second, they do have the right to exist are a religious organization. They are a legitimate religious organization, and they make sure that when/if they violate the law, they are well protected. Personally what I advocate for is for them being held accountable for their illegal practices and coverups, and of course, to stop such practices, but for as much as I don't want them to exist as a religious organization, I cannot legally do that. Doing that is giving others the rights to remove me from existing as a non-believer.
Immoral and illegal are not the same thing. Ask any rude subway rider in New York.

I finally get why people like to shun.
by poopie init finally hit me today.
why do religions enjoy shunning.
because many people feel like being close to god makes them special however just being special is not enough for many religious people that shun they must feel extra special how?

It finally hit me today. Why do religions enjoy shunning. Because many people feel like being close to God makes them special however just being special is not enough for many religious people that shun they must feel extra special How? By not speaking to someone they feel has been abandoned by God himself so if my religous leaders tell me that John has been abandoned by God and you want to feel close to God you must also abandon John or you will not be close to God . That's the reasoning wow and it works psychologicaly.
Great! It's about progress, not perfection.
