The coordinator of cong visited me last night

3 hours later and i might as well talked to myself.
i used every illustration and persuasive argument.

I hope that doesn't surprise you. Again, presenting facts and evidence alone will do little if nothing at all. If you have been a JW, you should know that yourself.
3 hours of your life that you will never get back.

Why I think the Trinity doctrine is an irrelevant talking point with JWs, and what I believe could be a better approach.
by Island Man inthere are no authentic/uncontested bible verses that prove a trinity.
the trinity doctrine is arrived at by inferences - not unlike the way that jws arrive at the doctrine that jesus is michael the archangel.
the jw proof texts against the trinity are at least as strong, if not stronger than, trinity proof texts.

Interesting. My approach is more on how relevant that is in the bigger scheme of things. If you believe differently than what the WT says, they claim that you will get killed. To me, that is more important to address.

chasing me for a report
by Phoebe ini'm fairly new on here and i've told a lot of my story but to recap, after 60 odd years i've stopped going to the meetings.
my husband had already left the truth years ago and my children didn't become jws.(phew!).
i had a horrendous childhood growing up as a witness which included sexual assault by a close relative, also a jw.

But how do I handle this?
First, big hug. It's quite A story and that's the least that we all can give you.
I don't know the specifics about your relationship with other JWs or any other attachment that you may have, even if you decided to stop going. I say this simply because it's impossible for me to completely erase my first 23 years of life born-in and raised a JW, leave alone 60 years.
I'm also inquiring because I could tell you what I would do, which is not advise, nor is it something I necessarily encourage you to follow.
What I would do is that every single time that every single JW contacted me, I would not drop the topic of the abuse and the letter, and talking to the elders, and them turning their backs on you. I wouldn't miss the slightest opportunity to give them a reminder.
To me, doing that: (a) would give me the power to let them know what needs to be addressed if they want to deal with me at all, (b) will force them to either address the issue or leave you alone once and for all.
Again, this is what I would do. Another course of action is just letting them go. Be always busy, always "will call them back", always have something to do and never have all the time in the world for them. remember, you are no longer supposed to be obligated (you never were, anyway) to drop everything and talk to them just because they say so.
One more thing is that you have a great asset, which is your non-JW family, and a husband who knows where you are coming from. Use them, get closer to them, get their support. I'm sure that they will be on your side.
When it comes to sexual abuse, the trauma is not just the event; it's also that disgusting coverup that people do. Sadly, religious organizations (many, though not all), are as guilty of doing that very same harmful thing.
I hope this helps, and another hug.

Can a jw past come back to haunt a person ?
by lancelink inwhen a person joins the jw organization, do they make a statement claiming that they totally renounce any other religion ?.
i recently took a class titled " religions of the world" and for a final project students need to attend several religious services, and write a paper on the experience.. i find religions to be very interesting to study, but it has crossed my mind that i may have agreed to something when i became a witness back in 1977/ 15 years old at the time.
it is not a major concern, but i would just hate for some statement to appear, or be found by someone stating that i once completely disavowed any religion outside of the jw's.. not being neurotic here, just don't want that ridiculous part of my past jumping up and stabbing me in the back😜.

Interesting thoughts. Some things make more sense (at least to me), when I make a difference between religion, religious organizations, religious based businesses and cults (also known as high-demand, controlling groups). What and how people live, the things they need/have to do after they walk away from any of those, they all vary depending on what they are leaving. That is, not to mention that some people are kicked out, like Dfed people.
Please bear in mind that controlling, manipulative organizations always give the illusion that the controlled people are making a decision on their own, hence they always stay away from negative statements such as "renouncing other religions".

...qualified to hear the condemnation mentioned in Mathew 7:21-23
"qualified to hear"? What the heck does that mean?
Anyway, thanks, doubtfull1799. I happened to have read his book. Good work, and fun to watch,

Evolutionist on their deathbed.
by Nimble duck ini would really like to read the thoughts of an evolutionist as they lie on their deathbed.
their "honest to nogod" thoughts.
their terrors.

I would really like to read the thoughts of an evolutionist as they lie on their deathbed. Their "honest to noGod" thoughts. Their terrors. Their nightmares. Their fears.
I would like to crawl deep into the recesses of their mind and see it for myself.
Do they really believe all that noise they spread? As they lay there contemplating their final breaths, do they really believe that soon, they will cease to exist, in a dying world that teeters on the brink of annihilation, a world that wont remember them and that will one day cease to exist also.
Do they really believe that they will be gone, truly gone, forever, like they never existed in the first place?
Or in that final time, do they entertain that ever prevalent notion that they will go to heaven, or be resurrected, or even come back as a goat. That somehow, somewhere, it's not really "over", done, finito?.
And who the fuck are you for me to even bother addressing you?

Will The Internet Immune The World From The Watchtower Virus/Meme?
by Brokeback Watchtower ina hot internet topics: creation or evolution, and many other related discussions, the amount of ridicule the watchtower receives over the internet far out surpasses any passing of possitive internet data to the world's unfettered view.
you need a good internet presents it is vital for the cult to survive, and the internet simply won't allow this cult to prosper, but rather is sending it into ridicule filled bankruptcy, as public gets immune from the wt(virus) fairy tale about them being the only ones to survive god's righteous indignation and repopulate the earth with more drones like members.
they are stopping all construction and are selling kingdom hall, and dissolving congregations nobody is getting baptized because the public is just too informed to believe their bull shit.

I wouldn't say rock solid, I'm sure if you look at their books they have been bleeding money for decades with their cost of manufacturing printed material that hardly nobody wants to read, so much so that they required pledges from their members and basically stolen all their congregations cash on hand in excess of a few month operating cost, plus they put a hold on all construction project accept 2 or three(big money drain) and are selling all the tools they have for construction at discount prices.
Or that's what they are lead to believe. Look at how many KHs were given to them for free, and how many they have sold. That alone, without counting on their Brooklyn prime real estate, along with continuing having free labor, nope, they are just fine.
However, to be honest, I personally don't care one way or another. They can prosper or they can go bankrupt. Either way they are out of my life. I don't need to see them suffer for me to feel ok.
