I agree about the 90 minutes, but I wasted way more time being a JW, so not a big deal to me.

Do You Ever Think Of ALL The Wasted Time Because You Were a JW?
by minimus inthe longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy.

The longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy. We wasted so much because we were Witnesses!
I don't dwell on that, and I feel happier that I am out, that I left, and more importantly, that being a JW was not my decision. I was raised in that organization. I walked away from it all and gave myself a good chance at the life that I have built for myself, which seems to be envied by some.
To me is a waste of time to swell on the time wasted. However, it has been good for me to keep in mind where I come from; that keeps me in the right path in life.

I'm writing a letter to my country's branch
by Ray Frankz inhi everyone.. well, i have some good news.
after having a terrible moment arguing with my mom about the 1914 teaching and all it evolves (she get really upset and i felt great regret for starting the argument) she came to me next day and started talking with a much more open mind, and she talked about a lot of concerns too.. she and my father naivily expressed the wish to write to bethel to ask about 607bc.
i told in all the possible ways it wouldn't work.

Any of you guys has ever sent such letter to ask abou the wt beliefs? Any suggestions?
Seems like you have realistic expectations on what the response from the WT will be regarding any of their teachings, particularly the one that has come back to bite them in their asses the most.
My suggestion is to send the letter. I think you are right that they are not going to congratulate you or say that they care about you, or that they will admit to an error or lying. However, something else that the letter may do is make you feel good about doing that.
You have a voice, you are entitled to your own opinion and to your own freedom of thought. As a way of reclaiming that right that they try to take from you, I think the letter could be a good thing in that sense. Other than that, I think you are right, they are not going to give you anything good in return.

I went Elder Hunting yesterday!
by Tight Pants Twinkle Toes inwin my first post i introduced you to tweedle dee and tweedle dum, ( surprise elders visit ).
well last sunday night i got phone call from t- dum, he informed me that t-dee was listening in, no doubt practicing his short hand.
t-dum went on to say how he was concerned that we were making the biggest mistake of our lives, yada yada.

I never thought that hunting was that much fun, now I'm thinking I might do it for a living!
In time it's going to get boring, especially as you realize that they are just not worth your time.
They really expect people who act ashamed and scared of them when they approach you. It was good to see that the hunter became prey.

Trump son-in-law Kushner denies collusion with Russia - Just A crazy thought or two.
by WHATSGOINGON inokay so jared kushner will probably be thoroughly investigated maybe he already has been.. they will look at all of his business dealings, who he was worked with over the last few years.. who sold him all of their properties - we know the answer to that.
wt.. will the u.s government also investigate watchtower as well - we shall see.
you never know what will happen.. i can see a private investigation who knows what they will uncover.. just a thought.. wgo..

I think that they might take a look, but just as they will with any other business. The moment they see nothing relevant that will be the end of it. The WT is not that important.

The REAL Reason I Stopped Going to Meetings
by NoviceLocs14 into sum it up in all one word...pride.. i've always kind of attributed my subconscious "fade" to shame for living a double life by dating my non-jw boyfriend (now husband) while serving as a pioneer in the foreign language field.
but i was actually pretty regular for awhile.. my pioneer hours did start to dwindle, however.
i had always struggled with the hourly requirement, but i was really struggling now.

...they dismissed the third elder and took me in the back room...
You realize how inappropriate that is, right?
Hopefully you get to the point when you feel mad at yourself for feeling ashamed for their inappropriate, inadequate, bully and abusive behavior, when they are the ones acting inappropriately. After that, you will gain the real perspective of your situation with them.
Being a pioneer is something that you chose to do. They should be grateful for what you gave them.

Don't know them, so I can't vote. Feels so good being so detached from all of them to the point that I don't even know who they are.

A WTF Moment While In the WTS
by Searching inhas anyone else had a moment, while still within the organization (and before learning ttatt) that caused them to stop and go, "this is kind of messed up.".
for instance, back i believe in the early 2000's, i was attending a dc with my family.
it was announced at the beginning of the convention that there was going to be a special announcement at the end, so for everyone to please try to remain until the very end of the meeting.

there was a friend of ours there doing security, and she happens to be an exjw too.
she sent me a message on messenger to inform me that my brother and his wife were at the show, not knowing that i'd be there too.

Thank you so much for sharing. Who knows if that interaction may make them think. I'm sure they will remember it.
