Governing Body Members Autographing Bibles
by HereIgo ini have an online ex jw friend who pointed out to me that she stumbled upon a may 15, 1999 watchtower that had pictures of governing body members autographing bibles for people.
i have no bound volumes or cd rom copies anymore so i can verify.
two things came to mind, if this is true:.

Has anyone seen this??
Yes, I have. Also, back when I was growing up, in my local congregation many people were treating the CO as some kind of celebrity too.
How could men sign something that they did not write or create?
The concept of men acting as God's proxy and taking the credit is not new. One of the worst narcissistic personality disorder cases I've ever seen was this one elder that once he said that he is Jehovah.
Also, I remember one WT article featuring a member of the GB as if he was some kind of celebrity.
Isn't this worshiping of men akin to Idolatry?
Absolutely, it is according to what they claim they teach. However, by now we all know that they are full of --it, and that teaching and real spirituality are not their objectives.

When JWs Pray for Houston
by NJ501 inwhen i hear prayers given by brothers why do they only pray for other jws not all people??
i remember hearing a comment from my mother saying 4000 jws are affected by this...and i'm thinking yes that is sad but what about the tens of thousands other people affected?
too me it just doesn't seem right to just pray for jws but to pray for all victims.

...why do they only pray for other JWs not all people??
They believe that the entire world is not worth saving, hence they feel like it's a waste of time to help people other than themselves.

My return to the WT...a terrible mistake
by JustHuman14 ini haven't posted for quite a bit, decided to share my thoughts on this one, so it is a reference topic for anyone who decides to return back to the org, knowing all about the tatt.
being way for quite long for almost 15 years and all wt's activities, i have missed quite a lot including the "new light" latest updates, i found it quite hard to follow up what was going on to the meetings.
new songs, wt broadcast, videos, internet (so wt now is in favor of the internet) cartoons, and everything seemed completely new and weird to me.. reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "truth".

That was the only reason, and I'm working on the fade out process. I knew from the very start what I was going to do but I guess, still is hard, despite the fact I knew what it would be like.
Got it. You didn't mention a son. That's reason strong enough to return. Thanks.

Your View Of Death How Much Does It Effect The Way You Look At The World Around You?
by Brokeback Watchtower inlets face it the watchtower's indoctrinations effect the way we look at the world we see governments as tool of the devil.
we look at our relatives different, we will not speak to our own children if disfellowshipped.. a better world is what christians promise believers, or hell for those condemned by the deity.
kiss the ass of the deity and go to a better world, and don't forget to put something in the collection plate on sunday.. to face death with out the crutch of a future better world for beleivers, is better, as you can cherish the life you are living and be more in the present while facing what ever life throws at you.

Your View Of Death How Much Does It Effect The Way You Look At The World Around You?
I don't have a specific view of death. My position is that I can't care less. It affects the way I look at the world around positively. The biggest stupidity (in my opinion) that many religions preach and expect from people is wasting this life preparing for the next or expecting that this life is spend earning a good standing in the next. To me that's the most idiotic thing to do with one's life.

You should not feel bad for expressing what you think and how you feel. They are the ones who should be ashamed for trying to stop you from doing so.
Keep that in mind. The only way that your life is turning into shit, is if you value their shit. Loving them as family doesn't mean that they can violate your personal boundaries.

Seems like they just keep going back and forth with that crap. How about ex-JWs set real, healthy boundaries and stop letting the WT dictates whether they can talk to their loved ones or not.

Reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "Truth". I guess being a son of a CO it didn't took quite long to be reinstated.
I haven't read other people's responses (purposely), but the part from your post that I quoted caught my attention. I am actually more interested in knowing a little more about your rationale behind going back. Seems to me that it's not related to your own spiritual believes, at least not at first look. So I'm curious about:
- Your current believes (or non-believes). I ask because to some people what they start believing and the spirituality that they choose create a conflict with their former JW believes, and they try to find other ways of coming to terms with their JW loved ones instead of giving into their JW nonsense. Which leads me to...
- Your JW loved ones. If you are 100% clear about the WT being full of --it, or whichever reason you have to no longer being associated with the WT, seems like throughout the years that you have been out, you have not solved the conflict of family relations that leaving brings to all ex-JWs with current JW loved ones.
I inquire because I'd like to know if you have thought that fading or leaving a second time may continue the same family relationship conflict. In fact, your leaving a second time may be even more difficult for you to deal with the pressure from your loved ones since you gave in once.
What I'm getting at is that in or out of the WT, and regardless of your current status, your family issues will not change unless you address them properly. Could a straight talk with your JW family about your standing, spiritually and with the WT help? Seems like after 15 years, if they have not gotten your disinterest, it may be because they might need a firm clear stand on where you are with the WT?
What has been the conversation with them? Do they know exactly how you feel about the WT? Do you think they should?

Imagine If The World Was Ruled By Just One Government/Kingdom
by Brokeback Watchtower infirst off to go would be information deemed unfit for heavily indoctrinated subjects.
no rival governments less freedom granted by existing ruler, just cogs in a huge fucking wheel would humans become.. no appealing to the masses of the benefits of their government and the horrors of the opposition.
they are all this generation knows.

Watch out where you tread
by LevelThePlayingField ini remember like it was yesterday.
my dad pounding his fist on the kitchen table and gritting his teeth as he tells me to get out!
he kicked me out of his house.

LevelThePlayingField, thank you for your post. Variances of that situation, I'm sure most-to-all of us have experienced. This is very helpful.
