Plaintiff appears to assert that she is entitled to a total of several billion dollars (“$4,000,000,000” and “2.4000,000”) for “kidnapping in infancy and as a young adult, separated from parent, family and country for 53 yrs.[,] unlawfully took my children and had adopted, arranged (5) sexual aggravated offenses including statutory, mutilated and dismembered, denied education for self and children, denied legitimate employment for 38 yrs, orchestrated (5) car accidents to injure-causing multiple injuries, defamation of character, physical and mental torture for 16 yrs, physical abuse for 49 yrs, monopolized and defrauded of revenue, secretively implanted the Nkultra Military Device, forged identity, inundated compulsive conceptions, attempts of murder, inventions of criminal and[d] psychological incidents, 30 yrs. of destruction of property, innumerable irreversible damages and 53 yrs in a conspiracy that denies liberty and justice and coerces slavery.” [Dkt. That plaintiff sounds like she's full of --it.

2018 Annual Meeting
by EyesOpenHeartBroken indoes anybody have any word on the 2018 annual meeting?
i assume something new will be rolled out, since they are having all the congregations do special weekend streaming.. my guess is that there will be some major "new light" concerning the memorial, partaking, anointed, etc.
i would guess that they will say all baptized believers should partake.

Do A Majority of Those That Bother With Doctrine Reject the Current Teachings?
by OnTheWayOut inon another thread, shadow asked pimojw, a newbie still serving in a congregation, "how about the overlapping generation?
do you know anyone who actually believes that?
"answer was "no i dont!

OnTheWayOut, I can only feel sorry for those die-hard JWs that are experiencing the worst kind of BS from the WT. Aside from that, I've been out of that nonsense for far to long to even wonder.

"See, I told you so!!"
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred to me that most humans (whether they like to admit it or not) love to take a firm and proud stance on something, and love to be able to say to others "see, i told you so!".
this arrogance creates a proud and determined mindset to make people dig their heels in on a stance they have taken - all in the hope that they can one day be proven right, and therefore prove someone else wrong.. so it is with most witnesses.
they are so desperate to be proven correct after all they have invested in their faith, and they have a keen desire to say "see i told you so!".

"See, I told you so!"
I agree. In fact, during my early days after leaving, when I felt alone and needed support and couldn't find it, those are the words that always came to mind (in my parent's voice).

I'm so sorry to hear about this. You certainly don't deserve such treatment. Please keep in mind that you are a nice, good, valuable and decent human being, and your mom may be that too, but she's brainwashed by a high control group.
I'm sure that you have other people who love and support you. Make sure to have them with you. Only time will tell who is the one showing the right morals.
Please keep taking care of yourself and children.

Either God’s non-existence or His majesty
by venus inin natural calamities, everyone (despite one’s faith) is affected.
when one denies god’s existence, he experiences no punishment from him.
when one worships him, he receives no special favor from him.

In all these religious evolution, God obviously plays no role. This could be interpreted as either proof of His non-existence or His majesty that comes from His policy of non-intervention.
In any type of evolution (no pun intended) God plays no role.
The creation is majestic, by his works you will know him.
Nonsense.

Impact of transformation of jw organization
by Gorbatchov inthe organization transforms quickly into a multimedia self-help feel good religion.
i am very allergic to it.
can not hide it either.

...self-help feel good religion...
How so? Self-help? Anything that it's for one's self is discouraged in that religion.
How are others involved in this? This must have an impact on some of the witnesses' population?
I'm not. Been away from it for quite some time.. What i know about them is from what I read here. For what I have heard, the changes that they are making are reactive to the way people are and communicate today, and to the fact that there's access to so much information about them as well as ex-JWs who know each other. The changes seem more consequential than anything else.

Ever bump in to a JW acquaintance at the gym?
by Vetiver inthis has happened to me on 4 occasions.
3 times it was an elder and i simply pretended i didn't know him and avoided eye contact.

How many do you figure are converted through the door to door ministry?
by HereIgo ini regular pioneered for 2 years and never have actually converted anyone through the door to door work, in fact, i only knew a few individuals that joined this way.
most were born-in or at least had some type of family influence.
i had several bible studies but they all got cold feet when things got serious and potential baptism was discussed.

Looking back the entire experience was just a waste of time and meaningless. A lot of empty homes, coffee breaks and people uninterested in what we had to say.
It's very interesting, that was my experience too. I started preaching by myself when I was a little child, all the way up to when I was 23. Rarely I saw a person who really wanted a revisit for the right reasons.
Now as an adult, and also way more educated in the matter of negative influence and high demand, controlling groups, I know that research shows that most people who fall for groups like the JWs do not pay attention to their message unless it comes from a friend, a coworker or a loved one. Most people in these groups started following another person they know and/or have a degree of trust. It's no surprise that house to house preaching raises awareness at best.
