You don't expect them to actually address and (horrors!) admit to allowing child abuse in their congregation, right?

The most pressing question on people's minds? Watchtower artwork & Paul's Baldness!!!
by doubtfull1799 inwith hundreds, if not thousands, of letters being sent in to the society asking for answers re their child abuse policies and poorly supported doctrines, what does the watchtower decide is the most important question from readers to answer this month?
why is paul always depicted as bald apparently!.

Stop harassing jws
by pomo6780 inwe want people to learn ttatt.
we have numerous resources online to draw jws in so that they will wake up.
however, i've noted some radical methods that have been used by fellow exjws, and quite frankly, this must stop.

We want people to learn TTATT.
This is a very, very bad assumption. I cannot care less about any JW, including my own family, learning TTATT. Some of us, as I have said many times, are quite done with trying to save people from something, and also wanting to leave the WT and all the Jehovah crap as far from our lives as possible. Aside from this forum, I don't even think about anything JW nor about anything related to my JW past. And I like it that way.
I do agree that some people are not exactly sensitive or tactful when dealing with JWs. However, people are going to do what they are set to do. Also, some ex-JWs are still under several degrees of influence from the WT. Some still want to argue and discuss doctrine. My position on that is that they themselves are still in the process of sorting their own path. Some people love to show people that they are wrong, and some, very well intended, may not have the life skills necessary to deal with brainwashed people.
A good example is this very forum. A lot of people go on and on and on about how much they talk and research and discuss the WT teachings with the JWs, and neglect to see, understand or accept that the whole thing is more than just what they have in their printed material.
Also, there are some people who have been abused, deceived, mistreated and treated unfairly by them, and they are perfectly entitled to be angry and express such anger.
I am nobody to tell people how to behave (other than my own immediate family, and that's done in a loving way). I disagree with the way some people act and do things, but I am no one to tell them that the way they are dealing with things should change. For example, I didn't like the idea of the protest, but I didn't oppose nor did I criticize whoever decided to organize and carry on with it.
Your own recommendations still deny important aspects of where JWs are. Telling them things is NOT going to work since REASONING, learning, nor logic are what keeps them JWs.
As I always opine and recommend when asked, look for the real reasons why JWs joined and stayed JWs. You will find that many times it has absolutely nothing with the WT teachings.

People didn't care about my comment in my previous post, but I will say it again, anyway. I miss the 90s when the Macarena was the thing of the moment.

Why the 2 witnesses rule is not worth attacking........barking up the wrong tree!
by krismalone insome former jw protesters are wasting their time and energy "exposing" or criticizing the watchtowers 2 witness rule here's why:.
lets suppose the governing body changes this and expells anyone accused of child molestation even if accused by one person.
would that solve the problem?
-
scratchme1010
Are you for real, krismalone? You think that what matters here is being reinstated, the congregation, what they tell their victims and their families to do?
Those people are violating the law. They deserve to be jailed. They are violating children and getting away from it. Who gives a fuck about what their rules and protocols are.

Police Welfare Check
by JRK ini awoke in the middle of the night to banging on my door.
i went to the door half asleep and asked who was there.
i heard “police.” my dog was going crazy, so i slipped outside to talk to them.

The weird thing is that all of my friends know that I am not suicidal, and would have called me first before calling the police.
So it wasn't a friend, and it may have not been done in good intention.

Pull the Plug Already...
by megaboy inafter reading and seeing so many detailings of the dealings with people in this religion, i have to wonder how to get people who are just extremely asleep.
reasoning doesn't seem like it works, there needs to be some kind of plug pull event, like the leaders doing something so uterly stupid that it causes the immediate downfall of the entire religion.
but because i am naturally curious i want to know from people who have more experience with jw structure why they seem to have a resistance to an event like this?

But because I am naturally curious I want to know from people who have more experience with JW structure why they seem to have a resistance to an event like this?
My two cents. Many people concentrate in trying to reason and showing facts about doctrine, practices, legal lawsuits, things that they said before that now changed, etc, etc, etc. However, many people also fail to look at the most important part of why they don't react the way normal people should. They are attacking the effect, not the cause.
If you look at the reasons why people are there, they may have nothing to do with doctrine, practices, legal practices, nor things that they claim. It is about what that organization made them feel. The doctrine, teachings and bullshit came after they were made feel something they like and were (and still are) holding on.
Look at why people joined. Look at why people stay, and also look at us and ask why we left. Aside from people who have in fact become disappointed with the discrepancies in their teachings, there are others who have left for other reasons, such as:
- boredom (the excitement about "the truth" is over)
- being mistreated or betrayed
- being shunned in spite of their best efforts to do the right thing
- their system doesn't work (can't find suitable employment and Jehovah isn't providing as promised)
- they still don't feel good about themselves (remember, some people join religions to stay out of trouble, running from abusive situations, or to stay sober or abstinent from drugs)
There are many reasons why people join, stay and leave. That's what you need to find and address if you want to make them pay attention.

Did You Know “Weird JWs” When You Were In The Organization?

It could be argued that all JWs are weird.
I’m referring to really weird odd Witnesses.
Most of the oddballs that I remember were elders.
OMG, in what category! Let's see:
- This older woman who was addicted to attention seeking at any cost. She lived about a block from my family, so once my mother was in the shower and she entered the bathroom and started using the toilet loud as she was describing what she was doing and coming out. In the KH she was always singing louder than others, and always spoke and laugh extremely loudly. She also liked to talk about some procedure that was made to her anally because she was a virgin and couldn't get done vaginally.
- Mr. verbal diarrhea, an elder that was dumber than a potato chip. Was named elder because of his personality. He would just start babbling in his talks about nonsense, and would get lost. And when he had the last talk, forget it, we were closing the meetings about half an hour after it was supposed to. His wife had some kind of conflict or complex. Couldn't figure out what was wrong with her, but she was very antisocial.
- Pervert number 1 - This guy loved to comment and give very specific examples only and exclusively when the topic was related to sex or sexual practices. He never talked about anything ever, not once, if it wasn't about something sexual. He would be very graphic in describing "wordly" sexual practices.
- Pervert number 2 - This is more common, than what it should be. That guy was always trying to molest any female, including his own daughters. Every time that he was about to get caught, he would move to another congregation, and then later would return. He was finally disfellowshipped for having sex with a sister widow who was 80 years old. She got disfellowshipped too. Last time I heard, the guy is now in his 70s and married a 15 year old.
- The kid who claimed that Jehovah talks to him every night. This young man, in his late teens (back then) was always telling everyone who can listen that Jehovah appeared to him and talked to him. No one paid attention to him that I knew of.
- The closeted homosexual who wanted his mother dead. This guy was horrible! He was convinced that because his mother did not want to be a JW and he wanted to save her, that it was better if she died. He also showed signs of all kinds of neurotic guilt (like feeling that he needed to explain things to people who didn't even know what he was talking about). After I left, I once saw him in some park, and he wasn't exactly trying to save anyone (if you know what I mean).
- Narcissistic personality disorder 1 - This guy said that he is Jehovah. He was always "leading" by convincing people that his word, his criteria and his saying were always final because he said so, under the vice of the Jehovah crap. He would humiliate and shame anyone who ever contradicted him. The saddest part of it all was hearing so many sisters wanting to date him.
I'm sure that there are more, but those are the ones that I remember at the moment.
