i was writing about a friend of mine.
i'm a little curious if anyone else knows people like this too.. if personal inquiries were bullets then you’re charisma would be the stuff of ceramic plates and kevlar vests.
i say that because most of these charismatic people i know use their charm to relate to other people.
Yes, I know people like that, and at times I have acted like that myself. I pull my charisma when it counts, though.
i ask this question because i have personally experienced first hand the control and intrusion into my personal life by the elders at our hall; and for virtually trivial things or non issues!
what's more, i regularly hear of individuals moving to other halls because they were stumbled by the thought police....er, i mean these elders.. have you had any such experience?
have your elders been a bit ott over trivialities?.
Do you or did you experience too much intrusion into your personal life by the elders in your congregation?
Many people don't like hearing the experiences that I had with elders from when I was a kid to when I faded. They were never good experiences. Pretty much everything that is wrong in the world to me was represented by the congregation elders I knew.
When it came to being intrusive, many just felt entitled to come in and out of people's personal matters without a problem, and expecting people being ok with that, feeling entitled to having a saying in people's personal lives.
Granted, at the end I was just doing whatever the fuck I wanted to do and that wasn't settling well with those repressed, jealous people, especially the elders. But I never saw and met any elder who was a good role model or honest. Of all the people in authority I knew as a JW, I can only talk about one CO who seemed genuinely loving and doing his job as a CO. One, out of 23 years of dealing with that organization.
i'm sure many of you are aware of the jwtalk site, a message board which has yet to succumb to apostasy (give it time).. some of the forums there are visible to the public, and i've seen some crazy stuff.
here is a sampling:.
"satan is really trying his best to make things worst for the witnesses, knowing the 6,000 years is almost up, from eve's creation!".
after the last topic getting me mad, does anyone have a positive experience of dealing with an elder or a particular favourite elder that was a top bloke?.

No. The elders I knew were a bunch of dumb asses, abusive, disrespectful, narcissistic and/or homosexual closet cases. Sorry I can't help you feel positive.
here i am 63 years old, out of the cult going on 8 years, went through a year of therapy back in 2007, been working very hard to become the person i have always wanted to be.
but what happen to me a few days ago just blew me out of the water for the past two days.
i am now finally coming to grips with my emotions and understanding what caused me such distress.. here's what happen.
Thank you so much for sharing. Please remember that you are doing your best, and no matter what, there will be some people who will feel hurt regardless of your best efforts. It's not always something that you can do better about. Please keep that in mind. I say that because I find it unreasonable that the woman in your story just couldn't accept your apology, didn't let it go, and now is upset with the entire congregation for not taking her side. That is extremely unreasonable of her, regardless of how "bad" you think you said or did whatever was that she was complaining about.
in this episode we explore mike’s story of being shunned at an early age while still living at home, and how even today although he isn’t officially “shunned” he’s still treated that way as an inactive jehovah’s witness.
not all who are “shunned” are disfellowshipped or disassociated from the organization.
shunning is in the dna of jehovah’s witnesses, something that really marks them as a high control religion, also known as a cult.. .
it is not “preach the good news” nor is it “believe in jesus and get saved” neither is it “believe in the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses and get saved” although in practice they do teach this.
no, everything they claim depends on a belief in another doctrine which logic decrees cannot be found in the bible.
the leadership of jehovah’s witnesses put absolute faith in a protestant doctrine which is given a latin name, sola scriptura, meaning “by scripture alone”.. good evidence of the governing body believing in the primacy of this doctrine was when being questioned by the australian royal commission, they resorted to the ‘authority’ of scripture to defend their stance on having “two witnesses” when they are investigating child abuse cases.throughout the hearing they paraded their naive trust in the bible as the highest possible authority proudly ignoring the fact that most people regard it as having been superseded by modern scientific evaluations of what is true.. .
Have you ever thought what the primary teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses is?
Yes, forget about who you are, don't pay attention to anything and anyone else but what they tell you, including everything around your most important aspects of your life, your family, your health, your career, your possessions, your work, your community, your education, your feelings, your body, your choices of clothing, your opinions, your instincts and your own thoughts. None of that matters, only what/how/when/how much they tell you. But you're free from the world and sin.

Jehoval lol, thank you for posting. The information you are sharing is interesting. it reaffirms their craziness, I mean, cognitive dissonance.
hopefully more are on the same path.
here is the story..... this person i know was the model jw, and them and their spouse could have really moved up.
they knew i was gone and awhile ago started asking me questions.
The ones that if you are not part of this group, then you will die because this group is God's chosen and it should be obvious to the world they are the only true followers. So what happens on this historic day?!?! 75% of the meeting, 45 minutes, are featuring Tony ranting about tight pants and yoga pants.
That certainly resonates with me and many others. I remember similar stories of that kind of waking up, that is, how they claim that their message is so important, and how crucial their work is, and then what they talk about is pure crap, either hateful things, menial, stupid things, or something that is certainly not critical (like yoga and tight pants). And people are left thinking "Is that what we should be concentrating on right now? Is that really what humanity needs to hear to be saved?"
I never got to know who that Tony is, but he's doing a great job by showing how archaic, closed minded, and downright stupid they can get.
