Jehovahs Witnesses and mental illness
by UnshackleTheChains ini came across this video, which looks at mental illness among jws.. it is an old video, but really hits the nail right on the head as to the reasons why there is such a high level of mental illness among the jw's.. https://youtu.be/co-b65w-zqs.

The new world we live in

Is anyone else frequently bemused at the ways in which the world and childhood had changed? My nephew has cheap phones for his one and two year olds to watch cartoons in the car.
I am bemused too. The way we live today have both good and bad things. At 6 I did know about percentages and had the capacity to learn and know more, but I'm glad that kids have better access to information today. What people decide to do with what they have, that's another story.

Anxiety, OCD, Hoarding, and the JWs
by Spiral ini'm noticing what seems to be a higher incidence of the above among the local jws than in the "general" (read: worldly) population.
i don't say this lightly, my wanderings around the fringes of jw society locally is revealing an alarming trend here.
the poverty doesn't help (there are good jobs, but you need a degree or qualifications to get one).. anyone else see this?

Anyone else see this?
Yes, especially eating disorders. Remember, food is the one an only pleasurable thing that they don't attack.
Also, seeing so many people with so many different mental health issues in the last congregation I went to was one of the most influential factors that made me decide to leave. It was heart breaking (in some instances) seeing and noticing people in pain waiting for their magic Jehovah to make their issues go away.

Since leaving the JW Organization, who is believing?
by Issa ini left the jw organization last year during summer.
maybe some of you can relate.
who of you are agnostic or an atheist?
-

Who of you are agnostic or an atheist? I am agnostic for a couple of months now.
I'm neither. I guess I'm an I-can't-care-less-one-way-or-another-ist.

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution
by dubstepped inso i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

Look at the National Geographic Library. They have quite a lot of information and references to reliable sources of information.

Child abuse
by Jrjw ini was talking to a jdub yesterday about child abuse in the organisation and this was his response:.
"it has been known for kids to make stuff up.
we have to trust the society on these things, also the legal process is there.

I'm disgusted at how lightly they take it.
I would have questioned that person about (s)he being a pedophile. I'd would have said something along the lines that those are the words of people who have something to hide.
If that person felt disgusted by my accusation, then I did my job.

Conspiracy theorys
by atomant inits great to see new subject matter being injected into the room of late and would be good to see others contribute by opening new threads on their favorite topics.heres a few examples.9/11.
ufo's.
atom bombs are they real?
-
scratchme1010
l think sometimes people are afraid of being ridiculed posting these types of subjects but at the end of the day in one way or another they all affect us directly or indirectly. Not everyone is interested in these topics and that's fine simply ignore the posts.
They should Those things exist and there's no need to prove otherwise. Anything against the existence of:
9/11 - I was living in New Jersey that day. I saw the smoke from the other side of Staten Island. I used to hang out every weekend at the Borders bookstore in one of the towers (interestingly, that was the one and only part of the buildings that stood up after the attack).
ufo's - By the very definition of what they are, yes. Are they what we see on TV and what some clowns that claim they are, no.
atom bombs - yes, they are, yest they happened.
The banking system - at least my bank account exists.
Seems like lately some attention seekers are starting to post crap over the internet about the earth being flat and similar shit.
People seem to have too much time in their hands.
