Interesting point, and great observation. That reinforces their attitude that they are to be trusted and believed in without any questioning.

Using Watchtowers Own Reasoning Against Them RE: The Governing Body
by pale.emperor insomething occurred to me today.
quite randomly as i was working away at my desk i remembered an illustration from the bible teach book in which satan claimed he knew better than jehovah about ruling mankind.
here's the illustration from chapter 11 of that book:.

The fly doesn't know it's in a bottle....
by dubstepped in... the walls are transparent.
so if you want to help the fly escape you first have to convince the fly that it's in a bottle, and only then can it find its way out.
that is taken from this american life episode 635 called "chip in my brain".

Home schooling website / system for JWs
by sir82 inso, apparently, there is an organization which provides structure, curriculum, etc.
for home-schooling of jw kids:.
http://www.newsystemschool.org/index.html.

I've known of that type of home schooling available. I have mixed feeling about that model.
JWs are by far the most maladjusted JWs out there.
Not even close. And no, I'm not defending them. Look at the data and statistics on "Adjustment disorder" or "Maladaptive coping", and you'll be surprised. In USA you can get that info from the NIH and the CDC.
Nope, by far JWs are not that.

My Boyfriend's Family Wants to Meet Mine (My Parent's are JWs) Help!
by LaurenM inso i have been "faded" for approximately 2.5 years.
my parents know i haven't attended a meeting in quite some time, but don't know that i have been dating a guy for about eight months.
we really love each other and his family is super sweet.

I think it's time to have a nice, serious and heart to heart conversation with your parents. I imagine that you are an adult, which means that one of the main points of conversation is that as an adult you are now in charge of your own decisions.
Easier said than done, though. Even in the messed up family I grew up in, I found it difficult to make that point to my parents. There's always fear to hurt them, but that also means that we are communicating that we are going to be responsible for everything in our lives, something not easy to do when you create some dependence by means of the WT.
However, the best way is to be honest, for them to hear things about you directly from you, and for them to start understanding that you are now an adult with your own ideas and decisions of what/who you want in your life. All that should come from you if you want the best outcome (IMO).

When lacking education makes you say some eternal truths
by paradiseseeker ini think some of us are familiar with those jw facebook pages that post images that are shared by our contacts from time to time.. i don't know if this happens with english speaking jws, but in the case of spanish speaking jws many of those images contain some spelling and grammar mistakes.. but this one is killing me nicely.. .
it literally means: "unless you use your life to serve jehovah, you will never feel empty".. beautiful :').

What I hate is how they continue using English syntax in Spanish. The rest is just the same JW bullshit (in any language).

WT predicting smartphones back in the 20s?
by paradiseseeker ini've come across a jw friendly article about watchtower predicting smartphones in the 20s.. .
of course, in the comments section there are a lot of jws freaking out saying "there is no doubt that this is the only true organization!
", "thanks jehovah that used his faithful and discreet slave to tell us some useful information about the future!

The Constant Mindchatter After You Leave
by pale.emperor ini've been out almost 2 years now and consider myself wide awake to watchtower propaganda and well on my way to recovery from the mental abuse we've all experienced.. one thing that just will not go is that i constantly think of jwism and watchtower and get myself all annoyed at their lies and blatant twisting of facts in their broadcasts and magazines.
it's so bad that it's the first thing i think of when i wake up, then i have these mental arguments in my head proving the jw teachings false and then getting annoyed because no jw will listen even if you tried to tell them.
i call this constant thinking and mental reasoning and mental arguing "mindchatter".

Thank you for sharing. You don't ask for advice, and I respect that. However, please give yourself some time. 2 years is not a long time to de-influence yourself from the WT nonsense.
May I ask, where do you find peace of mind and comfort? Have you replaced the JWs with something healthy, not necessarily spiritual, but whatever void the JWs filled for you, do you get those needs fulfilled somewhere else (if you were a JW for a reason, not a born-in)?
Also, if you feel such discomfort, maybe talking to a mental health professional can help. Would you be open to that idea? Meanwhile, I'm glad that you are sharing here, who knows how many others are going through the same.

This week's (Jan 29th - Feb 4th) CLAM meeting "terrorist attack" video ...
by freddo inthis week's clam meeting has a video from jwborg entitled refreshing those “toiling and loaded down” about the organisation's response to two terrorist's attacks in new york (twin towers) and paris (bataclan 2015).. to me it is more about a back slapping "look what we do for you" than a "left hand not letting the right know" (matt 6 v 3) action of love and care.. ... ... ... ... ... .... if you've read this far - by contrast please google "didi bataclan paris" to read about a true unsung hero.
not forgetting the true heroes of 9/11 .... ... ... ... ... ... .
am i too cynical?.
-
scratchme1010
You are not cynical at all, freddo. The WT loves to criticize everything bad that happens in the world, except what they enjoy from it. They do nothing for anybody under the excuse that the world isn't worth saving, which is why I have no respect for them.

Has Watchtower taken the joy out of 'the good news of the kingdom'
by UnshackleTheChains ini ask this question for the following reason.
i was sitting at the kingdom hall thinking about all the rules, procedures, policies, teachings that each member must follow ......or else!.
at the watchtower study we are reminded of the paradise earth where we will all be the same and happy.

Has Watchtower taken the joy out of 'the good news of the kingdom'
When have they ever had anything joyful. Oh, never mind, I forgot that now they dance in assemblies.
